DR MattH - Those certainly were great skating moments.  Also, from Calgary, how 'bout Liz Manley's sheer joy over her silver-medal performance?

I have enjoyed all these snow pictures, however. Keep 'em coming.

She was wonderful, and I adored her short program music (MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS).

Thanks for the info DRMATTH....

Lovely snow photos, DRGINNY.  I remember that storm!

The snow is gone from our streets now, melting....NOT scraped.

Good vibes for DRJENNIFER's parents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Okympic moments..... Boitano for sure.

I think some of Kurt Browning's programs were great to see.

And the first Olympic games I remember on television in 1960....I think an airplane of American athletes crashed - it was so sad.....and that may have been the year Carol Heiss skated a beautiful program.  Of course that's before we heard her voice and realized she talked like Froggy from Our Gang.

The gist is that it snowed in NYC last night and this morning.

(I finally figured it out!)  :D

Amazing pictures, DR Jose.

Carol definitely won in 1960. The airplane of American skaters that crashed was the next year, I believe, on the way to the world championships.

If there was a 1960 plane crash, I don't remember that.

Well, I've been out to the market and back:  little traffic, a lot of smiling faces, a very quiet Sunday morning for New York by any standards, and it's so beautiful:  Holy Trinity across the street from me is a blaze of gold mosaic covered in white, the trees are outlined by snow and all the sidewalks have about a 1-2 feet-wide path stretching between Amsterdam and Broadway.

And now, to work; I'll finish Noah Racey's piece, then take up a discussion of the Toyland libretti.

You're finishing Noah Racey's piece?  I'm not touching that with a ten-foot pole or even a five-foot armenian.

Was hoping to sleep later than this, but I guess my Interanl Clock (IC, in Internet lingo) is set for eight these days.

I never has seen snow, at least not right now in LA, where the temperatures have been in the mid to high 80s.  I was in one of those NY snows where my flight was cancelled for at least one, maybe two days.

DR Jose, I was wondering if Broadway shows would be on today. I wonder if my parents will go see a musical, since they love Broadway.

But at this point I'm wondering if they are still on the cruiseship, since they did not call. I think if they were off they would have called. Although it could have taken longer due to weather.

DR Jason - what do you hear from your friend in Boston?  I heard on TV this morning that it's pretty snowy there, too.

My mom just called. They let them call from the boat.  They are still on it, but they arrived in NYC (a few hours late). But they are making them leave.

I felt so bad to break the news to my mom about the storm. She knew there was snow at that the airports were closed. But she had no idea the buses were not working all day.  And to make things worse. She didn't bring her boots (since it doesn't really snow in NYC).  I had to laugh at that one, picturing my mom walking in the 20 inches of snow with no boots.

They don't know what they will do yet. I really thought the boat would have helped them with arrangements, but I guess not. :(

Hiya, all.

I'm tucked in at the cabin - and it's a lovely day, bright sunshine, not a cloud! Odd for this time of year. The daffodils are up about 6 inches already - think they know somethin??

I have the Theater Puget Sound general auditions tomorrow - and though I am rarely sick, somehow yesterday I came down with the flu. But the show must go on - so I'll shlep into town tomorrow morning and recite. Then, gotta get the car serviced, and head back down. Just a zip up and a zip back down. Hoping to get a show up here during the summer - wouldn't it be loverly? Actually WORK up here, and LIVE IN MY HOUSE!! Whatta concept...
