Thanks, DR MBarnum. I will do a search for it. I have several of those series episode books, and I'd love to add PERRY to my collection.

As for credibility issues, one must suspend disbelief with ALL episodic television, and I have no problem with doing it for mysteries. To give me a mystery to solve each week, who cares that it involves the same detective/attorney. The play's the thing....

Ya, suspending belief has never been a problem for me...after all I am a huge fan of Godzilla movies! LOL!

Love Godzilla, and I'm told that the original cut of Gojira is coming to DVD (the one w/o Raymond Burr) - the original cut is really amazing - quite someber and serious and beautifully done. But, I'm also fond of the Burr version, too. I had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch. Trying to be a good boy until the big Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday (with my friends the Jones's). Dear reader Pogue's recipe also sounds quite yummiliscious, but not as yummiliscious as the carbonara.

THE PEARL OF DEATH looked extraordinary. Really, the deep blacks and every scale of gray looked simply smashing to me. Exceptionally sharp transfer except for one street scene where things go weirdly out of focus for a second. I thought maybe the cameraman was trying to focus on the matchwoman in the street so we could see it was villainess Naomi Drake, but I think it was just one scene where they had to use a 16 mm print or something to cover deterioration. I saw a tiny, tiny bit of speckling in one scene, too, but toherwise, it looked as good as CASABLANCA does and wonderfully clear mono sound.

I remember watching "Adam-12" when I was a wee lad - had to believe I was ever "wee", but I was. I don't really remember any particular episode, but I always thought the dark-haired guy was very attractive.

I seem to remember "Adam-12" being shown back to back with Marcus Welby - I'm not sure if these were in original run or syndication. I guess I could check somewhere on the net right now, but...

I remember going to a restaurant that claimed to have the REAL Fettucine Alredo, and they prepared it tableside. I remember expecting the usual eggs, cream and cheese, but it turned out that their whole sauce was made out of cheese(!), a very rich, semi-soft cheese that melted into a perfect sauce. They would put blocks of the cheese into a pan, put the pan over a burner, and let it melt slowly. Once it was melted down, they added the pasta and some pasta water if the "sauce" was too thick. YUMMY! And very easy to make.

Well, I ran my errands, and ended up going to one of my favorite little home decor/gift shops to pick up some Christmas ornaments. She always has a great selection, and this year is no exception. I even bought my opening night "favors" there last week - they had a whole tree full of crown ornaments, and since I'm doing Camelot... Perfect. Well, my niece and nephew saw me wrapping them up, and they wanted a crown or two for themselves. So... being the good uncle... Then I noticed these new gel ornaments - kind of like oversized window clings, and I picked up a few packets of those. Then there were the cute jingle bell ornaments, etc., etc., etc... About $90 later... Ah, well...

Then I headed over to Ukrop's for some grocery shopping, and I stocked up Land 'O Lakes butter since it was on sale! I had planned to bake today, but I have a feeling I may just hit the bakery in the morning before heading back. Just not feeling like being on my feet in the kitchen right now. -But knowing my past baking history, I'll probably get my "baking jones" sometime around 11:30pm. We'll see...

I'm also having dinner tonight with a new theatre professor here in Richmond - he used to be an actor in NYC - he was in LES MIZ for almost the entire run (with a few breaks here and there for other shows). They're starting a new musical theatre course this spring, and I'm gonna try to help out when I can - when I'm in town.

On a more serious note, there was an "incident" here in Richmond last night, and it greatly affected a friend of mine. If all you H/Ks could send some good and comforting vibes towards this corner of the Commonwealth, they would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Yes, of course, I don't want the PERRY MASON book JUST for an episode guide. I know full well there are plenty of those available on the web. But those books often have a "making of" aspect to them that I find really fascinating, and that's the real draw for me in those books. The ones on THE TWILIGHT ZONE and THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW are the best I've come across, I think.

the Universal Sherlock Holmes films just give me a warm fuzzy feeling, as do most of Universal's horror and suspense films from the 40s. As a kid and young teen in the 70s I watched many of those films on tv each weekend.

Anyone ever see Universal's MURDER IN THE BLUE ROOM from 1944? Love it, love it, love it! Good little mystery and some great 1940s music including that hit song BOOGIE WOOGIE BOOGIE MAN! LOL!

I forgot to comment on ADAM-12. Of course, I loved it. And while everyone else was drooling over Kent McCord, I always liked Martin Milner the best (maybe because I loved ROUTE 66, too, with George Maharis as the main draw).

I'm planning on seeing a few shows when I'm up in NYC in January - I hope I can squeeze in Wonderful Town too. *I've already called in a couple of house seat "favors".

Why is it that I can't summon up tremendous energy or enthusiasm to want to see WONDERFUL TOWN? Having seen Rosalind Russell do it on TV at the Museum of TV and Radio, and knowing that this is a scaled down, little better than concert rendering of the show as adapted at Encores! (or that the Russell video was free whereby tickets for this revival will go for $90), I'm just not wild to see it. The show isn't a great favorite, though, I'll admit, I've never seen it on stage live, so maybe that would make a difference. Maybe it's just revivals that I'm a little tired of. I'd much rather see WICKED.

I found this over at a part of the Sondheim.com site that hasn't crashed:

The Real A's Wacky Noodles

1 pound wide egg noodles
1 pint (8oz.) sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Minced dried onions
2 tbs ketchup
1 cup milk
salt and pepper

Boil the noodles, drain and put back in the pot. Add soup, a generous helping of minced dried onions, the milk and salt and pepper to taste. Mix together, then heat. Add the ketchup. Continue heating. (The ketchup is a flavor thing, you may want to add a bit more than the 2 tbs). Stir every now and then. When it's hot, add the sour cream and continue heating for another two or three minutes, always stirring (otherwise noodles will stick to the bottom of the pot and you DON'T want that - it's yucky). Turn the heat off, add more salt to taste and chow down you lucky eaters. Oh, now look, I've started to drool. I'm going to have to make me a batch as soon as I finish writing this column...

As for my own favorite pasta topping, I start with a basic tomato sauce of crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, fresh Roma tomatoes (seeded and roughly chopped), plus a decent amount of dried oregano, basil, and crushed red pepper, all together in a saucepan with some red wine to thin and flavor. Let simmer over low heat. When ready, I stir in a few handfulls of fresh spinach (the bagged kind works great) and let the greens wilt. Serve atop spaghetti, linguine, fettucine, or what you want, with fresh grated parmesan to taste. (Not the stuff in the green box! I get out my microplane file from the hardware store for this stuff. And a wedge of real parmesan, from Italy, please.)

Yes, my mom always used Hershey's syrup instead of Nestle's Quik for chocolate milk. I think I tried that strawberry stuff once, but I didn't like it either. I love strawberry daiquaris, however.

What I think is amazing is that whe you mix Nestle's Quik, or Hershey's syrup or Ovaltine in a glass of milk, the drinking of said milk goes much faster than it does without the flavoring.

I used to love milk, but I could never drink it as fast as I could when I mixed it with chocolate.
