And the word of the day is: UNDULATE!
Undulate: (verb) to move in a wavy pattern or with a rising and falling motion

Example: Bambi undulated as she crossed the stage wearing nothing but a feather boa.

I've done some googleing, and found a ref to a song I should have known about, but didn't.  The following is from A Class Act, music and lyrics by Edward Kleban.  It is, appropriately, titled "Charm Song."

LEHMAN
Now kiddies, a Charm Song is the southern belle of musicals - it don't have to do a lick of work - it just has to make the audience smile.

CHARM SONG
NOTHIN' TO IT
CHARM SONG
YOU CAN DO IT
TAKE A LESSON FROM THE KID
YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID

CHARM SONG
BLITHE AND BREEZY
CHARM SONG
IT'S SO EASY
IF YOU WANT TO GET AHEAD
IT'S THE WAY TO KNOCK 'EM DEAD

THEY DON'T REALLY HAVTA LAUGH OUT LOUD
DO THAT CHARM SONG AND TOMORROW AT TEN
THERE'LL BE A CROWD
FOR THAT

CHARM SONG
SELL THOSE TICKETS
CHARM SONG
STICKY WICKETS
MELT AWAY
I SWEAR IT DO NO HARM
TO TURN THEIR HEADS
TURN ON THE CHARM!

Class, how would you write a Charm Song for a musical about Fred Astaire?

MONA
Gingerly!

ED
How would you write a Charm Song for a musical about the Flying Wallendas?

LEHMAN
I'd try it in swing time.

YOU'RE IN BOSTON WITH A SLOW ACT ONE
CUT THAT BALLAD AND THE SHOW WILL RUN
ON SIMPLY

CHARM SONGS
SHORT AND SNAPPY
CHARM SONGS
KEEP 'EM HAPPY
SHOT THAT SMILE
I SWEAR YOU CAN'T GO WRONG

SO LIVE AND LEARN
DO A GOOD TURN
IT ALWAYS GOES
IT SAVES MOST SHOWS

ED
IT DO, IT DO!

LEHMAN
AND WHEN THEY HEAD
FOR SARDI'S
WHISTLING RIGHT ALONG
THEY'LL TURN AND SAY
"WHAT WAS THAT CHAR...MING...
SONG?"

I wouldn't kid ya!

Today is National Handwriting Day.

Conversely, it is also Better Business Communication Day.

Good morning!

Gray, rainy, miserable outside here, but as I'm going out to lunch with friends, must brave the cold and wet to do so.

First charm song of recent vintage that popped into my mind was "Popular" from WICKED.

I really love "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood" from CAMELOT, too.

I still haven't gotten around to last Friday's MONK episode or Thursday's THE OFFICE. I will want to take care of those as soon as I get back from lunch today.

Most fun charm song I ever performed was "I'll Never Be Jealous Again" from THE PAJAMA GAME.

And there's new TV on hand tonight. Besides new episodes of favorites like MEDIUM and CSI: MIAMI, CBS is debuting Jenna Elfman's new comedy COURTING ALEX tonight and there's a new episode of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, too.

And we can't forget about the stupendous '24' tonight, either.

DR DAKOTACELT - South Pacific was indeed released on video as part of the R/H Golden Anniversary Collection.

It is out of print...but lots of Amazon sellers are offering copies for low prices here:

Speaking of BUTCH AND SUNDANCE: THE EARLY YEARS (which was a flop at the box-office), I read this morning that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are considering a remake of BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.

Let me predict now if they do such a terrible, horrendous thing, it will flop bigger than huge.

LOTS of videos on EBAY as well.  There have been two issues (at least) and you probably want the 1998 one, although I don't think it's in WIDESCREEN.

I checked the box.....full screen.

Ben and Matt would be better off remaking Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Fox is going to remaster SOUTH PACIFIC and CAROUSEL for anamorphic widescreen TVs, so maybe hold off on getting it until the new version comes out.

Of course, if it's as lousy as their OKLAHOMA!, it wouldn't be worth getting. As is, it's a highly flawed movie.

Time to go to work.  They called earlier, need me in an hour earlier than I'd been scheduled, and an hour later too.  Extra time is good.

Later.

I read Ben and Matt were going to write it as well as star in it. Wonder if they'll get William Goldman to help them with THAT screenplay?

Hmmm...it depends.  Matt Damon could probably singlehandedly make it work.  I wonder who would play which role?

But for Frankenstein, I would definitely go with Melanie Griffith.
