Talk about Untamed Youth!

DRMBARNUM and DR DRUXY are probably the only two DR's who can name all four of these young ladies.  ;D

The brunette, I think, is Mari Blanchard.  Not sure about the others.

The super has been here to see the mess and tackled the neighbor upstairs, who's clearly been having problems with his loose toilet and doing nothing about it. In fact, while the super was here, there was water dripping from the ceiling. So, I guess a plumber will be visiting my neighbor in the near future, and I will get a ceiling repair wihen all the wet plaster dries out. Of course, the big question is, how soon will the plumber make a visit?

I'm going to test my picture loading skills again. Here's a happy kitty from the trip to Botswana last year.

DR Elmore - we're having plumbing problems here, too, but we can check out soon and walk away.  Vibes that your mess gets cleaned up promptly!

There are days, but only a few, I envy house owners. I've mopped the bathroom for the second time in two days. I'm hoping the super has got a plumber on the way, and. much as my neighbor has been irritating me, I have no urge to fight with him or get him into trouble with the landlord.

OH!

An "Eight is Enough" reunion on "The Today Show"!

That is a scary way to begin the day.

I knew there was a reason I never watched "Good Morning America" or the "Today" show or anything in the morning!  YIKES!

I just pre-ordered Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest, Love Never Dies from Dresscircle.co.uk.  Is anyone else planning on getting it?

I might--but I have to hear some of it first before I decide...

What really p's me off about this recording is that it's being touted as the cast recording for the show.  It goes on sale next week, which means that it was recorded, mixed, manufactured and packaged at least a few weeks ago.  And the show played its first preview before an audience only last Sunday night.  So does that mean that the show is frozen?  That there will be no major changes to the score or story or cast before it opens?  That this recording will be continue to be an accurate snapshot of the show?

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I suspect that ALW wanted to get this recording out on the pre-order market before any word on the show leaked out.  I understand that a composer does not make big bucks on any recording, but this being an ALW show (and PHANTOM related, to boot), it's sure to be a major seller.  So regardless of how LOVE NEVER DIES is received on stage, money is being made...

How about a picture of the legless book cover?

DR Pogue - I believe if you check Page 1 or 2 of yesterday's posts...

Somewhere out there is a retired asst. director who will see the book cover and exclaim, "They cut my damn foot off!"

Could I have an order of ground glass please, with a Drano chaser?

I couldn't agree more. I really have no interest in the show or the score at all.

Good morning!

It was cold (29) but beautiful when I took my walk this morning, but it has clouded up considerably since then, I guess signaling that rain is indeed on the way along with colder temperatures until Friday.

Unless GENTLEMEN BRONCOS arrives today, I've decided I'll do YOJIMBO today and start on MATT HUSTON tomorrow (again pending the arrival of GENTLEMEN BRONCOS which comes out on Tuesday and thus gets priority).

I haven't seen YOJIMBO in a long, long time and probably never in its correct aspect ratio, so I'm looking forward to seeing it on Blu-ray.

TOD:

My favorite mindless action picture from the 1990s is ARMAGEDDON. It's a pure popcorn picture with really banal writing and is way too long for the story it tells. Still, by the end, I was in tears. I fell right into the emotional trap they set for me.

BTW, ARMAGEDDON is coming out on Blu-ray in the next little while, so I'll be reviewing it. That should be a fun revisit since I haven't seen the movie in years.

With the Olympics over, favorites are back to showing new episodes. Well, CASTLE isn't on tonight due to THE BACHELOR wrapping up its season, but CHUCK is back and there are two new LAW & ORDERs back-to-back.

CBS has a brand new slate of comedy episodes along with CSI: MIAMI.

And HOUSE and '24' also continue with their seasons.

Now, I'm heading downstairs to clean up with my lunch out with best friend John. Perhaps a shower will clear my head.

If I don't find his scores at used CD shops, I don't buy them any more. I still don't have "Beautiful Game" or whatever it is now called. There was little in "Woman in White" that called for repeat playing.

DR George, thirty years ago I was exactly like you: every new cast recording had to be in my possession. Then I realized one day that many of them, especially the revival cast recordings with new arrangements and reduced orchestras, weren't worth the time or waste of money. I'd only be interested in the new A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC if it had Tunick's orchestrations and it does not.  As to ALW's newest, I would only want to hear it for Larry Blank's orchestrations - I do believe and he did them all, no matter what the credit says - but I'll find it down the pike in a used CD store for a lot less than its current selling price.
