I think you should take the BART...exit the Powell Street station...and you'll be only a few blocks from the Curran.
What hotel are you booked into?
Why are you coming on a Thursday and why only for that day?
There is a phenomenal deli across the street from the Curran called Sam's....and down the street, diagonally across the corner from the A.C.T. (which is next door to the Curran) is Max's...WONderful food!
I'm pretty sure I'll be relying on the BART to get me to and from the Curran from the airport. -But I need to see how late it runs, and/or early it opens.
As for the brevity of my visit... Well...
Lestat closes next Sunday, January 29.
Damn Yankees closes the following Sunday, February 5.
Awake And Sing will be opening in the Kreeger at the Arena Stage this coming Thursday. -The Kreeger is the proscenium house in the Arena Stage complex. A few seasons ago, Arena would "darken" the "other" show when a show was opening. This makes it easier for those in the other show to see the show - and be a part of a very appreciative opening night audience. And, on the practical side, it eases up the parking situation and the demands on the production office personnel. So...
Damn Yankees will be dark this Thursday. -However, we will have two show on Wednesday, and then it's back to normal Friday night. So...
A couple of weeks ago, I checked some flights, my frequent flyer balance, and a couple of other things, and I figured, "What the heck?" -It will be my only chance to see the show from the audience. So...
I will be leaving Dulles at 7:00am(EST) and getting into SFO at 10:02am(PST). I'm just gonna be traveling with my overnight case - change of clothes and toiletries - and my laptop. Right now, I'm basically planning to "rough it" while I'm in San Fran. In other words, no hotel.
I'll try to get some sight-seeing done. Maybe pop into rehearsal - if they're having one. Hang out with Brad and Andy, the conductor and his assistant. Then see the show. Then hang out after the show for a bit, then probably head back to SFO since I have to fly out at 6:05am.
Yes, it will be a long day, but as long as I keep my watch on EST, I should be fine. And since the turn around time is so fast, I shouldn't have any jet lag issues.
-Oh, and, trust me, if I could spend more time in San Francisco, I would. But I have no sub for
Damn Yankees - I'm the Assistant MD/Conductor, so I'm already a "sub" as it is. *And, thankfully, after checking the weather forecasts for this week, it looks like the weather will cooperate with my flights.
