And Julian Sands joins the riveting '24' tonight as this season's chief bad guy. Should make a terrific show even better.

DR Cilla, perhaps we can meet up someday...

Sure! Maybe in the spring or summer we could meet half way....is there anything half way between here and there?  I mean it would be South Dakota after all - well we could get off I-29 and go into Minnesota

Last night, my mom had gone to bed before NBC got around to showing the last group of ice dancers.  The way I yelled when the Canadian woman fell on her hip, Mom thought someone had broken in and was beating me up  :-X

Oh Ginny! The image of this really cracked me up...

Well, DR Cillaliz, it doesn't take much to make my mom think the worst.  She once thought the sound of the automatic ice maker in my sister's refrigerator was gunshots in the driveway!

DR GINNY - I hope you have a quiet dishwasher!

DR CILLA LIZ I would guess ALL the men in that town are Manly.

DRMATTH - I am distressed to read that CBS is messing up the Monday night schedule....I like OUT OF PRACTICE where it is, but as for seeking it out on another night - probably not!  Julia Louis-Dreyfuss can get all the good reviews she wants to, but she is right DOWN THERE with Debra Messing for me...

I think my first two X rated movies were seen almost concurrently and, if memory serves, both in NY.  The first was Coming Apart with Rip Torn and Sally Kirkland, and the second was, of course, Midnight Cowboy.

The sky is very blue here, but I'm not sure if it's warm or cold out, since I didn't arise until ten and have been dealing with IMs and e-mails and telephonic calls.

DR Dakotacelt - I'm not THAT far from you. We have lutefisk here too - and lots of Norwegians as well.  I like it baked not boiled with lots of boiled potatoes and butter

The lutefisk or the Norwegians?

I think the first X-rated film I saw was Russ Meyer's film VIXEN, which I saw surprisingly enough at a drive-in in Ellensburg, Washington.  Jed, maybe your mother and I........ never mind, too early.

As far as R rated movies, it was probably a toss-up between BOB & CAROL & TED & ALICE or THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE.  Hmm, one was one of the funniest movies i had seen at the time; the other was one of the most depressing movies I had seen at the time.

And for those who like COURTING ALEX, I guess you read that CBS is moving it and OUT OF PRACTICE (the show it temporarily replaced) to WEdnesday nights at 8 and 8;30 starting next month. They will replace YES DEAR and STILL STANDING whose seasons will have ended.

Please DR Matt, tell me that this is the end of both series, and not just the end of their seasons!

Monday greetings!  Back from my overnight with Mom (Yes, DR TCB, we are very lucky still to have both mothers).  Her tests at the hospital went smoothly and afterwards she wanted to go to her favorite bakery (Central Pastry, Middletown, OH).  She's probably had her coffee and danish and is taking a nap.  I'm home catching up on last night's posts and trying to figure out the rest of my day off.

I would kill for a Central Pastry birthday cake with sugar roses!

Back from my jaunt to Wall Street.  I was literally a block from Ground Zero, so I walked over in search of a subway on my return, took my first look at where the Trade Center once stood, burst into tears and left.

I'm so glad this happened after my meeting.

Here's what I figured out for the rest of my day off:  Sit down in family room to watch the women's hockey gold medal game and....fall asleep.  Is it over?  Who won?  Oh, guess there's more!

DR SWW - "The Second Greatest Sex" is crooned in the movie - but my favorite is the one all the gals belt out after the old maid school marm (played by Edna Skinner) tells 'em all about Lysistrata.  They decide to go on a "love strike" and move into the old abandoned fort....all except Cousin Emmy, the blacksmith, who don't cotton to menfolk no way no how...anyways.

Good Afternoon!

-I would wish Good Morning greetings to the West Coast contingent, but since it's already Afternoon there too...

;)

I ended up staying in bed until 2:00... Just felt tired.  Actually, I've also been feeling something going on in my sinuses and throat the past few days, and it feels like it felt when I would get chronic low-level ear infections... I never felt any pain in my ears, but my sinuses and throat would get a little sore... So... I was always advised to rest as much as I could when I got them, so... Just playing it safe.  However, I'm pretty sure the rather rapid return to winter weather has also contributed to my possible malady.

I am feeling better this afternoon, but if I happen to still feel a little "off" when I get up tomorrow morning, I may try to sneak in a visit to my doctor/uncle before heading back up to NYC.

...But I did have a nice leisurely brunch - scrambled eggs, whole wheat bagel, mission figs and green tea (China gunpowder)... And I read through The Washington Post.  -So much happening in the world.  Bad and Good.
