Ron!!! On the 2-disc Platinum Series Special Edition, you get DTS sound. Need I say more. Picture is absolutely stunning. And the riveting, unsettling story needs no further comment. Amazing film and a reference DVD.

Or. . .Andrea McArdle's soft, yet effective pairing of "Look for the Silver Lining" and "Tomorrow."

Folks have already started talking about an Oscar nomination for Ellen deGeneres' "Dory" -- much the way they've done for Andy Serkais' "Gollum".

No, they don't "qualify"...but much talk has been generated. It will be interesting to see if a "comment" is issued by AMPAS.

And speaking of "LOTR" -- I'm expecting my deluxe collector's edition of "The Two Towers" in the mail next week. I can't wait to see it with 40 extra minutes Plus that fabulous DTS sound!

I thought for sure someone would have answered this one by now.

Was produced in London in 1996 with Americans Joel Higgins who also wrote the lyrics and the book and Christine Andreas. It is based (how much I am not sure) on the film The Traveling Exucutioner. There is an cast album and Christine recorded a couple of songs from it on one of her albums (don;t have which one handy) and Higgins guested on the cd for those songs.

As for The Night of the Hunter

there have been a couple of productions of it in the US. There was an April 2003 worskhop production in NYC The April cast included Ron Raines ("Guiding Light") as The Preacher (reprising his concept album work), Beth Fowler (Beauty and the Beast) as Rachel Cooper, Julie Johnson (Das Barbeque) as Willa Harper, Mary Stout (Jane Eyre, Beauty and the Beast) as Icey Spoon, George Lee Andrews (The Phantom of the Opera) as Walt Spoon, Gordon Joseph Weiss (Ghetto) as Uncle Birdie, Ricky Ashley as John Harper, Jennifer Michelle Brown as Pearl Harper, Brian Noonan as Ben Harper, Tina Johnson (Best Little Whorehouse, Casper) as Miz Cunningham, Gloria Hodes as Nellie, Taylor Giacomo as Ruby, Samantha Meckes as Mary Samantha Blinkas as Clary, with Gregg Goodbrod, G. Shane Peterman and David Lowenstein.

This is aiming for a major production in Sept. 2004 at the Willows Theatre in Concord, CA

The company of the April 2003 production.

Yes, DR MDS, it was used in "Last Crusade."

I expect I'll have a little cleaning to do, because a few of the columns fell and the floor cracked.

MAtt: :The Shipping News Is very much a favourite in this house. The first DVD purchased. A sadly neglected film. UK critics gave Mr Spacey a nod for his performance but the U.S.A. did not notice. He was playing the character perfectly. I am sure that Annie Proulx would have loved it. I think he would be ideal in "Ace In The Hole" too. I wonder if his "Bobby Darin" film is anywhere near getting started. Last i read it was in "pre - production". "Shipping News" was my firsrt real knowledge of the wonderful Julianne Moore too. And didn't Cate blanchette produce yet another brilliant performance as "Petal". Added to all that there was the impeccable performance of Dame Judi. Does that answer the question? Ponderous the film was not. True to the book and its characters it was.
