I made it to Stella's in time for a late lunch of her famous Brunswick Stew* and Grilled Cheese Sandwich - which, I believe, was the first meal I had her location near VCU 25 years ago! I also made it there before Stella, herself, left for the day.

We shared a nice hug, and very quick catch-up session. It was really great seeing her again. Her daughter, Katrina, was also there. It turns out her son, who is now 22(!?!), is a student at Parsons in NYC, and her daughter is graduating from high school this spring. -I remember giving Katrina shoulder rubs between shifts when she was pregnant with both of them.
The food was just as delicious as I remembered, and I'll be heading back later this week for a loaf of her wonderful holiday bread, Apple-Cinnamon-Black Walnut loaf. The new space is great too.
It was a very wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
