My question for ASK BK DAY:

What was your favorite fantasy/sci fi television series when you were growing up?

Thanks to all for the procedure vibes.

I am scheduled to be there at 11 a.m.

It has now been since Monday at 11 p.m. since I have eaten anything.  I am rather hungry.  I have my coupon so that we can stop at Burger King on the way home and I can get my Family Bundle.....3 whoppers, 3 cheeseburgers, 3 regular fries.

It usually lasts three or four days - I don't think that will be the case today.

Is someone taking you and/or bringing you home?

I wish you every positive vibe I can.

Enjoy your burgers!  I inhaled my first meal post-procedure a week ago.

This time tomorrow, I shall be on the verge of being eyeglass-free for the first time in 60-plus years!  I get cataract surgery on my left eye, and I can hardly wait!

Actually, I have been functioning without my glasses since the second day of my first surgery except when i want to read something in regular print or smaller (like pill bottles and cooking instructions on frozen foods).

I expect I may need to own a pair of reading glasses regardless of my improved eyesight, but it won't be a daily thing.  The doctor said I wouldn't have the sharp vision I had as a teenager, but I corrected him by saying I never had sharp vision as a teen!!  Still, I am paying (almost through the nose) for the best lens they have in order to live glasses-free, including when I read books, etc.

I have to repor for surgery at 6:50 a.m. tomorrow.  Happily, my return visit on Friday is for 9:35 a.m.

My cousin, Debra, has been my rock through all this. She picks me up, takes me to wherever we need to be, and returns me home.

I have told her to please call me to reciprocate when she needs to have someone with her for such matters.

Back from the doctor. Despite not having been examined for more years than I care to reveal, my eyes are in good shape. The prescription has changed hardly at all.

One interesting thing: my new eye doctor recommended "office lenses" for me. They expand the mid-range (computer) section of my progressive lenses to almost the whole lens. Since I do intensive computer work all day long, I would wear these while I am working, then switch to my regular progressive lenses the rest of the time.

I also have some congenital cataracts and some normal age-level cataracts developing, but not to the point where surgery is required yet.

I only have two points to make:  1, you won't believe how much clarity of light and color await you (the eyes slowly alter your perception of color and light over time); and 2, the surgery is over before you know it has begun.  Pain-free and easy-peasy,

Thanks, DR Ron Pulliam. I think the cataracts have to get a lot worse before insurance will pick up the tab.
