DR Ron Pulliam - I just happened to hear from a friend who decided at the last minute to take a week of vacation out there in San Francisco.  He arrived on Sunday, and has been hoping the sun will come out tomorrow... and tomorrow... and tomorrow...

Above is the link for DR Stephanie's account Matt, Christina and Grace's reading of The Bad Seed.

BTW, bk, she has seen the play three times and enjoyed it immensely... Each time she sat in a different area of the theater. I believe she even met you at one of the performances.

Thanks for the vibes... I am feeling a bit better today...

I love Krispy Kreme. But the one near me also closed. :(

Btw, Re: American Idol, I also will be happy when the show goes to one hour.  It's been very confusing for the rest of the tv schedule, since CTV which shows Idol also had to show TAR (they did it from 9:30pm-11:30pm) and LOST (they will show it from 7pm-8pm).

I called in some votes for Katharine last night. Her line was not busy. I still think she has the best voice of the women (but Paris isn't far behind and neither is Mandisa).

Kinnik wasn't good, and she might very well go. I want Brenna gone. I can live with anyone else.

I agree about the voice, but there's no guarantee that the best voice will ever sing the best song in the best way with the most pleasing end result.  I totally agreed with Simon that her song choice -- and the lack of involvement she had in it -- were not up to par.  I always thought Carrie Underwood had a good voice, but I never cared for a single thing she sang.

I have loved Lisa's choices, thus far.  Paris is beginning to grate on my nerves.  Sweet voice, powerful range.  I even love the song she sang last night, Simon be damned.  But she started to say something about Bette Midler last night...and she said she sang it, aside from it being her great-grandmother's favorite, because Bette Midler never....and she got cut off.  Never?  What?  Sang it correctly?  Could THAT have come out of her mouth?  Or...?

At any rate, she left me a bit put off.

Kellie Pickler was sensational.  Mandisa was sensational.

I was very disappointed in Heather and Melissa.  Kinnik and Breena bit the big ones.

And was anyone else grateful to Simon for chastising Paula for interrupting him and acting like a child?  The comments from the judges got so much better AFTER she exchanged seats with Randy.  Even Paula became more critical and less gushy in the first seat.

I guess I haven't been as attentive. I didn't notice that Krispy Kreme had closed. Not that I went there much. Oh, well. I may go tomorrow, or I may not. Anthony is on Long Island for a couple of days to take care of some business so I have the apartment to myself. We shall see tomorrow.

There is sun today...right now...if he looks out his hotel window really quickly he will see it.

But he'll have to get over the rest of the week...cold and rain and cold and rain.  And then some more, I think.

Oh, well.

Rain and thunder later today, they say.  I will wait for it.

YES DRKURT is my friend, the Evil Kurt Owens who was in a production of URINETOWN last summer and is a very funny and talented guy.  He works at a computer game publisher making sure the instructions are the same in MANY languages and that ALL of the illustrations actually match the TEXT and the games.

Happy Birthday, former DR KURT.  I have alerted him that he is receiving greetings here, so perhaps he will drop in a start posting again.

He is a GREAT fan of Mr Sondheim.

DRJOSE thanks for the Cook/Stritch rundown yesterday.  I forgot to say thanks after I read it!  Sounds like a wonderful evening onstage & off!

So what does the cover of the MP sampler look like?

THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS GARLAND - I read about this show, but didn't know that Miss Barbeau had her - uh - was connected with it.  Judy certainly didn't look like THAT illustration at her last concert in Copenhagen.

I would like to see it - AND Mr Hugh Jackman in PAL JOEY....one of my favorite scores, if NOT one of my favorite shows....  "That Terrific Rainbow" and "Zip" always make me smile!

Accordion Orchestra!!!

Do you know what?  I think that there should be at least one production of HELLO, DOLLY! with an all accordion orchestra!  I think it would be fantastic!

that would be entertaining to say the least.....

For some odd reason I keep picturing John Candy and Eugene Levy skit from SCTV of the Klemmp Brothers... ( Hopefully someone can correct if I am wrong... I am trying to recall it from memory but I am not sure.)

DR JRand - You're most welcome.

As for the MP artwork...  They've modified the logo for the American production.  Basically the same, but very American.  I like it, but don't love it.  Basically less flowery - literally - and in red, white an blue and black.

If you click on the link for DISNEY THEATRICAL then you can see the new artwork - as well as the artwork for Tarzan.

Yesterday I got in the mail:

STRAIGHT JACKET - dvd, discussed here last week.  Funny movie, but NOT a serious treatment of the subject.  Veronica Cartwright is hilarious and the leading lady does a great Hammond Organ solo!

WHERE THE TRUTH LIES - which I will watch later today.

SON OF SAMSON/SON OF CLEOPATRA - Mr Mark Forrest as the Son of Samson is enhanced for widescreen TV's, however Mr Mark Damon as the Son of Cleopatra is in full screen and not enhanced.  Oh well....

Second question for ASK BK day:

Which character in which George Bernard Shaw play would you like to portray?  How about a character by Mr Oscar Wilde?

Hey, if Donald Duck can wander around not wearing pants, why can't Tarzan?
