Re the leg - I've mentioned it but I really don't know if it can go without making the photo seem even weirder - tricky.  Once you really look at the bottom of the seat I'm sitting in, you'll see that he's sitting behind me and slightly to the right.

Sandy thought you were sitting on his lap.

I'm not a Photoshoppe expert, but I think someone with some photo editing skills could remove the other guy since there seems to be enough contrast to detect his "elements" and the surrounding background is dark enough.

Last week, I wrote a #Twitterplay about Dorothy Kilgallen:

(Gameshow set)
DOROTHY KILGALLEN(masked):MysteryGuest, are u in town for something special?
DEATH(highpitched voice):Yes, I am...

And that is my favorite photo of me EVER and is one of only a handful with an open-mouthed smile.

It is a fantastic photo.  Why are there so few with an open smile?

Yes, we had a hard time figuring out what that was until I realized it was the camera operator in the other chair - maybe we'll remove the leg.

Good idea ;D

From yesterday:
DR George - I hope your sister's pipe are back in proper working order.

Thanks, Jose.  The plumber came this yesterday morning and was able to find the leaking pipe fairy quickly...he only had to cut two smallish holes in the walls and turn on the water again for a few moments to find it.  It turns out that there was a t-joint with two pipes and a hose connected to it, but the hose only had a simple clamp holding it onto the joint and that just slipped off...so no burst pipes.  The plumber said that it's not supposed to be done that way.  He also said that he did see another t-joint that was done correctly, but there's no telling how many were done correctly or not.  Fortunately, my sister's insurance will cover this repair, but quite a bit of no-longer-dry drywall will have to be replaced.

Glad to hear that this was all easily fixed and the insurance is covering the damage.

And since it appears that the work was done improperly in the first place, I'm wondering if there's any additional recourse DR George's sister could and/or should take?

Yup.

VIBES THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!

And speaking of Breakfast and Ask BK Day...

bk - Do you agree with this list which was compiled in honor of National Pancake Month?

Best Pancakes in Los Angeles

I would like to try the Buttermilk, Inc.  The blueberry flaxseed pancakes at the Hollywood Corner look good.  I go to Du-par’s for the boysenberry syrup.  I wish everyone served it with pancakes.  When I was young we often had it in the house.

re: the olympics and the 10 000m long track speed skating

Did anybody else see the Dutch skater Sven Kramer get disqualified after winning the race? I didn't see it live. But my heart breaks for him. His coach told him to go to the wrong lane.  To make it worse, they let him finish the race.  I don't get why they didn't blow a whistle or something. To let a racer skate that grueling a race, get a world record and then tell him he's DQed. Wow.

No but I read about it & felt terrible for him.

Before LOST last night I took in RUGGLES OF RED GAP on TCM.  It was the first time I've seen this movie and I found it absolutely wonderful.  The ending had me shedding tears of joy along with Charles Laughten.

I love it that I can still discover gems like this!

We also watched it last night :D :D

We both got a big kick out of the following exchange.  Don't read if you plan to watch, which I highly recommend doing if you haven't seen the movie.....

He: I say, do you believe in love at first sight?
She: No. Do you?
He: No. That's why I'd like to stay for a while, if I may.

But I wonder if it would work better as a screenplay

In 2060, Lea Michele looks back on her long career in LEA MICHELE AT LIVER SPOTS, including following her triumphant FUNNY GIRL with a stage version of FUNNY LADY, having finally put aside teenage roles at the tender age of 40.

Most enjoyable DR FJL.

DR DtM - perhaps a staged reading would help you with the inevitable rewrite.

I watched SHE'S WORKING HER WAY THROUGH COLLEGE last night, and rather enjoyed it.

Reagan was very good, as he usually was in light comedies.  I particularly liked his drunk scene.

However, I was most impressed with Gene Nelson and that fantastic dance he did in the gym.  That number was as good as anything Gene Kelly ever did.

It's unfortunate that, with the exception of OKLAHOMA, Nelson never had the opportunity to appear in an "important" musical.

The quality of this Warner Archive transfer is much better than THE DAUGHTER OF ROSIE O'GRADY, but it does have some color correction problems.

I've always love Nelson's dance number in the gym to AM I IN LOVE.  Good stuff!
