A PINCH OF SNUFF

Well, you've read the notes, you know all there is to know, notes-wise, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're having a pinch of snuff right now, and then they'll be on their merry way.

I'd like to see all the "50 Guitars of Tommy Garrett" LP's on CD and also more by Ferrante & Teicher - especially "Golden Piano Hits".  I quite liked some of those André Kostelanetz albums of the sixties too.

Several of the Kostelanetz albums have come out as two-fers on Collector's or Collectibles or whatever that label is - I bought three or four of them.

I left out some wonderful actors in I'm Dancing as Fast As I Can because I was typing as fast as I can: John Lithgow, Kathleen Widdoes, James Sutorious, and Albert Salmi.

Will check the Kostelantez.  Thank you BK.  Hope you sleep well and the resident bug decides to depart.

Slowly but surely with the help of friends and odd producers, many of the things I want on CD have come my way. I still have some records in the cabinet that will never make it to commercial CD so it's just a matter of finding the time to transfer them. As BK (and others like Tom who have done it) know, it's a time consuming process, not terribly difficult, but not as easy as copying a CD since if you want separate tracks, depending on the age and sophistication of your machine you must pause after each track. Some newer machines will make separate tracks but it's dependent on sound or lack thereof and it doesn't always work. If you have a 2 LP record and you need to pause after each track it tacks a couple of hours to make the CD. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. I have the 1985 Cradle Will Rock from the Acting Company but I would love to have the 1964 recording (with Jerry Orbach) on CD. I have the record but it's not in great shape. That also makes transferring a problem if you're doing it to a dedicated machine, you don't have many options to clean up the sound. If you're doing it into your computer you can get software to clean up pops and hisses and the like but the dedicated machine basically just transfers the tracks to a CD.

I would also like to find a copy of Sarah Vaughn Live in Japan. It's a 1973 concert she did in Tokyo. I have it on tape. It was released in the early years of CDs but it's been out of print for years and I've never run across it in all my voyages to used CD emporiums.

I'll be posting today but that's it until Monday, July 4th. Tomorrow, very early I head out to LaGuardia airport to traverse to Virginia (Roanoke) to spend the weekend with my husband and to see his show. I'll be gone from Friday, July 1 to sometime Monday the 4th. Then, when I return I must catch up with all the sparkling posts.

Off to work. Later, gaters.

Sorry about the obstinate bug (cough and sore throat), dear BK. Hope you feel better this morning and completely get well very soon.

Good Morning!

I'm up!  I'm up!

I was actually up around 6:15.   I just woke up, felt quite awake, then decided just to relax for a few... Then it was 7:30...  And I've just been lying in bed for the past 45 minutes or so listening to NPR... So...

I should be on my way to the Metro in about 30 minutes, and that should put me at the LoC by 9:30 where I shall meet up with DR elmore and help him out with his Babes in Arms research today - meaning I'll be manning the copy machine.  -Actually, I like making copies - I'm weird that way.

In any case...

As far as LPs that I'd like to see on CD...  Hmmm...  I shall have to think about that one while I'm at the LoC since nothing really "crucial" comes to mind right now.

Waiting for the travel agency to call about the train tickets.  UGH!  I'd love to have "Leader of the Pack", the Christine Andreas "My Fair Lady", Petula's "The Sound of Music" and "Gone With the Wind" - the musical on CD.

DR Jose, re: Dancing With The Stars.  I thought I would hate it, and didn't care much for the first show (but sort of had it on in the background).  But I think it's gotten better (since they realized it was a huge summer hit).  They explain the dances more.  They show a lot of the practices.  And now I sort of look forward to each week.

Btw, you can vote online.

(you have to give them an email address, only they let you vote right away, so basically you could put in any email :( )

Good Morning, All!

Ben, tell Ant hello.

TOD:  I was about to say I didn't know which CD's I wanted, but I would like Gordon Jenkins' "The Letter" to be released on CD.
Also some Robert Irving (sort of like England's Arthur Fiedler).

There is probably something else that I'm itching to have available on CD, but I'd pretty much have to go through my entire record collection to figure it out.

Have a great day on this last day of June, all y'all.

Hello DR Hisaka.  Didn't want you to feel as if you were all alone in the world.

And a stunning new avatar, may I add.

Kerry, I know Ant would also like The Letter on CD. It's one of the few Garland pieces he doesn't have on that format.

DR MBarnum, have you been able to access DVD Verdict in the last few days? I've been trying to see next week's upcoming releases there, and I get nada. Thanks for any info.

What I'd like on CD:

BAKER STREET (OBC)

CANDIDE (1973 revisal)

A TIME FOR SINGING (OBC)

Julie Andrews: DON'T GO IN THE LION'S CAGE TONIGHT

STARS OF THE SILVER SCREEN 1929-1930

And I, too, would like the Ian Richardson-Christine Andreas-George Rose MY FAIR LADY (OBC)

Thanks to you, DR STUART, BEN and MBarnum. I’m not alone now.

Changed my avatar, since I unusually took a photo last night, at my friend’s birthday party, just for a change of air (I have no idea if this phrase is appropriate…)

As for movie soundtracks, I'd like:

LI'L ABNER

PORGY AND BESS (with Sammy Davis' numbers as bonus tracks since Cab Calloway did them on the official soundtrack)

It is now back up MattH. There server was down for a few days I think, because of a move. But I just checked it this morning and all is back as it should be.
