Well, you've read the notes, the notes rocked, and now it is time for you to post until the New Year's Rockin' Cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHAFFER!
-
Well, you've read the notes
Why, yes. Yes, I have! :)
-
And I can't think of a darned thing to say!!
But it's a post, nonetheless.
(Nonetheless is one word!!)
-
Last night, I was going to post a response to this post by Der Brucer, but the day was locked. Fortunately, I saved it before I tried to post and here it is:
I'm going to Border's to use my 30% off coupon on ANY ONE ITEM
The one item limit is for books, only - CDs/DVDs are 30% off - unlimited.
Shop 'til you drop.
der Brucer
Not for me. The coupon that I got specified only one item. I bought two DVDs and a CD and it applied to only one...fortunately, the most expensive item, but only one. What I got was a CD/DVD combo, The Ultimate Christmas Collection (http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Christmas-Collection-Setzer-Orchestra/dp/B001DZDTEK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1230712657&sr=1-2) by The Brian Setzer Orchestra (to which the coupon was applied), the DVD What I Should Have Said Was Nothing - Tales From My Secret Public Journal (http://www.amazon.com/Mike-Birbiglia-Should-Nothing-Journal/dp/B0012Q3SZA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1230712971&sr=8-1) by Mike Birbiglia (he's very funny!) and a four-episode DVD of "Topper" with one episode written by Stephen Sondheim. :)
-
I guess I'd better see about having to get to work and back in what DR JoseSPiano has indicated may be
fowl foul weather.
-
Not for me.
Because DR George is special.
:)
-
I guess I should try to sleep.
-
Yes, you should! We don't want you a-poopin' out on us for The New Year's Rockin' Eve Bash!!

ROTFLMAO!! ;D
-
***EXECUTOR VIBES*** [and an aspirin]
for DR TCB!!!
-
I guess I should try to sleep.
That should be my New Year's Resolution. I don't get enough sleep...and haven't for a long time. It's not that I have any trouble actually getting to sleep, it's just that making the decision to turn off the computer and TV is what's difficult. ::)
-
So on that note (F#), I'm going to bed.
Good night, Singdaw and BK. :)
-
Good night, DR George.
BTW, I checked out Mike Birbiglia on YouTube. He funny! ;D
-
Good night, DR George.

And he's VERY cute! ;)

Turn that computer off, DR George. Do it. Do it now! ;)
-
Turn that computer off, DR George. Do it. Do it now! ;)
Thanks! Good night.
-
And he's VERY cute! ;)
That's nice, but we don't concern ourselves with such things here at HHW. ::) ;D
-
I was up very early since I went to bed before 8:00 PM last evening.
I hope I can last until midnight, but the sordid truth is that I rarely, if ever, make it to the dropping of the ball.
-
Since I am here now and proabably will be sleeping later - Happy New Year to one and all and also to all and one
You have all been so comforting and supportive during this bad patch and I truly value your friendship. I wish each and every one of you a wonderful, happy healthy and prosperous new year

ASK BK
What has been the one (or more) question(s) you have hoped some would ask on ASK BK day but has never been asked?
The above question doesn't count
-
I'm glad you are feeling better this time around, Vixmom. Sleeping through it all sounds like a good plan.
-
Can someone remind me how to insert a photo from ones PC (not from a website) into a reply,
I thought I knew how to do it but I must have forgotten.
I hate using the attach system the photos come out so small
-
With a nod to Arnold Brockman and his song of the day.
The Book of the day: Faust by Goethe
The Movie of the day: The Little Mermaid
The play/musical of the day: Into the Woods
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Someday, I suppose I'll be able to sleep past 7am, but not today. Ah, well.
Rob and Mary Linda will be back from Michigan in time to go on a New Year's Eve double date with us - movie and Chinese food. This is how Richard and I have been celebrating Dec. 31 since before we were married.
-
Good morning, all! Before I openede my two tax bills from NY State yesterday, I was feeling flush and urchased a filing cabinet from Office Depot. I needed one more so this seemed the perfect time to order it with my holiday coupon for $25.00 off the purchase price. Since it turns out they're charging me $25.00 to deliver it, the coupon didn't go far.
At any rate, I will work on BABES IN TOYLAND until the cabinet arrives and then head down to the office to pick up the Fed Ex packages, sort through them and bring home the remainder of Act One for its final edit.
Last night I had dinner at Artie's with my friend Chris, followed by a stroll through Barnes & Noble, where I picked up my 2009 datebook at 50% off. Whwn I got back, I started going through 2 weeks' worth of catalogues and magazines, read a bit of the Count's revenge, and went to bed. Tonight I will stay in but i might run down to Chris' and watch a movie. Since he lives on 57th Street, think he wants to run into midtown and see what's going on so I may not leave 82nd Street. And that's perfectly fine.
I have no other news so let me thank all my HHW friends for being one of the bast parts of 2008 for me. I wish you all a very happy New Year and pray God and 2009 are good to all of you and those you love.
-
Ta DA! New Year's Eve day!
DR MS put img in brackets - add the location url of the photo - then put img in brackets with a / in front of the img.
-
I don't watch the Kennedy Center Honors - which somehow always turns out to be more about the performers than some of the honorees.....
The only thing more outrageous to me was about ten years ago we had The Jackson Family Honors.....
-
Off for some shopping.
Hopefully we will return anon. With a question.
-
A non-what?? ;)
-
Oh, PAGE 2.
-
I am at work. And it is starting to precipitate here in Connecticut.
-
Ta DA! New Year's Eve day!
DR MS put img in brackets - add the location url of the photo - then put img in brackets with a / in front of the img.
These are not url photos but from my computer. The same processs?
-
DR Michael S. - your photos need to be "hosted" - for example, through PhotoBucket.
-
DR Jose, i had never heard of let me google that for you . com. Very neat thanks!
-
The filing cabinet has arrived! This wait was short, and as soon as Fed Ex tracking tells me the packages to the Institute have arrived, i'm going down to pick them up.
-
DR Dakotacelt, i'm not sure if anyone else got mixed up but when i see DF i think of "dear friend" not "dear fiancee". I thought you two had broken up. :(
-
I really enjoyed Idina on last night's KENNEDY CENTER HONORS. and i agree the last number was really lovely.
-
I'm still having problems with my monitor. I can't get it to a resolution that i like. I had it on 1280/768 which was perfect for viewing pictures. But it cuts off the left corner of my internet explorer. And it doesn't feel comfortable reading HHW. :(
-
I got to see my niece yesterday (for the first time in 5 days). The first thing she asked was what i had for her to eat!
-
DR Michael S. - your photos need to be "hosted" - for example, through PhotoBucket.
You used to be able to post them from your computer.
-
Yes, DR Jennifer. You still can.
But DR Michael S. said that he didn't like the tiny results. I was trying to offer a work-around. :)
-
I PM'd him the directions.
-
The filing cabinet has arrived! This wait was short, and as soon as Fed Ex tracking tells me the packages to the Institute have arrived, i'm going down to pick them up.
Life is a cabinet, old chum!

Question for BK:
What kind of wall calanders have you for 2009?
-
I woke up this morning to brilliant sunshine but it's become more and more hazed as I've been up and about. I'm pretty sure we are to have the same kind of awful weather that DR Jose predicted for the NYC area. I'm still not sure if I want to go to a party tonight or stay at home and cocoon.
-
Happy New Year's Eve to All!
-
More interesting question for BK:
What was your strangest New Year's Eve?
-
Question for BK:
What kind of wall calanders have you for 2009?
They were trying to develop one for him called "L.A. Drivers I Have Admired," but they couldn't fill up all twelve slots...
-
If I'm up at midnight, which is highly unlikely, I shall go to the end of my driveway and hit pot and pan lids tgether and shout, "Happy New Year!"
-
I used to send the kids to the sidewalk just inches from the property line by the cranky neighbor's house with pot lids.
-
I think someone should make a HHW pets calendar.
-
Question for DR Jose (or anyone who knows):
Why is the Chrysler Building featured in the advertisement of ROAD SHOW?
-
If I'm up at midnight, which is highly unlikely, I shall go to the end of my driveway and hit pot and pan lids tgether and shout, "Happy New Year!"
Do not do this with enameled cookware! You have no idea of the trouble we got into when my sister and I banged the enameled cookware at New Year's when we were kids.
-
Good morning!
Another gorgeous day though it is supposed to be cooler today than the 66 we had for a high yesterday. Just in the 50s today.
-
I'll be working on EL NORTE today. There were tentative plans to go to lunch, and if that had happened, I was going to postpone it until tomorrow, but since those plans fell through, I decided I'd do EL NORTE today and take tomorrow off.
-
On TV Tonight!™
ABC - Dick Clark's PrimeTime Rockin' New Years Eve!
NBC - New Year's Eve with Carson Daly
PBS - Live from Lincoln Center: Susan Graham
-
and shout, "Happy New Year!"
And not "Underpants!" ??
;)
-
Pat Harrington is alive and well, DR DAkota CElt.
Your fiancee must have been looking at the AOL headlines feature yesterday that was a "Whatever became of...." on Mr. Harrington. It wasn't an obituary.
Today's AOL "Whatever became of...." is Haley Mills.
-
Heading down now to clean the den (didn't get to it this morning), then check the mail, and start cooking lunch.
WBBL.

Page Three Dance!!!
-
And now I'm REALLY going!
;D
-
And THAT'S what comes from men and women dancing! :)

Still snowing here.

Getting better resolution on your computer? is that what's referred to as "New Year's resolution"
-
or was that the joke to begin with?
-
I'm up. More painting and laundry today. I might make something with apples to take to my friend Sabrinia's place tonight. DP and I are going to hang with her and her daugher (and the daughter's bf). Later on, my friend Alyssa is coming by to pick up the Samuel French issue of the score for The Wiz as I had to bow out of her production due to family conflicts.... which is just fine, we haven't even started yet! For now, I'm off
-
Every New Year's, i paint for umpteen hours
-
I just spoke to Pat Harrington.
I can personally confirm that he IS alive and well.
-
So much for good intentions! Fed Ex deliveredto the office, no one was there or the building was closed, God knows, but now I have to schlep down to the damned Fed ex center at Leroy Street near Soho to pick up the cartons after 4 pm today since I need the work here. I sent them originally to the office since I wouldn't be here Monday to receive them.
When I shipped them last wednesday, the 24th, I had two options: drive to Miamisburgh to the Fed Ex Center or drop them at the Fed Ex stop in my hometown on Vail Street. I foolishly chose the latter, even though I was in Miamisburg an hour later. The lady in the Vail Street location who received them told me that they would close at 1 pm on Wednesday and be closed on Friday. What she didn't tell me was that my packages would not be picked up by a Fed Ex truck until Monday, so she screwed me over completely, which still pisses me off. I had to beg like crazy for the delivery today - they're bouncing the extra charges back to the Vail Street store - but I still screwed up this delivery because I didn't want to go down to the office and wait all day for the delivery. Crap.
-
Every New Year's, i paint for umpteen hours

Just referring to Matthew's painting reference immediately above that post

I just spoke to Pat Harrington.
I can personally confirm that he IS alive and well.
So we can start the rumor that Haley Mills is dead.
-
I had an LP of Mr Pat Harrington....something about a Hero....and it had a big sandwich on the front. I remember it being pretty funny....it's still here somewhere!
-
he IS alive and well.
But he ain't living in Paris?
-
To reiterate what the article DR JOSE posted yesterday, I offer this article from today's edition of The Indianapolis STAR:
http://www.indystar.com/article/20081231/LOCAL18/812310385
-
DR DRUXY you might mention to him that most of us familiar with Indianapolis found their set pretty damned ridiculous. Or not.
-
so she screwed me over completely
And here I thought mid-westerners were so nice! ;)
Sorry for the complications, DR elmore3003...
-
DR ELMORE there haven't been dependable shipping services since the Pony Express stopped running.
-
So we can start the rumor that Haley Mills is dead.
We can, and we will. ;D
-
Question for BK:
What kind of wall calanders have you for 2009?
I was given a calendar of classic musicals, but I don't ever put up calendars on the wall.
-
Hayley Mills that is.....wow.....the Y fell out.
-
My question for ASK BK day....
What is the most beautiful movie costume you think ever to appear on the screen?
-
ASK BK
What has been the one (or more) question(s) you have hoped some would ask on ASK BK day but has never been asked?
The above question doesn't count
I think I've been asked just about everything - can't really think of a question I'd have hoped would have been asked.
-
More interesting question for BK:
What was your strangest New Year's Eve?
Well, if earlier this morning is anything to go by, it could be this one.
-
My question for ASK BK day....
What is the most beautiful movie costume you think ever to appear on the screen?
I love all the costumes, male and female from Singin' In The Rain.
-
Still snowing here.
[a DR JMK reference]
It is still not snowing here.
-
Hiya, folks.
Elmore - jeez, I'm so sorry. And I just read that IRS horror story from yesterday - holy $#%@^#^!!!
So glad that Vixmom is reacting well to chemo. Fingers x'd.
Long day yesterday - more restful today. But I do have to locate that horrible rot smell in this apartment - it started a couple of weeks ago, just a whiff of Something Not Right - now it's the whole damn apartment - maybe a dead rat or something inside a wall. I have candles burning, and even shpritzed Febreeze around - now I'm gagging on the rot smell AND the Febreeze... oy.
-
Anyhow - where did this decade go??? What an eventful year it has been. One foot in front of the other all the way. Lots of happytude, lots of stress, lots of changes, new adventures, new friends. A challenging and wonderful year.
-
Forgot to mention the ant infestation...
-
The ants are dantsing for Page 4!!!

Well, this morning was a doozy and I'm still a little shaken but not stirred by it - not weirded out by it, since something like this happened back in 2001 prior to the advent of this site. It must have been around six-thirty or seven, since it was not quite light out yet. I woke up from a dream, and I had to go to the bathroom. Even as I was getting out of bed I knew I'd gotten up too fast after awakening - something you should never do for reasons you'll understand momentarily. I got to the bathroom - whilst doing what needed to be done I was very, very dizzy, the result of having gotten up too fast. I had to hold on to a little shelving unit in back of the toilet. I finished, and tried to get back to the bed quickly - I didn't make it. I lost my bearings and I think I either stumbled or blacked out for a second, because instead of getting to the bed I went down, unfortunately near the dresser. I don't know if I went completely to the floor, but it was close. I was brought back to complete consciousness by pain in my chin, my knee, and my ribcage. I realized I'd begun to collapse and I obviously did so while banging into the sharply-cornered dresser. I stumbled to the bed and lied down. I felt my face and everything felt okay, my knee hurt, and my ribs hurt only a little, so I just laid there and got my bearings. I could feel the inside of my cheek which felt pretty raw and I'd obviously bitten it somehow, as one sometimes does. After about ten minutes, I got up and went back to the bathroom. I had a nice little gash and bruise going near my chin, but no real blood - just real redness. I washed it and put a Band-Aid on it. I then got back into bed, where I've been until now. When I got up again I looked at the dresser, which was very interesting. I'd knocked a candle off of it, and everything on it (TV, stereo speakers, stereo) had been violently shoved out of its usual places (not by much) and all the CDs that were stacked were lying all over the top of the dresser.
-
and shout, "Happy New Year!"
And not "Underpants!" ??
;)
I suppose I could always bang my underpants together and figure out something appropriate to yell. If I were wearing my underpants at the time, I'd probably just yell, "Ouch!"
-
Wow - Bruce, I'm so sorry. Yep, we're at That Age where falls are pretty serious.
-

OH, God, Be careful, BK!!!
-
Rikki recently blacked out and fell violently backwards, after getting up off the couch too fast - and now needs yet MORE back surgery...
-
We should probably ALL be in walkers, by now...
-
This same sort of thing happened, as I mentioned, back in 2001 - I woke up from a dream, got out of bed before I was really awake and alert and I passed out before I ever got to the bathroom - just for a second, but I went down, and the back of my head poked a nice little hole in the hallway wall. Now that I think of it, maybe that happened after this site was created. Today's event could have been much worse - could have really hit one of the sharp corners of the dresser. Thank God I didn't. But I don't like having a Band-Aid on my chin, and the sore knee may preclude me from jogging today, although I may give it a whirl, just to see if I can work it out. My ribs aren't sore at all, thankfully. And that was my morning.
-
I'm going to guess that the Long Jog will be considerably longer in a walker...
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
Well, it's been that kind of year, hasn't it?
-
Well, it's been that kind of year, hasn't it?
Most definitely!
-
Wow. I'm glad you are not hurt any worse than you are, BK. My goodness!
-
My question for ASK BK day....
What is the most beautiful movie costume you think ever to appear on the screen?
I love all the costumes, male and female from Singin' In The Rain.
WOW! And then so many of them showed up in Ann Miller's number in DEEP IN MY HEART!
-
I am SO frigging sick of the construction next door. That is all.
-
Oh dear......yes.....these falls can be very dangerous.
-
George--you should have gotten 30% every DVD and CD you got, at least if your a Border's Rewards Member. As TD will concur, they're having a storewide sale until January 4. You don't need a coupon. If you didn't get the discount, you should take the receipt back and demand one.
-
Also, George, the MP3 arrived, safe and sound--thanks so much. Though I must say whoever thinks that song sounds like Sergio's vocalese tune "Zanzibar" (by Edu Lobo) is INSANE!! :)
-
BK, have you thought of installing some sort of Cirque du Soleil rigging around your house to keep you upright? :)
-
Do be careful, BK. I am glad you were not hurt even worse.
-
I am SO frigging sick of the construction next door. That is all.
Send Frances over there with her seltzer bottle.
-
Not sure what to do about jogging and the knee. I definitely banged it pretty hard, but I also don't like to give in to that sort of thing and I know that sometimes you can work these things out if you work them out.
-
Health vibes to BK!!!
-
DR DRuxy,
I am glad you verified Pat's well being.
By they way, did you ever know Donnelly Rhodes or Ann Wedgeworth?
No reason, other then the mention of Pat Harrington somehow reminded me of these other two 1970s tv people (who are both favorites of mine).
-
Off to take Bosco to his vet appointment.
-
I'm not sure if the promotion is still valid, but if you're looking for a (relatively) cheap Blu-ray/Game system, SonyStyle.com was having a PS3 sale for $249.99 ($150 off retail). You need to have good credit and be eligible for instant approval for their Visa, and jump through a couple of rebate hoops, but it's a great price.
-
Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... Happy New Year's Eve!
-
bk - If you still feel a little "off" a few hours from now, I'd suggest getting to an ER or least to a friend/doctor - someone who can check your blood pressure for you - and maybe even your ribs and skull. Otherwise, it's good to know you're taking it easy now, and that your injuries were relatively minor. ~~~~~~~~~~
-
Just noticed the gardeners couldn't be bothered to show up yesterday - so I had to take the trash can out and got it out there just in time for them to empty it.
-
I still fill just a teeny bit queasy, but I think it's just from the whole weirdness. I took the Band-Aid off and it little "gash" is quite minor, so that's good. I cleaned up the dresser - I should have taken a photograph of it.
-

Or just do what I do when they good coupons come up: I just print off multiple copies, and go multiple times throughout the weekend. ;) *That method really came in handy down in Northern Virginia where there five Border's locations within a five-mile radius. So, if one location happened to be out of an item, well... :)
-
The interesting thing about it is that I knew it was going to happen - the possibility of it, which is why I was trying to get back to the bed quickly. I should have just allowed myself to sit in bed and getting fully awake before jumping up and heading to the bathroom - because this happened years ago, I'm usually very careful about that - but this morning I just wasn't.
-
Last night, I was going to post a response to this post by Der Brucer, but the day was locked.
I posted the all-you can-buy CD/DVDs the other day:

He's still alive, too.

Ooh, speaking of Abe Vigoda, here's a very rough draft of the sequel/encore (which nobody asked for) to the Jeremy Piven-Fish-Zip parody. Just coicindence that Druxy would mention Abe Vigoda
Fish!
Lincoln Center’s South Pacif was a find!
Fish!
Yeargan’s ocean set brought clambakes to mind!
Fish!
I think Jaws on stage would really kick ass
Fish!
With Bill Finn’s great songs and starring Lance Bass!
I could go for any marlin
Blue or Brando would be darlin’
Fish
I must have my quota
You can hook it, you can trawl it
Anything if you can call it
Fish!
Get me Abe Vigoda
Fish!
Tell my dresser to run out for some shark
Fish!
Where the hell is Marky Mark?
-
BK, I'm sorry to hear about your fall today. My dad about 10 years ago had a similar problem and his fall resulted in a huge gash next to his his eye socket. I'm still grateful he wasn't blinded. I hope you're feeling better now.
I forgot today was the deadline for estimated NY State income taxes so i made out my check and ran to the post office with it. They closed at noon; i arrived at 12:20.
Luckily, a postman told me he could take it and get it postmarked today. So I trusted him. I know this will come back and bite my ass.
-
Lar - Today is the "deadline" for NYS esrtimated tax to deduct it Federally in 2008. The very very worst that can happen if something goes terribly wrong with the postmark is that the NYS payment will be deductible for 2009 instead of 2008.

You realize this is Portland's KPTV, don't you? Where was MBarnum when this was happening? :)

Michael "Dick" indeed. MBarnum, I'm appalled you took such an obvious nom de---well, nom de dick.

MR BK - a quick trip to the Quik-Clinic might be in order, as DR JOSE suggested. Just remind them that you are a doctor on TV....

George--you should have gotten 30% every DVD and CD you got, at least if your a Border's Rewards Member. As TD will concur, they're having a storewide sale until January 4. You don't need a coupon. If you didn't get the discount, you should take the receipt back and demand one.
As I noted above - the sale does not apply to "selected Borders" in the hinterlands like Seattle/Tacoma or Dayton.

Keith said he had something like that happen to him due to an inner ear problem: Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Check it out. It is the most common cause of dizziness.
He hasn't had a repeat episode in two years. Fortunately he was in bed when it happened & didn't get out until it was over; lasted about four minutes. He said it was very disconcerting as the room was literally spinning.
Vibes this never happens to you again.

I have a lovely calendar that was sent to me from Australia! I also have a Futurama calendar and one that has theater posters from the Library of Congress. :)

Not for me. The coupon that I got specified only one item.
I posted the all-you can-buy CD/DVDs the other day:

It's just a general discount code, they are not tied directly into your Borders Rewards Card, so...

Well, the painting is done. It was a chore. Small room with furniture piled in the middle (very Les Mis like) away from the walls made it hard to navigate. I'm not a small person, so it was a bit challenging painting this damn room. But, it's done, it's not perfect, but it's the first room I've ever painted -and it will be my home studio, which is kinda cool if it looks sort of organic.

Back from the long jog - really glad I did it, actually. The first half-mile was hard - my knee was very sore, but by the time I finished the first couple of miles it was feeling a little better and by the end of the run, even better. It's still sore, but not quite as "stiff" as it felt pre-jog. I went pretty slowly and didn't push, but it's such a pretty day and I enjoyed it, sort of. I just am heating up the Jacuzzi - I think that will help matters, too.
-
The thing I need to learn is to not jump out of bed like that - ever. As I said, I've been pretty careful not to do it, but for whatever reason, this morning I wasn't careful. And I knew it as I did it, I knew it in the bathroom (I should have put the toilet seat down and sat until it passed), and I knew it as I tried to hurry back to the bed.

I forgot today was the deadline for estimated NY State income taxes so i made out my check and ran to the post office with it. They closed at noon; i arrived at 12:20.

I certainly wouldn't put undue pressure on the knee by doing a long jog. Giving in to a little ache is one thing, but I'd play it safe and put average weight on it today until you're sure it's OK.
But that's the way I am: always take precautions when the body has a weakness.

It's been windy here today, so that's made the beautiful, sunny, cloudless skies and the environs seem colder than it actually is. Still, it's so nice for December!

I began my viewing today with last night's LEVERAGE. It was an outstanding episode, filled with surprises and wonderful sequences. I spent most of the afternoon on EL NORTE on Blu-ray. Haunting, sad, memorable. I loved it. Both lead actors were so easy to love and root for.
The Blu-ray was mostly terrific, and I was surprised at how dynamic the mono sound was. Naturally Criterion used linear PCM at 1.5 Mbps, so of course it was far superior to a typical mono DVD track at 192 kbps.

Yikes! Hopefully Bosco will be back to normal soon!

I also listened to a good chunk of Nava's commentary for the movie. Though he describes what we're watching, he does then go into some detail about his ideas, motivations, intentions, etc. A very entertaining commentary, and his speaking voice is very pleasant to listen to.

I had to schlep down to Leroy Street to pick up the UPS cartons and it's cold down there by the river, let me tell ya! While I was waiting for the packages to be found, I noticed several empty cabs driving by. When I left with the packages, there were no cabs in sight, so I waited a bit holding two heavy packages until a cab with his "not in service " light on drove by and stopped. This happens when the driver thinks he can make another fare while heading to this final destination with the cab. The driver, an African man, asked me where I was heading and I told him. He paused a second, and I thought, he's going the other direction; I'll keep waiting. Well, I was wrong. He kindly drove me to my door before he went off duty. The bill was $12.50 and I gave him $25.00. He deserved it.

No, I haven't been sitting here like so much fish all afternoon. Richard and I decided to go out to do some errands and I didn't log off. Shortly I shall be on my way to the editing room, then to an early supper, although I have not been told the address of the restaurant, even though I called the people I'm supposedly supping with two hours ago - I also mentioned that I'd had a scary morning, but that hasn't resulted in a call back, hence I may just forego the early supper because that sort of thing doesn't please me at all.

Photobucket.com is a free on-line photo storing website. I created a HHW group so that we could post photos (mainly) when the HHW photo folder is full. I'll PM the instructions. :)
-
DR Dakoa, I’m glad you had such a nice birthday.
-
- along with about 15 other people who were standing around me on the sidewalk.
And what were you doing to attract such a crowd?
der Brucer
Well, a bunch of them were already there. Stuck to the sidewalk.
-
Strangely enough, after that brief outing into the arctic air, I really feel like heading out for New Year's Eve tonight. Go figure. ??? ;) :)

WOW, bk - what a scare!!! Glad you weren't more seriously injured. And like others here, I wish you would go get it checked out more carefully.

DR FJL is really on a roll today - making me laugh and laugh! :D

DR Michael S - Just make sure to upload them at "full size". Otherwise, just attach them to your posts here - as I mentioned earlier. When we click on the pics, they "expand".

Well, the painting is done. It was a chore. Small room with furniture piled in the middle (very Les Mis like) away from the walls made it hard to navigate. I'm not a small person, so it was a bit challenging painting this damn room. But, it's done, it's not perfect, but it's the first room I've ever painted -and it will be my home studio, which is kinda cool if it looks sort of organic.
bk, vibes and crotales on your "recovery" from your episode. Hope the day gets better.
Congrats Matthew. It can be a pain to paint, but I think you'll love having it done
-
I just spoke to Pat Harrington.
I can personally confirm that he IS alive and well.
Good news!:)
Just spoke to Roger Corman.
He's alive, too.
::)
LOL, are you calling everyone you know to see if they are alive?
-
But Mr. Singdaw, my "One Night in Bangkok" post on ATC is sitting there like so much fish. :)
-
The thing I need to learn is to not jump out of bed like that - ever. As I said, I've been pretty careful not to do it, but for whatever reason, this morning I wasn't careful. And I knew it as I did it, I knew it in the bathroom (I should have put the toilet seat down and sat until it passed), and I knew it as I tried to hurry back to the bed.
If you feel it coming on again, perhaps you should just sit down wherever you are until the feeling passes. Glad you're feeling OK now
-
It's good to be assured that Mr. Corman has not kicked the bucket (of blood or otherwise)
-
Here's the ATC post in question, amid rumors that Mr. Jeremy Piven - suffering form mercury poison - took a 15-hour flight to Bangkok
One night in Bangkok and you hurled your oysters
The fish was tempting so you had it twice
You find some cod in all the holed-in cloisters
And if you're lucky then the cod is nice
Have some mahi-mahi with a little rice
-
Phoenix is the only place you've ever lived where it is warm enough at midnight to go outside and make merry.
OH. That may be why I don't hear people who may be out banging on lids

VIBES TO DD BOSCO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Sorry, DR FJL - I've been slacking off on my ATC viewing as of late. Thanks for sharing another gem with us here! :)
-
I was going to go to a movie, but it's cold out and I got home and decided I didn't want to leave. I stopped by the store and picked up a lean steak and some precooked shrimp to make a nice New Year's Eve dinner. After dinner I am planning to stay home. I'm considering priming the downstairs bathroom, but not sure if I want to mess with it tonight.
-
The jacuzzi was helpful, and I've showered. The cut on my chin isn't really visible anymore but there is a rather unseemly red bruise there, and a smaller on the other side of the chin. Another inch up and I would have split my lip and maybe lost some teeth.
Just tell people that you got into a brawl.
-
If you haven't been to ATC, then you might have missed the Daily News report about Piven Thai-ing one on:

This is the last day to parody in 2008, i'm told.
-
Well... I should get ready to join my friends for dinner. -Which I know is going to be an adventure since we're just meeting at some semi-random restaurant in midtown - without reservations - and then just taking it from there. I still may end up back here later to bring in 2009, but if I don't.... Well, I'm pretty sure I'll be back in time to bring in 2009 with the West Coasters.
*****
2008 really has been such an incredible year for me - and for all of us. I've been trying to think back on the past 12 months over the past few days, and have realized just how "packed" this year has been. The good, the bad, the surprising, the promising. I want to thank everyone here on HHW for their friendship and support - especially during the time of my Mom's heart surgery. I know that I could not have gotten through all of that without those patented HHW Vibes. Let us hope that we all will be less VIBE-in-need over the next twelve months.
2009: Here We Come!
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from the Land of OZ
-
I just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Happy New Year!
If Greg gets finished with his job in time, we will celebrate by going to the theatre that has recently been restored in Marietta. Since we were involved in the preservation efforts (even though the city councilman will still own the theatre and enjoy the benefits of the millions of dollars that went into saving it) along with our friends, it will be sort of a bittersweet evening, I'm sure as we'll see some arch nemeses(?) along with good friends. I know that I will feel thankful we made the move to Atlanta!
I am still catching up on all the posts---what a dramatic end-of-year! So many vibes, so little time.
So...see you next year as we check in with the west coasters upon our return!
-
I AM ON MY WAY OUT SO I WON'T BE BACK UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT EST.

After the false rumor about Pat, I figure I better make sure.
;)
-
Just catching up.
Thank you for the coat hanger DR Uncle JoJo.
-
I think someone should make a HHW pets calendar.
I want one! Who is volunteering ;)
I'll see what I can dig up!

Also that no one else welcomes the New Year with as big of a bang as our dear Bruce did!!!
-
Thank you DR FJL for the Howie Greenfield parody.
-
Jane - Well, Jose did say he's seeing someone for the past few months, so...
-
DS Rob and DG Mary Linda arrived about an hour ago. Richard has gone out for our Chinese food and we're all going to a 7:30 showing of Valkyrie.
Since I probably won't be back until next year:
Happy New Year, HHW!!!
-
Thanks, Tom.
Who's Howie Greenfield? Any relation to our own DR GreenSleeves?

Oh, THAT Howie Greenfield.

and the Tim Rice lines too.

Thank you for checking DR FJL.
-
A few DRs will recall a CD I compiled a year or so ago with songs having lyrics by Hal David - songs he didn't write with that Bachtoback guy.
-

Is it 2009 is Austria yet?
-
Wednesday morning greetings!
Aren't you tired of seeing the same movie every year?
-
Thanks, Tom.

I hear it's not very good, but I'll watch it tonight anyway.

Hayley Mills died?

I'd heard a version of that story, but it was Mel Tormé's wife saying that the other guy wrote "Chestnuts Roasting On an Open Fire" and Mel wrote "La La Lalalala Lalala."

Happy New Year DR François.
Yes it is Janaury 1st in Paris and in Vienna.

BK, have you thought of installing some sort of Cirque du Soleil rigging around your house to keep you upright? :)

I've decided to go to a party this evening. It should be a low-keyed affair and the couple have a house from across a park where they shoot off fireworks. Plus, a friend will pick me up and drive me there, so I can drink a little (just like Mrs Reardon.)
-
I think Mr Kimmel would do well to check his blood pressure. I also think too much exercise and weight loss is dangerous at age 60+.
Take DR Uncle JoJo's advice and get medical advice BK.

They were trying to develop one for him called "L.A. Drivers I Have Admired," but they couldn't fill up all twelve slots...

JAN - Fred Flintstone
FEB - Ben Hur
MAR - Paul Revere
APR - Morgan Freeman (Miss Daisy's driver)

derBrucer, I don't think that any of your school chums qualify.

I hope DD Bosco will be OK.
A year's supply of Bollywood purchases is a VERY SMALL price to pay DR MBarnum.
There was a TV segment of people giving up their horses, cats and dogs to animal shelters in these hard times (In the UK). I'd rather be selling off my CD collection etc if there was a choice. Of course I'd sell off the children too before the pets!

But then Jo Jo was a man who thought he was a loner.

I wonder if Jo Jo had met any Reservoir Dogs?

Georgie!! Happiest of Happy Noo Yeerz!!!
-
I'm leaving work now, but I'm not going home. I need to make a quick (yea, right) trip to Costco, then to my sister's house. Tonight, my sister, her boyfriend, my niece and I are going to the local restaurant, Budd Bay Cafe (http://www.buddbaycafe.com/).
-
Georgie!! Happiest of Happy Noo Yeerz!!!
Thanks!! And to you, too!! ;D
-
But Mr. Singdaw, my "One Night in Bangkok" post on ATC is sitting there like so much fish. :)
Well, that should tell you something about ATC .
-
In past years, we and our parents have gone to Anthony's HomePort (http://www.anthonys.com/restaurants/info/olympia.html), but Budd Bay has more options for my sister the vegetarian and my niece the vegan. Our parents are not going with us this year because my mom had knee replacement surgery a couple of weeks ago and needs to be able to move her knee and keep her leg elevated. A restaurant is not conducive to surgery recuperation.
-
Okay, now I'm leaving, but I'll be back before midnight.
Happy New Year to those who get there before I return!! ;D

Meet Phoebe. She's hard to See because of her coloring. She was stinky and had fur missing and was in pretty bad shape when she wandered into the garage where DR Samantha hangs out and smokes her cancer sticks. She slowly started trusting Sam and lived in their garage. She was declawed so someone had owned her at somepoint.
Winter came and she went in the house. Both Sam and her mother have been sick so the DR told them they had to get rid of the cat. (I would get rid of the doctor with advice like that without an allergy test) Anyway, they have decided to take the DR advice so Phoebe (Named for the Friends character who sang "Smelly Cat" ) Moved in with my parents today. Mom claims she's just there for the winter, but she's a real lap cat. She's sitting on my mom in this photo. I have a feeling the two of them will really hit it off. Phoebe doesn't play, she just wants to be held and purr. Mom carried her around all Christmas eve. This could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship

I'm may ask Skip to go to the New Year's party, that's here in the building, without me. I always love this party and the people there, but I know how I feel when someone shows up somewhere seeming ill and likely to pass around what they have - and while I'm not feeling terrible, i don't want to be the person who's sniffling and coughing at a party.
-
Dan(the Man) - Be sure to have a nice White Zindel (or whatever they call that wine) in honor of Mrs. Reardon
Thanks for the idea. I poured a little leftover Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Christmas dinner.

Phoebe is a cutie!! :)

I would like to echo the thoughts expressed by others here today. HHW is a rare and magical place. Gathered here, under the watchful eye of our talented and charming host, is one of the most eclectic and amazing groups of people that I have ever known. In a world where no one cares about anything except for Number #1, this is the most caring, generous, and loving group of individuals who together, have become a remarkable and delightful family.
Thanks to each and every one of you for being there each and every day, morning, new, or night; to offer a kind word, a laugh, or especially a hug. May the New Year bring you health, happiness, love, and prosperity.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We were surprisingly busy at the store today.
A lot of customers were planning out their New Year's Lucky Meals. The Southern contingent was purchasing blackeyed peas, for Hoppin' John. The Pennsylvania Dutch contingent was purchasing saurkraut and pork, for the same reasons. And a few were purchasing both, just to make sure their bases were covered.
For some reason, we completely sold out of potatoes. Potatoes! And we won't get another delivery for a couple of days! (And it wasn't just our store - one of the guys in the produce department told me that the other branches were also running low!)
Potatoes! Who'da thunk!
-
Phoebe is a darling! Does she have tuxedo markings on her chest?

We watched the Kennedy Center Honors program and weren't too impressed. I would think it would be very difficult to really make this kind of a show come off well.

Back from the editing room and early supper at an Eyetalian restaurant. Let the partay begin. Let's have merriment and mirth and laughter and legs, shall we? Let us sip the bubbly Diet Coke. I stopped at Marie Callender's and got a slice of pumpkin pie because I feel I deserve it after my morning event.

Tomorrow (1) is my wife Sandy's birthday.
I'm told that, for the first few years of her life, she thought that all the fireworks were for her.

TCM is showing all of the THAT's ENTERTAINMENT movies tonight.
-
DR Cilla, Phoebe is very pretty. I agree an allergy test to cats was in order. They could have been sick from anything, including something that was on her. Next time Sam & her mother visited your parents maybe they can give Phoebe a bath in an unscented gentle soap & then rinse her well with distilled water. That has always helped my allergies to cats since I'm really allergic to what gets on them, not to their dander.

But he said he'll get back here before midnight (but may go back after midnight.)
-
DR Cilla, Phoebe is very pretty.
I'm secretly hoping that she stays with my parents permanently. My mother loves pets and hasn't had one in years.
-
Happy New Year to one and all.
We will probably be in bed before the anointed hour.
Tomorrow!!!
DR Ben, i got your phone call. Thanks!
DR Ginny, did you enjoy CRANFORD?
-
Last night I watched SATURDAY NIGHT,SUNDAY MORNING for the first time in over 40 years.
The camera certainly loved Mr Albert Finney from the moment he appeared onscreen.
Very good movie with some fine performances.
-

Feel better vibes. It is nice of you to stay home, & convenient the party is in the building making it easy for Skip to stop in at midnight to be with you. :)

DR elmore, we have Cranford coming from NetFlix on Friday.
-
'night.
I'M WISHING ALL DRS & THEIR LOVED ONES A VERY HEALTHY, HAPPY & PROSPEROUS 2009,
-
Dog Bosco appreciates the vibes very much!
And so do I!
-
JRand, Daisy is a very cute pup! What kind of personality does she have?
And I hope Phoebe becomes your moms new best buddy, DR Cillaliz!
-
Daisy was very quiet. She has been in three new environments in the past few weeks....and so she wasn't quite sure what to make of another car trip and new people.
But she liked being held and liked to see everything.
-
I switched over to the HONEYMOONERS to see Ed Norton sleepwalking because next up....Better Living Through Television aka Chef of the Future.....one of my FAVORITE episodes ever!
-
A wonderful New Years to all of the HHW family, guests, pets, and lurkers!
-
I've an early call to work tomorrow, so I'd better sign off.
Happy New Years to all.
Vibage.

Here we go....
But can it core a apple?
-
Thanks, Jane. It's always a lovely party, but (and maybe it's in my mind) when you're sniffling and coughing at a big party, I sometimes feel like people are thinking "Oh no, I'm going to catch that cold if I shake his hand or hug him hello."
-
Wasn't Cora Apple in The William tell story?
-
Or was that fiona apple?
-
Glad to see you haven't lost your sense of humor!
-
Well, Toby and Dylan have been making it a regular party. They've been letting me give them treats whenever I've wanted to; they're very good about making sure I'm having a good time.
-
I'm spending New Year's with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. They are a hoot together.
-
Cora and Fiona were both very a-peeling.
-
Alice, this could be the biggest thing I ever got into!
Ralph, the biggest thing you ever got into was your pants.
-
I'm spending New Year's with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. They are a hoot together.
Are they as good as Ralph and Alice Kramden.
Uh oh....here comes the rehearsal.
-
Last night I watched SATURDAY NIGHT,SUNDAY MORNING for the first time in over 40 years.
The camera certainly loved Mr Albert Finney from the moment he appeared onscreen.
Very good movie with some fine performances.
It CERTAINLY did! I marveled at his looks and his performance in TOM JONES some weeks ago. Hadn't watched it in awhile, and he was terrific. Mr. Poitier at that time in his life could do no wrong, but I would not have given him the Oscar for LILIES OF THE FIELD. It should have gone to Albert Finney (or Richard Harris or Paul Newman).
-
I finished up the bonus features on EL NORTE to begin my evening of viewing. In addition to the almost one hour "making of" docuemntary (which was fascinating with all the trouble they had; having their raw film stock kidnapped and having to pay a $30,000 ransom to get it back). There was also the director award-winning 1972 student film with the same tone as the first two-thirds of EL NORTE.
-
For tonight's fun movie, I decided I wanted to watch a James Bond movie, the one (other than MOONRAKER which I loathe) which I hadn't watched in the longest among of time. That honor fell to LICENCE TO KILL, Timothy Dalton's second and last Bond adventure. Carey Lowell is awful and Mr. Big is nothing more than a big drug dealer, but it is still a far finer Bond film than it's been given credit for. I always forget that the very young Benecio del Toro is in this.
-
I ended my evening with an NCIS episode, not from season three that I'm watching for the first time. No, I took last season off the shelf and picked the episode where Ziva is almost killed on an undercover assignment. I had watched the episode twice already, and I STILL didn't remember the identity of the other murderer. Came as a complete surprise.
-
Today in the mail I got the Kevin Costner SWING VOTE Blu-ray disc for review, but I had already decided I'm taking tomorrow off, so I won't get to it until Friday. Doesn't come out until January 13th, so I have plenty of time. That and WITHOUT A PADDLE: NATURE'S CALLING are the only review discs I have left in my queue.
-
Merry New Years Greetings!!! I thought I would be in bed before now but somehow managed to stay awake.
Well, to be honest, Sheena is pretty scared of all the fireworks that are going off all around us. They are VERY loud this year. Some are even shaking the windows!
I just want to let everyone here know how grateful I am for your friendship, I don't know what I would do with you and all the vibes you have sent me.
I'm hoping 2009 will be a stress free year full of fun, laughter and the good things life has to offer for all of us. :)
-
I'm sorry to read about your experience, BK. I hope it never happens again!!!
-
Healing vibes to DD Bosco!!! I pray that tumor isn't what Bear had.
-
A pox on Fed EX for causing Dear Elmore any kind of problems.
-
2008 is winding down.....
-
This is a partay?
-
One of these days, Alice.....one of these days. Pow! Right in the kisser!
To the moon, Alice.....to the moon!
-
We need some ACTION.
-
Dancing.
-
Excitement.
-
Thrills.
-
Page fifteen would be nice.
-
This was a party:

-
Chills.
-
I decided to watch Scrooge tonight. What a wonderful movie - and put me in a fine mood.
-
Albert had kind of a James Dean - Marlon Brando thing going on to begin with...
-
My goodness, it will soon be 2009 on the East Coast.
-
I am watching the Twilight Zone marathon. I even caught a few that I didn't remember.
-
At long last page fifteen.
-
It's always a shock for me in SCROOGE when the young Scrooge makes his first appearance......Finney has some great makeup as Old Scrooge....and he is so handsome in the younger scenes.
-
Now I want to watch TWO FOR THE ROAD.
-
Tick tock tick tock. About 10 minutes of the year left here in the Eastern Time Zone!
I am having a glass of wine.
-
Have you ever seen An American Christmas Carol? Henry Winkler does the same thing. He is so handsome when he plays young Scrooge.
-
IMHO
-
I'm feeling festively festive.
-
My knee really is a little sore right now.
-
But the rest of me is in good spirits.
-
Again I say, "Happy New Year to All."
And God Bless Us Everyone.
-
I still have nothing to say.
-
Both Finney and the film were not well reviewed when it was released - NOW, of course, they all forget they said that and the film is a classic as is Finney's performance. Some of us knew it back then, however.
-
Again I say, "Happy New Year to All."
And God Bless Us Everyone.
Amen!!!
-
Eight minutes to East Coast New Year.
-
Will we never get to page sixteen? Actually, we haven't been to page sixteen in ages.
-
It is quiet here all of a sudden. More then likely they are waiting for BIG moment to start up again.
-
Gee, am I to be the last poster of 2008?
-
Yes, DR DANISE - I remember Henry Winkler's performance very well....
-
About two minutes!!!
-
Yes, DR DANISE - I remember Henry Winkler's performance very well....
Good or bad?
-
Both Finney and the film were not well reviewed when it was released - NOW, of course, they all forget they said that and the film is a classic as is Finney's performance. Some of us knew it back then, however.
Ain't it the truth. I loved it from the time I saw the previews.....bought the soundtrack album and the WHOLE thing!
-
Well, the official balls drop at midnight California time - so, there's three more hours of partying ahead. I'm trying to think what to watch next. Anyone seen Cluny Brown?
-

Good of course.....
-

Ugh.
-
What are the other choices?
-
Two minutes to the first drop of a ball.
-
I Had A Ball.
-
How fast can we get to page sixteen?
-
One minute to East Coast New Year 2009.
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page sixteen.
-
Happy New Year!!!
-
Happy New Year, HHW Family!!! ;D
-
Stuffed celery for everybody in the jernt!
-
I hear fireworks!!!
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR EAST COAST HAINSIES/KIMLETS!!!
-
I hung around so I could wish all the best new year ever. I'm heading down now to wish the same to my bed.
Good Night!
-
I hope that everyone gets all of their fondest wishes in 2009!!
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! 2009!!!! WOO AND HOO!!!!!!!
-
The first ball has dropped. But one must always have two balls dropping. Two Balls Dropping - that's the title of my next novel.
-
I hope that everyone gets all of their fondest wishes in 2009!!
Amen!!!
-
And I found my TWO FOR THE ROAD video!!!
I shall welcome the new year with Audrey and Albert!!!
-
But you all must come back for the West Coast Ball Drop as we continue our New Year's Rockin' Eve.
-
The first ball has dropped. But one must always have two balls dropping. Two Balls Dropping - that's the title of my next novel.
Oh a medical tome?
-
Two For The Road is a wonderful motion picture entertainment. Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn - they don't make 'em like that anymore.
-
To bad DR Ginny isn't online. She would see "Our" street on TV.
Poor Sheena is trying to hide under the couch. I have to go comfort her. BRB.
-
I shall return at the end of the movie ....
Take it away middle of the US!!!
-
Two For The Road is a wonderful motion picture entertainment. Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn - they don't make 'em like that anymore.
Ain't it the truth!
-
Perhaps I'll have a Diet Coke, or perhaps I'll save that for midnight and have some water instead.
-
How fast can we get to page seventeen?
-
Welcome four GUESTS.
-
Happy
Eleven O'Clock New Year!
Seems like just yesterday we were worried about Y2K and now it's already 2009
-
That's the hardest thing to believe of all - that we're closing in on decade two of the aughts.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
2010: The Year We Make Contact.
-
Well, I'll see if there's any viewing that takes my fancy.
-
I was just thinking that it's hard to believe that it was 2 years ago that I tried to open that bottle and it broke in my hand. I didn't know at the time it would be the last New Year that Mom and I would have together.
-
I do hope I'm not too sore when I wake up tomorrow morning. And I shall NOT get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
-
Had my mother lived, she'd be over 100 now. So would my father.
-
I FEEL like I'm over 100 now.
-
At long last page seventeen.
-
I do hope I'm not too sore when I wake up tomorrow morning. And I shall NOT get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
-
No one can say we didn't get to page seventeen.
-
Danise
100
I know I'm over 100. :) ;)
-
Had my mother lived, she'd be over 100 now. So would my father.
If my mom's father was alive he'd be between 125 and 130 years old!
-
There were fireworks suspiciously close a few minutes ago. I think they were on the property next to the church. I don't hear fire trucks, so that's a good sign.
-
Lord, it's LOUD around here. I wish you all could hear it. Poor Sheena doesn't know where to go.
-
I looked outside and all you can see is smoke. It looks like fog but smells like gun powder. I always worry that something will go on my roof and catch it on fire.
-
That sounds scary, Danise.
-
Someone had money to burn. Talk about it going up in smoke! :)
-
OK, Gang! I'm going to poop out early. Good night, and get home safely!
-
Well, I think we had the Grand Finale. It's starting to quiet down. Soooo on that note, since I have been up since 5AM yesterday, I think I shall make my good nights.
Have a WONDERFUL, SAFE evening!!!!!!! Happy New Year one and all!!!!
-
On a couple of our channels there are people in Times Square waiting for the ball to drop. Yup it's time delayed on half of the channels but not ont the others. We get to see it twice!
-
The first ball has dropped. But one must always have two balls dropping. Two Balls Dropping - that's the title of my next novel.
I assume it is a sequel to The Randy Vicar and the Cryptorchidic Choir Boy.
I you need reference material I suggest "Orchiopexy for Dummies".
der Brucer
-
I think it's time for this cowgirl to get some sleep. Happy New Year everyone!!!
-
Happy New Year to one and all.
-
From what I've read, folks who have trouble watching Old Yeller ought not see Marley and Me.
der Brucer
-
Happy New Year to you folks back east, south, north and mid-west!
-
May 2009 be stupendous for each of you, and me, and everyone!!
-
Still waiting for the New Year here in AZ (along with you west coasters) ....
-
Happy 2009 my darlin' FJL -- remembering that New Year's Eve in Paris .... magical !
-
And I spy Cilla and derB -- Happy New Year to you two darlings as well ....
-
Where is everyone? -- thought this place was supposed to be rockin' -- or did bk mean rockin' asleep in the rockin' chair?
-
If you have a problem with this, or if you don't, it's Dan(the Man)'s responsibility. It gave me something to do while Skip was at the New Year's party. :)
Parody lyric by Fred Landau (Parody of “Calendar Girl”)
I love, I love, I love my colander guy
Yeah, sweet colander guy
I love, I love, I love my colander guy
Every single time that we eat
Fusilli
I'm so silly in love
Angel hair
He comes from heaven above
Cavatelli
Yes, i covet that guy
Al dente
Do I really have to tell you why
Yeah, yeah
That pasta and pan
I love, I love, I love, I love
My colander man
Every time, every time
That I eat
Elbow
I know he’ll be my beau
Bow tie
To the bridal suite we’re gonna go
Buckwheat
Yeah, we are buckin' a trend
Corkscrew
And I’m hopin’ it’ll never end
Yeah, yeah,
The pasta we strain
I love I love I love I love
My colander swain
Every time, every time
That we eat
Farfalle
You know I wouldn't fall too far
Lasagna
But his noodles are the best there are
Rotelle
I tell ya that I’m never bored
Rigatoni
That fella should get an award
Yeah, yeah,
For my fav-rite food
I love I love I love I love
My colander dude
Every time, every time
That we eat
I love, i love, I love my colander guy
Yeah, sweet colander guy
I love, I love, I love my colander guy
Yeah, sweet colander guy…
-
Happy New Year Miss Karen. I was about to sign off for the night when there was one big boom at midnight and poor Boo jumped about 4 feet in the air. I think it's time to sleep now.....
-
BK
You might post a picture of William Holden in your bedroom as a caution.
der Brucer
Holden bled to death after hitting his head on a night stand.
-
We're so close to page 18, it seems a shame ....
-
Wow! 17 pages! I have a lot of ketching up to do!
The concert was fun. I was really excited about seeing Billy Joe Royal, but he is an old Marietta boy, and got his start playing some of his first gigs at this theatre, so it was neat to see him there.
The theatre has some cheap finishes ( it looks like they ran out of money) but at least it's open and functional instead of just sitting there rotting and waiting for the councilman to utilize the demolition permit he's held on this theatre for years.
We saw the mayor and several formal city councilmen and had brief, polite exchanges with them. I'm sure they don't miss us!
Then we went with our architect and another friend over to a nearby friend's house to drink champagne and ring in the New Year.
So---happy new year here on the east coast!
-
... to make the page flip ...
-
... to please our host over there rockin' asleep in his rockin' NY eve chair ...
-
DR Cillaliz, unless things have changed, congratulations on having minimal plumbing issues and I'm glad they don't have to tear up the tile. Also, thanks for the Xmas card!
-
Hi, Missy K!
-
I was very impressed that Billy Joe Royal is still in fine voice and has a terrific band. I guess I did have a rockin' New Year's Eve, after all...
-
.... this page 18 is for you, bk .... The Page 18 Rockin' Rag

HAPPY NEW YEAR, DR TOMOVOZ!!!!
This is what my little French boy was looking at at midnight. He is visiting a friend who has a balcony overlooking the harbor. In the daytime, kookaburras perch on the railing...so cute!
-
We had a nice little gathering of two other families over here this evening, so I have been E&T.
SCROOGE is one of my favorite films--I still remember my eldest sister taking me to see it in a snowy downtown Seattle that winter of 1970. I have the official souvenir program to this day, and, I believe, the big LOOK Magazine article that ran on it that December. It broke RCMH records, IIRC, despite the lukewarm reviews.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
-
*who just follows along behind DR SingSong throwing even more confetti and popping the balloons*

;D

Where's the diet coke?
In bk's hand -- sloshing out on the floor each time he slowly rocks back and forth as he dozes in his rockin' eve chair .....

The DH shall welcome in 2009 by re-grouting the tile in my bathroom shower.

HAPPYYYYYY NEW YEAR!!!!!
-
Just how many times DO the balls drop?
-
Just finished watching RIGHTEOUS KILL with DeNiro and Pacino.
I think that the reviews were too hard on this picture.
Certainly it's no classic, but it's definitely not a dog.
I guess that when these two actors get together, people expect another GODFATHER. Or, at the very least, another HEAT.
The movie is definitely not in the same league as either of those pictures, but it holds your interest and it's better than a lot of the junk I've seen in the last few months.
-
My clock shows midnight but the HHW clock is off ....
-
DR Miss Karen, just how much champagne have you been drinking?
I think you missed a few numbers. ;)
-
What's a few seconds/minutes among friends -- whatever, it's 2009 here in AZ!!!
-
Why don't they ever make Chanukah movies?
Not after Yentl!

-
I hear the fireworks outside!!
-
Just finished watching RIGHTEOUS KILL with DeNiro and Pacino.
Do they eat Righteous Red potato salad?
-
Tonight, I had dinner at Budd Bay Café with the family. I started off with mozzarella sticks and some kind of flavored marinara sauce (I don't remember what else was in it) that was very good. I also had diet Coke (I think it was Coke) to drink. :)
-
My clock shows midnight but the HHW clock is off ....
Well, it IS hard to read properly when you're horizontal...
-
- along with about 15 other people who were standing around me on the sidewalk.
And what were you doing to attract such a crowd?
der Brucer
Didn't you read his post? He was getting blown down the street.
-
Vibes to DD Bosco!!!
-
I then had a Caesar salad with sourdough rolls. For the main course, I had Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. This is about half-eaten (and what I brought home)...there was a lot:
It may not look good, but it sure tasted good. :D
-
Please pardon my yawning...
-
And for dessert (no one else had dessert, just bites of mine), I had the mile high chocolate cake. Here it is, partially eaten:
It was all very good. Afterwards, we went to my sister's house for a while and now, I'm safe and sound at home. ;D
-
It's not the company!
-
The DH shall welcome in 2009 by re-grouting the tile in my bathroom shower.
And that is not a euphemism!!
My brother, a carpenter, told me that he gets a catalogue that specializes in clothes for construction workers. One item is a shirt with an extra long shirttail, called a "crack spackle" shirt!
-
I think it has stopped snowing.
But it is still VERY cold!
-
Just how many times DO the balls drop?
Here in Atlanta, it's a giant peach!
-
TWO FOR THE ROAD was better than I remembered it......
And Mr Finney certainly looked dapper in and out of his Hardy Amies wardrobe. Ms Hepburn was as always lovely.....somehow she manages to look contemporary even in the most dated clothes.
-
DR Edisaurus, that sounds like Duluth Trading Company. A great company with a great line of products! :)
-
I think now I will watch Mario Lanza and Joan Fontaine in SERENADE to welcome in the New Year on the West Coast!!
-
My clock shows midnight but the HHW clock is off ....
Well, it IS hard to read properly when you're horizontal...
Why, I oughta .... wish you a HAP-PYYY New Year!

What a great partay we're having. I watched about half of Cluny Brown, Ernst Lubitsch's final film - it's a complete delight - charming, and laugh out loud funny and Boyer is something of a revelation - brilliant comic delivery and timing.
-
Where's the diet coke?
Didn't you know?? It's BYODC. ;)
-
DR JOSE it's supposed to be near zero degrees in NYC tonight.....
It actually did not feel that cold tonight, at least not to me. Yes, the occasional gusts of wind did add to the chill, but, otherwise, it was bearable. -But, then again, I have a good jacket, a knit hat, 180s earmuffs, gloves and a scarf. :)

I then did my annual New Year's Rockin' Eve contemplation - it's a long-standing tradition even though I am not standing when I do it. I do it in the bedroom, in complete darkness, just me, my thoughts, and my hopes and wishes for the New Year along with the many things I'd like to make better, in terms of me as a human being. And now, we are counting down till our second ball drops.
-
We haven't seen twenty pages in quite some time. I'm likin' it.
-
I think we need some revelry around here. Perhaps a recitation of The Randy Vicar and the Dropping Balls.
-
Can we achieve page twenty-one? If we do - blackjack.
-
We're definitely going to reach 600 postings this evening.
-
And I'm jiggy with that.
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
PAGE 21 NEW YEAR'S EVE DANCE!!
-
The DH shall welcome in 2009 by re-grouting the tile in my bathroom shower.
And that is not a euphemism!!
You have His and His bathroom showers?
-
Just how many times DO the balls drop?
Well...
-
According to the haineshisway.com clock, twelve minutes to 2009 West Coast-style.
-
Will we never get to page twenty-two?
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's 2009!!!
*At least here on the East Coast. -And I'm currently watching the rebroadcast of CNN's Times Square coverage with Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper.
-
So...
I SOOOOO glad I decided to go out tonight. I truly had a wonderful time surrounded by some wonderful people. -And the food and drinks weren't bad either.
In short... I started by having dinner with my roommate, Jim, and some of his friends. We actually showed up at Arriba! Arriba! and were seated right away. The margaritas were big(!) and tasty, and the various entrees were muy delicioso too. -Of course, after all of those margaritas, settling the bill took a bit longer than expected - and that was even with all six of us on our iPhones computing and recomputing what each of us owed. *It too "so" long that a gentleman who was waiting for our table came up to us and volunteered to buy us another round of drinks - at the bar - and to cover the balance of our tab. ;) In any case... We had a great time.
-
It's almost time.
-
Time it's almost.
-
About eight minutes...
-
I've got the TV on, just in case our time is a little off.
-
Six minutes to 2009.
-
Then we all walked over a block and down a couple more to somebody's apartment. Someone in our group knew someone, so we just all headed over there. -Heck, it was New Year's Eve.
It was a typical Hell's Kitchen apartment, and by the time we got there, there were about 20 people crammed into a place that was only meant to hold about 10, so... However, someone had just recently come from working Australia - on the Australian production of Wicked - and had brought a large tin of Tim Tams!! Happy New Year!
Around 10:30, I then headed onto another party...
-
It really is a New Year's Rockin' Eve.
-
The balls are ready.
-
I have the Diet Coke at the ready. I only had one at dinner, so I'll have one sip of this one. I've had two bottles of water.
-
Five minutes to dropping balls.
-
Four minutes.
-
Three minutes.
-
Just about two minutes...according to www.time.gov :)
-
Two minutes.
-
One minute.
-
Thirty seconds.
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR - AND HERE'S TO A GREAT 2009!!!
-
My clock says Happy New Year west coast HHW'ers!
-
Hurray!
-
And now to sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL FROM THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!!! ;D
-
My second and final party of the evening was hosted by a fellow keyboard player and his partner. The apartment was amazing! 21st Floor. Floor to ceiling windows. Views of midtown - including the Empire State Building - and the Hudson River. Lots of food. Lots of drink. And lots of great people! I even met my "fiancée" from Twitter. :) -A long story, that I'm not even sure how to explain.
In any case... We all watched Dick Clark and company ring in the New Year on TV - boy, is High-Def programming not kind to Dick Clark's current state of health (if you get my drift). That was followed by a volley of phone calls and texts to and from a bunch of people. Then after some singing and playing - I was only an "audience" member - I headed out with some of my new friends. -We grabbed a cab to take us the four blocks up to Columbus Circle so that we could grab our respective trains home.
*Oh, and, bk - I happened to run into a major fan of your work as a producer, and we may have another DR coming aboard HHW sooner or later. ;)
-
2009 is flying by, like a gazelle in a trench coat.
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE LEFT COASTERS!!!
-

Tomorrow (1) is my wife Sandy's birthday.
I'm told that, for the first few years of her life, she thought that all the fireworks were for her.
::)
Now that it's after midnight...A Very Happy Birthday to DR Druxy's DW Sandy!! ;D
-
Even he texted some New Year's greetings...

And after that mini-pictorial, I believe I am going to head to bed to try to get some sleep. -I'm still a bit wired.
Once again, many Thanks to Everyone here on HHW! And Happy New Year!
