Good mornign all! I am SOOO glad I have finished all the kitchen painting I'm going to do until the counters are installed.  I'm going to the lake tomorrow and had planned to do the painting when I come home, now I can relax and enjoy my vacation without thinking about all the work I want to get done in the the last 2 days of vacation that i'll spend at my house.

DR Jane, re the pilot of ROYAL PAINS. I watched as much as i could (which was most). It't not up online on the citytv website (the channel that shows it in canada). And USA online does not let you view from canada (as don't most of the other places i tried).

Christine Lahti will join the cast of the long-running NBC hit Law & Order: SVU for four episodes next season as an assistant district attorney.

Stephanie March will also return for 10 episodes as ADA Alexandra Cabot.

I don't watch the show, but you forgot the most important (i would think) news.

Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay have inked new deals to remain on the beat for not one but two more years! (according to michael ausiello).

Here is a new show out at Universal - Florida I guess.  I am hoping NO ONE involved has Broadway aspirations.  They obviously never saw the original CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.

That is so bad.

Well, I've cleaned out 100+ emails, made the bed, dressed, and I guess I'm off to Toyland. I'll check in from there.

Druxy,   Now that you've been there awhile...How is Austin working out?  Settling in?  Culture shock?  Advantages?  Disadvantages?  Things you miss about LA?

I bought ice cream at the grocery store last Friday for the first time in at least six months. I honestly love it so much I could have it every day. Of course, I'm back to my once a week treat with it.

It simply cannot be July! I cannot account for very much of June at all. It simply flew by in a blur.

My work project today will be the Blu-ray of 12 ROUNDS. It stars the WWE's John Cena, so my expectations are low. There appear to be a fair number of bonus features, so this will take me most of the afternoon, and I may not finish until later today.

My friend Jeff has invited me over for dinner tonight to introduce me to his new boy friend. They've been dating about four months, but this will be the first opportunity I've had to meet him. I'm thinking they're getting ready to take it to the next step, but I'll find out more about that tonight.

Tonight on TCM is a Bette Davis movie I've never seen - FOG OVER FRISCO. I must remember to set the DVR to catch it.

On this day in 1731, Benjamin Franklin founded the Library Company of Philadelphia, the forerunner to what we know today as public libraries.

Maybe it is Alfre Woodard researching a role.

Greetings frpm Toyland! The AC is on and I am happy.

Druxy,   Now that you've been there awhile...How is Austin working out?  Settling in?  Culture shock?  Advantages?  Disadvantages?  Things you miss about LA?

Texas is definitely different from Los Angeles.  More laid back.  People are certainly friendlier.

On the other hand, I do miss my friends.  Even though I didn't see some of them all that often, they were there and, if we wanted, we could get together for lunch or whatever.  I would have loved to have gone to BK's staged reading a couple of weeks ago.

I AM making some connections here; meeting new people involved in local theater and filmmaking.  There seems to be some interest in several places, so hopefully, something will come of that.

I gave a talk at the Austin Network Mixer last week, a place where entertainment industry people meet twice a month.  Sold quite a few books there.

But, what I really miss most is Canter's.  Austin does not have a good deli.  I long for a good corned beef sandwich on Jewish rye.

ASK BK

Do you think any of these recordings might be potential releases?

UA Records
Jule Styne: My Name Is Jule.

Roulette
Two Pearl Bailey LPs combined with similar themes

Pearl Bailey: Back on Broadway
Pearl Bailey Sing Harold Arlen

Not at this time.  The UA record catalog went different places - the people I'm dealing with specifically have the shows and soundtracks but not the other stuff, like vocalists and jazz.

ASK BK #2

What about Composer Demos for well known shows like

Kander/Ebb         Chicago
Styne/Merrill        Funny Girl

with songs cut prior to Broadway and songs that did make it to Broadway but had different lyrics.

There is a label (Bayview?) who've done some demo releases - I don't think they sell very well.  Clearances can be a nightmare, however, depending on how the demo was recorded and by whom.  I do have quite a few of these things, so who knows.

My first question for ASK BK day....is there going to be a New York reading of TFNM?

We're thinking about it.  It depends on a lot of things - mostly cost.  If it's to happen this year, it would be in October or thereabouts.
