Tonight, a side trip into the Salvation Army store on my way to the subway netted some interesting LP finds.
The cast LP of the Off-Broadway musical LET MY PEOPLE COME.
Two mint LPs from Hungarian performers, one guy sounds kinda like the Hungarian Englebert Humperdinck. Very catchy songs. And a rock band called Illes, who sound like a Hungarian Guess Who or something.
And I accidentally bought a Goulet LP I already have.

Santino vastly overrates his own skills, and now he has Nikki Hilton feeding that ego of his. It will be fun to watch him take a fall because Nick is the more imaginative designer. And what has happened that I am typing about dress designers on a reality show I do not know, but it IS entertaining.

DRRODZINKSKI - FILMFAX #73 had a very good Barbara Payton article with photos, etc.

You can buy one of her films DRUMS IN THE DEEP SOUTH, designed and directed by William Cameron Menzies and also starring Craig Stevens and Guy Madison for one dollar at most Dollar Stores. On DVD!!

Didn't realize it was online....yes she was.  Very sad.   Her work in an English film THE FOUR SIDED TRIANGLE is another DVD you might look at.  She had SOMETHING - but bad personal decisions got her down on every level.  :-[

You can only have too much Goulet if you already have what you bought. If anyone needs a copy of his "Hollywood Mon Amour," let me know.

I have this album as well!  He looks very pleased with himself on the cover, does he not?  :P

Well, if I'd ever ever looked that way, I sure would be very pleased with myself! :D

And, no, really, he looks quite "subdued" -- and certainly not sub-dude! -- to me!

I like the cover for WITHOUT YOU best. He sits outside on a chair looking utterly dejected.

So, was everyone already aware that the singing group THE COWSILLS inspired the TV series "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY"?
In Barry's obit in today's L.A.Times, it claims that they turned down the chance to do the show themselves because the producers wanted to cast Shirley Jones instead of Barry Cowsills' mother.

I think there was some talk about the Cowsills doing television, DR IRIS, but I am not sure it got the stage that they turned the roles down.  But then again....I didn't know who said what awhile ago!

Grapples....I am intrigued.

I hope MR BK is having a better night tonight than last night.

More bad news for independent record stores--

Now that Aron's Records is closing, another major record store, Rhino Westwood, which has been doing business here for more than 30 years, has announced that it's closing next week.

Causes include music downloading, the popularity of CD sales at Wal-Mart and Best Buy, Amazon.com, and...that enormous store on Sunset Blvd., Amoeba Music.

The L.A.Times says that they "reportedly" turned down the opportunity to do the show themselves.

Cowsill left a message for his sister after Katrina that mentioned he had no idea how to get out of New Orleans, other than waiting for a bus. And now they find his body on a city wharf. Very sad.

Interesting but frightening DR Iris.  GE Canola here was supposed to be kept "under control". Someone forgot to tell the insects.

It is becoming next to impossible to keep GE products from the food chain. I do not like this aspect of the Brave New World.

Do we really need designer fruit?

Cillaliz--
I saw MUNICH a few weeks ago, and I couldn't sleep that entire night, it was that disturbing.

Perhaps you should see it early in the day. And....have some brownies waiting when you return home. That, or a large bottle of vodka.

Iris, hi.  I wasn’t aware, or completely forgot after all these years, the Cowsills were the inspiration for THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY.

More sad news, Lou Rawls has left us.
