A drizzly, gray day turned beautiful all of a sudden. I guess we'll get an entire day of this tomorrow. Great!

I did indeed watch the MGM DAVID COPPERFIELD. It's as wonderful as I remembered it with just a cattle call of marvelous character actors. My gosh, they're astounding.

Overall the transfer is just fine though there are a couple of scenes marred by excessive grain and some scratches.

I spent the rest of the afternoon finishing up the last disc of THE OFFICE set. The episodes were all excellent, the deleted scenes as marvelous as before, and then I got to the other bonus features.

OK.....I may be the only one to admit it -- but DER BRUCER,  I want to know where the semi-superman picture came from ??

EYE CANDY II

Hey, where else can you pick up photos illustrating tid-bits like:

Quote
Reuters reports: "Using his penis as a brush, artist Tim "Pricasso" Patch performed a number of live paintings to mark the start of Sexpo in Sydney, Australia today."

Actually, I've been doing a bit of Internet searching for a valid intellectual reason:

On Oct 16th I received a EMail alerting me that the notorious Gay-Outer, Mike Rogers, was going to out a Republican Senator the following day on a National Radio Show. The time came and went, and I heard no news. I checked on his web site, and sure enough, he had outed the chap. (He even posted sound clips of same.) I started trying to find any main-stream media reports of same. (Seems I was not alone in the quest, the folks who track Internet Searches reported that the Senator's name was the number one search for the day! In the process of reviewing a bunch of "appropriate' (for the task at hand) web sites I came upon the PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK site.

There is still no mainstream media reports on the outing, unlike T. K. Knight's "To Tell The Truth" which was bannered on IMDB's home page today. Kudos to Knight for saying: "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

This summer NBC filmed several 3-4 minutes "webisodes" featured the supporting players in a mini-mystery surrounding $3,000 of missing office funds. These were shown on the NBC.com site, but since I don't have a broadband connection, this was the first time I got to see them. Really enjoyed them, but the mystery was never solved, at least, not with the webisodes on the DVD. If there were more, they weren't included.

I watched the blooper reel and enjoyed seeing many of the stone-faced characters on the show actually breaking character and becoming uncontrollable. Since all of the characters have to do face-front camera interviews in character for part of every episode, watching them crack up at some of the absurd things their characters have to say was priceless.

One of the things NBC did on April Fools's Day last year was get various cast members from THE OFFICE to do some fake and ridiculous Public Service Announcements in the "The More You Know" style of NBC's legit PSAs. These were placed on the disc. I had only caught two of them as they were spread over both Eastern and Western time zone broadcasts of NBC's prime time. Some were really funny.

Since NBC broadcast the Winter Olympics last year, they had members of THE OFFICE cast do promos for the Olympics in character, and these were also placed on the disc. I think I had seen all of these, but it was nice getting to enjoy them again.

I know they make a lot more money on advertising during sporting events than regular shows.  I'm sure that has something to do with it.  They probably charge more for the ads that would either be shown in overtime or immediately after the game as well.  It's always about money

Don't blame "the money", blame hoi polloi. The ad dollars follow the viewers' taste choices.

As our leader might udder: "DAMN THEM, DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL"

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]SCRAPPLE!!!!![/move]

Just thought I'd throw that in.   ;D

Hmmm...time for a late lunch. I have the scrapple ready, but, alas, no apple sauce with which to make a sandwich - guess I'll settle for a fried egg and scrapple on wheat toast instead.

Re: "Heroes" ...
The cheerleader is one character among several -- two of whom can fly...
re: "Jericho" and MBarnum's query as to whether anyone else watches...YES! I won't miss an episode unless I can't help it.

A brief quibble: I believe only one character possesses the flying super power (the older brother) - the younger one's super-power is the ability to "borrow" other heroes powers when he is in close proximity.

And, yes, I too enjoy JERICHO - Major Dad gets to run a town!

Good Morning DR Edi -- Randy Newman wrote the theme song for "Monk" right?

Yup - and the music for both "Toy Story" movies.

And for you show fans:

his concept album for the Musical (with Linda Ronstadt, Don Henley, James Taylor, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt.)

Back from my small shopping errand to Target.  This coming Friday is my library system's annual Staff Day, for which each department was invited to create a basket to be raffled and offered a whopping $20 to spend on it.  Figuring that we needed to find a way to fill a basket almost for free, I suggested that we do Nonprofit Nick Nacks.  Since no one else in my department had a better idea, I've been working several weeks now gathering stuff from my collection, my coworkers, and my contacts in the nonprofit community.

Today I went out and spent our allocation on the container - a chrome wire-mesh file box - and some consumer philanthropy products from

Hershey's Pledge for Survival

After I get it all put together, I'll post a picture.  Just hope I don't win back my own creation!

I'm home safe and sound.  The very long flight got in right on time and I was home by 12:30.  Vinnie came over and picked up the hard drive with the show, then I had to do a couple of quick errands, then I jogged.  Best news - the USB turntable is working fine.

There's a new Randy Newman piano book out that has the "Monk" theme and other music he's written for film and TV. Michael Roth (you may know of him, he does theatre music in La and NY) did all the piano arrangements and they are very true to Randy's complex playing style, where he manages to condense a whole orchestral arrangment into 10 happy fingers:

DR Edi - thanks for telling us about this. I have Vol. 1 of the anthology and will definitely get vol 2

Today I bought 2 new paris of slippers, one with solid soles so I can wear them inside and when I need to run outside or in the garage or other such places, the other really soft with just thin rubber on the bottom to wear in the house only....they are toasty warm on a cold bitter day

MR BK - are you recommending that the BRAINiacs watch  a particular film for tone or content?  BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS comes to mind, of course.
