Wow, here is some more very sad news, John Dye, who starred in the TV series TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL died on Monday. He was only 47. Heart failure.

I loved that show and loved him. He is survived by a brother, his mother and his father.

I signed up for an online grad school and I find out I have to go to upstate New York in early February for a four-day residency. I am not amused.

Good Afternoon!

Well... Since I had walked from the subway stop to the cruise terminal to board the Queen Mary 2, I went ahead and walked from the cruise terminal to the subway after I disembarked.  Thankfully, my trek this time was not quite as "adventurous". -Details to follow.

WELCOME HOME, DR JOSE!

I am looking forward to details and photos.

Just found out that my buddy, old time bodybuilder Clarence Ross passed away at age 84 awhile back. Hadn't talked to him in several years, unfortunately, and had been wondering what he was up to.

We had some fun chats and as handsome as he was, I could not understand why he never got into the movies. He was just never interested, he said.

He looked great for 84!

TOD

I think I mentioned these before so here there are again.

Songs from all the Alice in Wonderland/looking Glass movies

and songs from plays/movies based on stories from Charles Dicken
Oliver!, Nicholas Nickleby, Mystery of Edwin Drood, Great Expectations, Mr. Quilp etc etc

or just a recording of song from the various versions of A Chrismas Carol

Ditto!

I have been fighting off a terrible bout of depression this week.  I wish I had thought to take tomorrow off and make it into a four day weekend.

I believe TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL was filmed in SLC.

By the way, did anyone else notice the "cultural" moment last night during the moment of silence?  Those were most likely all LDS folk who stood up to pray--very common in the Mormon faith.  I had to laugh a little as Pres. Obama looked around, started to stand up, and then decided to just sit there.

DR Elmore - traffic seems to be moving fine on Central Avenue.  Yes, I do like at-home vacations, but I'm still a little bummed about not waking up in Charleston, SC, this morning.

I understand, but after Canton, OH, what joys can Charleston provide?

Shrimp 'n' grits!

DR Ron - since we're not going to Charleston this trip, will we be able to get shrimp 'n' grits in Savannah?

And pralines too!

And now...

Dinner.

Alas, I will miss not having Richard taking my dinner order, Alphonse taking my wine/cocktail order, Grego filling my water glass, and Melvin checking on the progress of the meal.

;D

Well, Richard and I ended up having lunch at home and going out for dinner instead.  Not a biggie - we had a BOGO anniversary coupon from Panera.  I did sneak out this afternoon to see some new Vera Bradley, but didn't buy anything.

Speaking of anniversaries, January 16 is the anniversary of the day my mother was killed.  It  was the Sunday before Martin Luther King Day.  It only lines ups every seven years or so, but I knew that this year it was that way.  I was dreading putting up my new2011 state calendar, because I knew I would have to stare at it all year.

Surprise, surprise, for the first time in my 28 years with the state, their calendar has an error.  Friday says the 14th, Saturday says the 15th, Sunday says the 14th, and Monday says the 17th.  I get to skip the anniversary this year!

Speaking of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, I have been playing the Kritzerland CD of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and A CHILD IS BORN as many times as I can get away with before the neighbors call and complain.  However, since I will be putting the CD away until next December; today I ordered a DVD of the Fredric March 1954 A CHRISTMAS CAROL.  SCORE!
