I have just written the word: CURTAIN.

Eighty-five very full pages (the nature of writing in Final Draft).  I'm sure I'll be adding another page or two of additions, although who knows.  I like the ending very much.

And some people on this here site will be very happy to know that there is an extended little tribute to Valley Of The Dolls and especially Miss Patty Duke, with one line in particular quoted several times - it is, in fact, the final line of the play (should I be happy with what I just wrote).  That is because the leading male character's name is Peter Neely - but he hates his first name, and his close friends call him Neely.  I'll let you all figure out the quoted line.

I come here because I like the people. And it's (usually) a clean site.

I agree with you Laura and they all have sparkling personalities....

Gadzooks! It took me awhile to catch up after last night's Hainanigans. That's right, a new word: Hainanigans! That's HHW shenanigans for those seeking clarity.

20 pages! Excellent!

The whole idea is to post while the chat is going on - we HATE when posts stop because we're doing a live chat.  Forty-two minutes from now.

I do have say that since I have joined I have rather enjoyed chatting with you all and learning more about theatre. It has been fun.

Frankie Howerd also had a very funny half-hour show called UP POMPEII which was a  burlesque farce set in ancient Pompeii, very much echoing FORUM and its Roman comedy antecedents in style. He, of course, played the wily slave.  I've got them in Video format...don't know if they ever came out on DVD.

I vaguely remember watching this when I was younger.  I'm pretty sure I liked it.

There are isolated cries of racism over on another chat board because of the Drama desk nominators completely shutting out COLOR PURPLE.  I don't want to get into the fray over there, lest I be decried as a suck-up to some of the nominators, but they also completely shut out [title of show] after all.  I'm not sure I agree that disliking a show is a reason to shut out all of its elements, but racism is a tag that just doesn't seem to belong in this situation, in particular when you look at the history of these nominators as a group.

If you shut out all the elements because the overall piece isn't worthy of awards, would "Last dance" from THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY have its Oscar, after all?  :)

I've decided.  I'm replacing my verbal tic of "sort of" and "kind of" to "after all."

Glad you are liking the music from Mrs Henderson Jack.. Will Young is what entertainment is all about! A worthy winner of a format copied throughout the world with such commercial crass. He is a delight.

JRand - There's a show whihc is actually called "[title of show]" - it's about a team of writers' experiences creating a show especially to submit for a festival.

Your second guess is, of course, correct, jrand.  I can't tell you what a treat it was to quote that line - I think it's used three times and, as I said, at this point it's the play's final line.

Chat in thirty minutes.  For those on AOL, it may work just fine, but if there are any probs, just use IE or Safari.
