Isn't it funny what each person sees in a picture. I see a group of healthy, happy souls enjoying each other's company. And I see me green with envy because I'm not there with all of you.  :)

Yes, MR BK, you must share with us.

A NOT exhaustive internet search does NOT reveal a version of the WSS overture arranged or conducted by Mr Peress, although a couple of selections from the show conducted by him appear on a Sony Classical, CD.  Maybe the Peress is somewhere in the morass not to be confused with Jerome Moross.

Oh, okay, DR Lulu - I was commenting on your comment on the wrong picture when you were commenting on the other picture not the picture I was commenting on your comment on.  Indiana State Department of Redundancy Department.  8)

BTW, can anybody tell me how the karma thing works?  My karma just went up by one.

Please don't banish me to the cornfield (ie: yesterday's copious discussion of karma).

Yes, I think Vic Mizzy did the music for GREEN ACRES. DeVol was FAMILY AFFAIR.

I love this site; I really do.

You know how it's said, in so many ways, that men are always measuring their . . . apparatus - against other men's?  You know what I mean.  And that's never said as if it's a positive thing.  So I guess a lot of people agree that the mania for pulling out yardsticks (in my case) or centimeter-sticks (in yours) is some sort of societal blight.

We've fallen into a trap, here at Haines His Way, in that we have too many methods of measurement.  So people carp that their karma is down, or that they'll never catch up to the Gods, or that we've more posts than that-there-site that claims to have more posts than it has.  Measurements, measurements, measurements!

When you think about what it is you love about Haines His Way (and I do), what comes to mind are the witty and trenchant things BK and others say about their lives, about shows they've seen and things they've done.  Are the "measurement" posts anybody's favorite posts?  I doubt it.

And I'm sorry if it seems I'm complaining too much.  I don't complain nearly as often as X and certainly less often than Y and Z has so many posts she should KISS MY ASS

Hmmmm...I hope dear reader Noel didn't think I was inordinately interested in "measuring" anything.  I just don't know what the karma is supposed to mean, or why those numbers by it are changing for me, and was curious.  Didn't know I was stumbling into a hotbed of controversy.   ;)

DR Lulu - you have to have at least 25 posts before you can give Karma - then the words will appear near your KARMA total.  ;D

Earlier BK wrote: "Dear reader Jane forced me to eat the entirety of the whipped cream – she forced me I tell you."

Bruce, falsehood in defense of self-weakness is never attractive.  In an early morning phone call with my Dear Reader Jane, she convincingly described a Himalayan-size serving of whipped cream on top of that apple-thingy you had for dessert last night.  Further, she was adamant that she, Dear Reader Jay, other diners, and various restaurant personnel attempted to stop you REPEATEDLY from devouring the artery clogging adornment—but to no avail.

In future postings describing meals where witnesses are present, it might be advantageous (as in I-was-not-in-control-of-myself) to feign progressive glaucoma or temporary, insidious gluttony when recounting culinary events.

Sincerely yours,
Dear Reader Jane's husband

She FORCED me, I tell you.  She SHOVELED that whipped cream down my gaping maw.  She would not let me leave until every bite of the whipped cream was but a memory in search of leaky soup.

Whipped cream is my weakness.  I can just eat it plain and be very happy.  But she FORCED me, I tell you.

And furthermore, I did not order the apple thingy and didn't even know it would have whipped cream on it.  I was agog, I tell you, simply agog.   And it was mountain-sized whipped cream and it did disappear.  So it is written, so it shall be done.

Good morning, one and all!  Happy Friday.  Damn, I sound like I am in a good mood.  Well, why not?  The snow is mostly gone (although it is chilly), it is Friday, next week there are only three work days followed by a four day weekend, and tomorrow is the day for the greatest rivalry in college sports (Okay, in Washington State) the Apple Cup.

In all my CD players (car, living room, office):  Gene Pitney, Gene Pitney, and even more Gene Pitney.  Yes, my friends, a plethora of Gene Pitney thanks to everyone’s favorite Aussie.

In my video recorder:  Nothing at the moment.  It stands empty in anticipation of a Betty Hutton interview and movie, which I am expecting to receive any day from yet another generous Kimlet whose name sounds very much like a character from Dallas.

DVD Player:  After yesterday's discussion regarding Christmas films, I stopped at the electronics store to pick up a couple of seasonal hits.  Instead I walked out with U-571, which I have never seen; and The Ghost and Mr Chicken, which I haven't seen since I was in training pants (I was 17).
