Druxy, Now that you've been there awhile...How is Austin working out? Settling in? Culture shock? Advantages? Disadvantages? Things you miss about LA?
Texas is definitely different from Los Angeles. More laid back. People are certainly friendlier.
On the other hand, I do miss my friends. Even though I didn't see some of them all that often, they were there and, if we wanted, we could get together for lunch or whatever. I would have loved to have gone to BK's staged reading a couple of weeks ago.
I AM making some connections here; meeting new people involved in local theater and filmmaking. There seems to be some interest in several places, so hopefully, something will come of that.
I gave a talk at the Austin Network Mixer last week, a place where entertainment industry people meet twice a month. Sold quite a few books there.
But, what I really miss most is Canter's. Austin does not have a good deli. I long for a good corned beef sandwich on Jewish rye.
