Is anyone here a fan of Adam-12?? My number one favorite TV show! Another one I keep hoping will make it to DVD..although my credit cards are hoping they won't!

Lulu...to which states has Skyline migrated? I know you can get it in neighbouring states like Kentucky and probably Indiana. Has it encroached further? Of course, it will only mean something to me, when they have a Skyline out here in LA.

Maya...for what it's worth, my wife gets a flu shot every year and every year, she still seems to get a bout of the flu. I never get a shot and I never get the flu.

Adam-12 had quite a little run on TVLand just recently. Over now, of course. TVLand continues to decline, with gems like Mr. Ed and The Flying Nun replacing shows like Barney Miller and Mary Tyler Moore.

"1-Adam-12, 1-Adam-12, see the man about..." what a strange way to phrase it! What was the deal with that, anybody know?

I liked Adam 12 okay, but dearly miss Dragnet. You've gotta love the episode where Frank's wife is out of town, so buddy Joe comes to stay at his house. They have a card party with a couple of other guys, Frank makes really disgusting sandwiches involving pimento, peanut butter and minced garlic, neighbors keep breaking up the card party to ask Frank for favors since he's the friendly neighborhood cop, and finally Frank and Joe bust a "college student" who comes to the WRONG door to pull her magazine subscription scam.

Why don't they still make shows like that today?

Charles: You're right that Skyline Chili is mainly in the midwest: Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan - but it's also got a couple of restaurants here in Florida! I first saw one a couple of years ago and couldn't believe it! Steak 'n' Shake just opened down here, too - The Hubby and I would eat there every weekend if we weren't concerned about...oh, mortality and stuff.

No Skylines in LA yet, but just you wait!

True MATTH - but the absolute WORST about not playing fair with clues was Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law who would always in the last few minutes come up with a clue or evidence that we were NEVER told about....the date on a letter - or even stationery from a hotel written after an addition was built on it but dated before....how would we know that? It was outrageous!

Do they sell them in canada? I love reeses pieces. Is it very similar to those?

I have not seen peanut butter M&Ms. But now I must find them!

This is similar to the manicotti recipe I make. Although I like to use frozen spinach. And sometimes I chop mushrooms. And it's easy and cheaper to use lasagna noodles.

Here is another interesting manicotti recipe that I have made. The very interesting part is that you don't have to boil the noodles before stuffing them. But you must chill them overnight (or make them first thing in the morning). It's a very different idea.

There are certainly some weird new chocolates out there now. While at the pharmacy yesterday I saw some that I had never seen before (mostly orange flavored).

One of the Sunday papers had a list of this week's DVD releases. One was a Flash Gordon box set and the other was a Marx Brothers box set. Since there was no infor other than the release date I wonder if any of you DRs have details as to what either of these box sets include.

Spaghetti a la Carbonara

1 lb. spaghetti
1/2 lb. pancetta
2 tbs. Olive Oil
1/2 cup dry white wine
4 large eggs
1 cup grated cheese (whatever combination of Parmigiano or Romano you like best)
2 cloves garlic
Freshly ground pepper to taste

First, put a large ceramic bowl in the oven to warm up (200° should do) and put a pot of well-salted water (it should taste like salt water, not just water with salt in it) on the stove to boil. If you don't have a pasta bowl (which, to be honest, I don't), you can finish the dish in the skillet you fry the pancetta in (which will significantly increase the chances of the sauce breaking).

Dice the pancetta into 1/4" to 1/2" cubes and fry in a little bit of olive oil until lightly browned. Add about a half cup of white wine to the pan and reduce by about 1/2. Set this aside. Yes, there's gonna be a lot of oil and fat. Get used to it.

Boil a your pasta until al-dente. While the pasta is boiling mix four eggs with two pulverized garlic cloves (one of the few instances where the use of a garlic press is perfectly fine) and a cup of grated cheese (I use 100% parmigiano, Cooks Illustrated recommends 3/4 cup parmigiano and 1/4 cup romano, traditional recipes call for 100% romano) until well blended. When the pasta is cooked, drain and toss with the cooked pancetta. Add the egg mixture, toss, grind in about a teaspoon of black pepper (less or more to your preference) and serve.

Serves 4-6 adults (depending on how much they can eat -- might serve BK and one other)

That is a good one...the one where the officer is killed. My favorite is the one where Reed and Malloy aid the single mother whose car has been stolen. In the trunk of the car are her children's Christmas gifts, including a TV set, and it is Christmas Eve. Love that episode!!

The show, and particularly Malloy, remind me so much of my late brother Jack, who was a state police officer. Martin Milner is almost the spitting image of my brother!

My lasting memory of that episode is when the two officers inform the slain policeman's wife her husband was killed. I can still see her walking slowly up the stairs....
