Good Evening!
Whew! Back from auditions. It was a weird day for a couple of reasons.
First of all, we only had about 150 people registered. We normally have about 200 to 225. So, after crunching the numbers, we decided just to go straight the morning and finish "early" instead of taking a lunch break. -Which was OK. So, we ended up finishing up around 1:30.
Secondly, we usually figure on about a five percent no-show ratio. Well, out of the 150 people we had registered, we had almost 50 no shows. That was LOT of no shows. After checking in with some people, we realized that a bunch of people stayed home - or wherever they are - since they drive in. And with the cost of gas right now... It was easier to sacrifice a $25 registration fee for the prospect of spending about $70-100 on gasoline for a round-trip trip.
And, yes, unfortunately, there were some called-in cancellations from people who were directly affected by Hurricane Katrina. -Put it all in perspective.
But, all in all, a good day.
