Now that I have watched the men's free skate I went back & read all the skating posts from last night.  I basically agree with everything said about the skaters.

It is a rare treat to watch a skater fall & then give a wonderful performance.  Instead of looking sad he had a big smile...what a guy.  If he hadn't fallen I wonder if he would have gotten the Gold.  Fall or no fall, he still skated rings around Plushenko, IMHO.

Miss Dixie Bell has indeed had a ride in the car with a trip to the drainage authority.  She ran me ragged.  Between panting on the floor, she is grinning from ear to ear.

I thought that was a joke.  What is special about the drainage authority?  It sounds like a place to dump a dog, not to play. ;D

Unlike the church cemetery, the drainage authority is paved, for one thing. . .
There are other benefits for Miss Dixie Bell there.  A flight of wooden steps, which she climbs with ease (up and down), a nice slanted driveway, loads of yardage where she can run and the pavement keeps her nails filed.
It's only a short, less than a minute, drive and Dixie Bell loves to ride in the car for short jaunts.

There are a few pictures here:
http://www.deercreekauthority.com/v1/html/home.html
but, they're rather small, still you can get the idea of her nice play area.

Personally, I feel that all drainage should have its own authority.

I guess that BK and I are going to have "dueling" Hollywood memoirs.  At least, both books will probably be coming out around the same time.

I recently signed a publication contract with Bear Manor Media for mine, which I'm calling MY 45 YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE.

I suspect that they're very different books, but more I will not say.  I have decided to stay put, publisher-wise - I also thought about Bear Manor, since neighbor Tony Slide has done several books with them, but there were too many downsides for me and not any upsides.  It's all still Print On Demand (although at Bear Manor there is no set-up fee to pay), but I've been with Author House for so long now they gave me an incredible deal this time, which includes returnability for the book (which means bookstores can order it and return any unsold copies - bookstores will not order stuff they can't return) - there is normally a very expensive charge for this but I got it free, as well as sixty free books, which basically covers the set-up cost, plus a bunch of other little perks.  Also, I want hardcover, which Bear Manor don't do.  But they're very good and do a lot of show biz stuff, as do Author House.  It's really six of one half dozen of another in today's publishing world.

So, I'm sure Druxy and I both made the right choice to suit our various and sundried needs.  As to coming out at the same time - don't know.  I normally have books in September.

I don't know if it's still available, but the first season of CHEYENNE was released onto DVD.  [I have it.]

The funny thing about it is that several of the scripts are adaptations of old Warner Brothers movies, including THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE, in which Clint Walker does the Walter Huston role.

Actually, I saw that episode when I was a kid...before I ever saw the movie.

DR Jane, there's no water for Dixie to go into. . .the street level building is office space, the hilltop building seems to be storage. . .I'll take my own pictures someday soon.

Aside from the fact that we had very similar parents [I've read the Kritzer trilogy], I'm sure they are very different books.

Tonight I am going to Wine on a Dime, a fundraiser for Camp Imagination - a summer program for kids.  It's with Gary Vaynerchuck, who I had not heard of before now, but who is apparently a lot of fun.   http://tv.winelibrary.com/

Kathryn Grayson in CAMELOT - 1962....photos.

http://www.kathryngrayson.com/kgcam.htm

She was long past her maidenhood by then

Very ungallant, DR Michael.

Matt I think since you've known me for 20 years or so that I was making a joke. The character of Guinevere according to the song  Simple Joys of Maidenhood supposed to be I guess around 18 or so. Miss Grayson was in her 40's by then. So a teenager she was not. Miss Andrews was 25

I just got a pleasant surprise.

Basil Rathbone's grandson just ordered one of my photocopied editions of my long OOP book on Basil.

His son, Basil's great grandson, is playing Tybalt in a production of ROMEO AND JULIET...the same role that Basil played in the Norma Shearer/Leslie Howard movie.

All packages have been shipped.  Had some lunch, am almost ready to approve our new master (just need to have a conversation to discuss one little thing).  Went to pick up the photos that were supposed to be ready this morning.  They weren't.  I may get them before the end of the day, at least I hope so.

As for the Men's Skating - NBC is showing a Men's Skating Recap today/Saturday from 3:00pm-5:00pm EST (maybe 3:30pm-5:30pm) - Check your local listings. All the major "skates" are supposed to be shown.  -And, then they are supposed to be available on the web.  -Although, NBC has already come under a lot of criticism for their rather stingy Olympic video content on their site.

Thank you SO much for this information. I'll be sure to set the DVR to pick this up. Maybe I can at long last see Plushenko's long program.

You're welcome, DR MattH.  Although...

I just checked NBC's online schedule, and, of course, there's nothing listed in this afternoon's schedule about figure skating.  But, again, that may mean nothing.  Or nothing. :-\

*We set our DVR here yesterday morning as soon as we saw the promo run during "The Today Show".  From the promo it looked like it was going to be a dedicated two-hour block.  -Although, I did notice that they did run a recap of Lysacek's win yesterday afternoon during the 3:00pm block.  We shall see.

Actually, it ended up being on Universal Sports, an NBC satellite channel which I don't get. But the video is now on msnbc.com although I will have to download the software to play it. I'll do that later.

I assume you're talking about Takahashi. He had a sensational skate apart from the one big spill on the quad (shouldn't have done it; should have done a triple-triple like Evan did: almost the same value as a quad) and a little slip late in the program landing one of his combinations. And SO much personality! I just loved his routine ("La Strada") and his personality just burst forth at every second - very magnetic personality on ice.

I got the short programs I wanted to save onto a DVD-R. There were a good many of them. I'll be more selective about the long programs since (a) I don't have as many to choose from and (b) they're longer, and I don't want to run out of space on the disc.
