I was fine with FORREST GUMP until he started walking across America. Then, I thought it kind of fell apart.

Gary Sinese was simply fantastic as Lieutenant Dan.

I've been going through my old Column A stuff to do some research, and I've decided that over the next few days I'll be doing some "Best Of" bits in my notes.  Some of this stuff was pretty funny.

I was okay with Forrest Gump until I realized that Woody Allen had done it better and funnier with Zelig.

Woo-hooo!

This is my 100th post...!

In the CD player right now is The Sons of the Pioneers: The Essential Collection.  I love those guys...

In the deeveedee player is The Critic: The Entire Series.  Damn, this show was funny!  I wish it'd lasted longer.  Lord knows it deserved to.  And the theme music by Hans Zimmer is terrific.

I've had a really eventful couple of days, but a propos today's subject:  I am listening to the correctly remastered release of the Percy Faith two-fer Lil Abner/Broadway Bouquet, with Broadway Bouquet now in its proper aspect ratio (or something like that).  :)  Oldies sent it to me free in exchange for the mono master that came out a few months ago.  The covers are identical, so I wouldn't buy this from a store--order it directly from Oldies so that you're sure to get the stereo version of Broadway Bouquet--the difference is astounding.

Full details will soon be published online at FrancesFarmer.com and in an upcoming article I'm co-writing with Frances' nephew, David, but I finally in the last couple of days have amassed overwhelming documentary evidence finally proving (to anyone but the fringiest of fringe conspiracy nuts) that Farmer did NOT undergo a lobotomy.  This has been a 21+ year quest for me (don't ask me why), and with the help of DR JR and members of the Farmer family, we hope to finally put this scurrilous rumor to rest once and for all.

George, according to OutMusic, R&P are still alive. They got an achievement award from OutMusic in 2003. Here is a link to the Web site.

http://www.outmusic.com/oma2003/honorees.html

I don't think they are currently performing together anymore but the music still exists and it still makes me laugh and think. Don't Use Your Penis For A Brain (woops, there I go again, I said the word Penis, in public - whip me, beat me, call me Helen)

Thanks for the info! ;D I've done searches very couple of years and never found anything.  It's nice to know that they're being recognized for the great work that they've done!

Robin Anderson, the Sons of the Pioneers are great!  I love cowboy songs!

Latest in the JJ flap.  A Tennessee woman has filed what is the inevitable lawsuit against Jackson, Timberlake, CBS, MTV for making her sit through lewd and lacivious programming.  The court ought to immediately throw this frivolous lawsuit out with a well-publicized rebuke to the woman who filed it and her lawyer for clogging up the already over-burdened court system with this sort of meretricious malarkay.  The lawyer oughta be disbarred.

Get over it, lady.  With that huge star ornament covering a good deal of Janet's breast, I seen more  exposed boob on your average Oscar night walk up the red carpet or your afternoon soap-opera.

You could always delete the history :)

But actually as long as you didn't go through all the pictures, I doubt your boss would think twice. I mean there are so many pop-ups these days.

Oh and the nasty neighbor parked his truck on the street (beside his drive-way and in front of the snow pile he made). He's trying to do that so the regular snow plow won't put the snow back in front of his drive-way.

But what he doesn't realize is that 1) the snowplow usually comes in the middle of the night. And 2) they are gonna honk until he moves his truck.

What we're watching and listening to?  Who's had time?  We've been unloading the danged truck with all our furniture and most of our media (the final third is on it's way, at last).  Not too much was broken, but der Brucer is steamed about what was.

I'll post more later, when we get back from dinner.  The kitchen is so filled with boxes I can't even begin to try cooking!   :o

Oh, I completely forgot today's media roll-call:

In my CD player at work:  The Music Theatre of Wichita's cast recording of HONK!  I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I will.  I got a copy of the original London cast from a Dear Reader and fell in love with it.  It's weird NOT hearing the English accents, and the guy playing "Ugly" enunciates too much...the way you don't like it, BK...but he has a very nice and strong voice.

In my DVD player:  the the non-understandable Swedish with no subtitles production of Chess.  I love this.

In my VCR:  a tape to tape tonight's hour-long "Hope and Faith" with guests Regis Philbin and Kathy Lee Gifford.

Otherwise, tonight I'm ushering (yet, again) at the Washington Center:
Quote
The Seattle Symphony's annual sojourn to the Washington Center will include Gerard Schwarz as conductor and Jane Eaglen, soprano. The evening will feature Busoni Selections from Turandot Suite, a Bright Sheng World Premiere, and Beethoven Symphony No. 3, Eroica. Ms. Eaglen will perform the Bright Sheng premiere, to be repeated later in the season when the symphony and Ms. Eaglen visit Carnegie Hall.

We get to hear it before those Carnegie Hall people!

For DR Emily:
On ‘Gilmore Girls,’ veteran stars count too.

Tony winners Edward Herrmann and Kelly Bishop comment on the show and theatre:

Btw DR George: Those are 2 separate episodes of Hope and Faith.

One with Kathie Lee and the other is a repeat of the one with Regis. I still think they should be pretty funny.

Although I need to tape the series finale of Ed :(

I have a serious question for JMK, or Jrand, or BLT, or somebody with initials:

I am afraid I don't have a great deal of knowledge regarding Miss Farmer's personal life other than her commitment here at Western State Hospital.  However, I have seen the famous This Is Your Life episode that supposedly was done after she had the lobotomy.  If she indeed was not subjected to that ordeal, what was the reason for her almost catatonic state on that program?  Was she heavily medicated?  Were other procedures done that would account for that behavior?

Good evening one and all.

I stand before you, a fallen woman.  Yes, it’s true.  Even though I did not partake of the forbidden rice that was hiding in the bottom of my soup bowl or the forbidden cheese that was not low fat or the forbidden olive or the forbidden tomato that was part of my soup and salad combo at the Columbia Restaurant.  I ate of the forbidden Cuban Bread (GASP!)  today and await your well deserved chastising.

It was warm and it smelled soooo good.  And the butter (I sinned big time) was soft and creamy looking.   I couldn’t help myself.  I ate it and what’s worse, I ENJOYED eating it. I would even go so far as to say I wolfed it down.  Oh woe is me!  How shall I redeem myself?   I was so good all week long!
