DR RonP re: next week's LOST preview.

Okay then that is the preview I saw as well.  It looks like it will basically be a full hour episode recapping what has transpired with all those at the other end of the plane.  So I guess we will see exactly what has happened to them all these weeks.

I think this is a good idea since a bunch of them are now going to be on the show.  And it will help us get more connected to them, so the week after we can see the aftermath of the death.

(I'm catching up -- and responding to this right after reading it.  If someone else has already said what I'm about to say, forgive me)

The previews included an announcement that next week's episode would be an "extended" one -- I think 90 minutes.

DR Jane, I'm sorry if I spoiled anything for you, but it wasn't intentional. I always try to be as vague as I can while still mentioning feelings and impressions.

I watched last night's INVASION this afternoon. A tense episode, and I enjoyed it, but I have a question. After she got free from the car, why didn't Larkin get the walk-talkie that was in her van and call her husband? Was there an explanation that I missed?

Excellent vibes and xylophones to the vixdad.

And tell the vixter that I'VE never gotten an e-mail from her!

Back from shipping and doing, not necessarily in that order.

I've been patiently awaiting the arrival of those ashtrays I got on eBay, including the one from my father's restaurant.  I wrote the seller yesterday, and he tells me the damn package was shipped on November 1st!  From California!  It's insured and all, but if these stupid, ignorant, incompetent mofos from the USPS have lost this package I am going to be MIGHTY upset, that much I can tell you.  The seller wouldn't be lying, as he has 100% positive feedback for thousands of transactions.

Did anyone catch this morning's "Secret Scene" from LOST on GOOD MORNING AMERICA?  If not, I Tivo'ed it and I'll give a report after I watch it this evening.

Back to HOUSE just a minute, DR Jane. Didn't you find out BEFORE you got to the end that the patient couldn't live no matter what they did? And I don't think he actually died during the program as broadcast, did he? He only had a short time to live, right? Or have I already forgotten specifics of the show after two days?

I just read on the VARIETY website that ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL have both been pulled from Fox's schedule for the remainder of the November sweeps.

ARRESTED's episode order has been cut from 22 episodes to just 13 and KITCHEN's producers have been told the show will not be picked up for the full season. They may be back to air their remaining episodes starting in December, but that hasn't been determined yet.

Looks like the handwriting is on the wall for both shows.

Actually, I've spent a good deal of the day at work catching up on the posts.  Very frustrating, wanting to respond to week-old posts, but wanting to finish reading everything first.

But at least I have a few minutes before I leave, and I feel so GUILTY for being E&T and also T&E--and I'm neither Jewish nor Catholic.

SPOILER ALERT -- re: "Lost"

After having read a few items on the internet about last night's show, why are we presuming that Shannon is dead but that Sawyer isn't?

I know it seems certain it's Shannon...but does anyone have just the teensiest bit of doubt?

Frankly, I agree with DR Jennifer about last night's back story.  Shannon became a very appealing and warm character for me after seeing what she'd been through.  It seems MEAN to have offed her after revealing her to us in such detail.

TOD:

I was never much of a jewelry person, except in my plastic-hippie sixties youth.  I did buy my high-school class ring, and then my fingers grew fatter, and a few years later I had to have a jewler cut it off.  The ring, not the finger.

My Joe is a Gold person, being Italian, and has quite a collection of necklaces, bracelets, and rings, which he wears mainly on special occasions.

We both have gold rings on our well-dressed left hands.  (Oh, a Destry reference!)

And I have one simple gold chain that he gave me several years ago, which I wear constantly.

Neither of us is a cologne person.  I must agree with those who say that Americans simply do not know how to wear purfume.  The idea of "a hint" seems foreign to most.  Our doctor's office actually has a sign posted asking people not to wear purfume when they visit because of the offense and actually physical distress it can cause some patients in the waiting room.

On occasion, I would like to say to some of the worst offenders, "Okay, I've smelled it.  Now can you turn it off, please?"

This afternoon is creeping slowly along.  I cannot believe it is NOT YET 2 o'clock.

And worst of all, the U.S. mail, normally here at noon, has not yet arrived.

I'm plu-perplexed!

I have always believed that the first two words meant that a woman had somewhat large, lovely breasts.

I have always believed that nubile meant a comely young lass with a good figure.  Let's have some more thoughts on it.

Based on my past language studies, I'll give this one a go:

Zaftig: Juicy, plump
Buxom: She of the full bosom
Nubile: Weddable; a beautiful girl

Macho: Overtly masculine
Butch: One who appears to be extremely masculine
Studly: Masculine and attractive; One with whom another would want to mate.

Just read the VARIETY review of HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE. Very enthusiastic if just a bit bummed that much of the book had to be jettisoned for the screen version.

And the end credits run 13 minutes.
