Well, you've read the notes, the notes boggled, and now it is time for you to post until the boggled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SWIVET!
-
Had to change the title of the notes after posting them, as I'd already used the title - when and how I have no idea - in fact it boggled my mind that I'd used My Lids Are Heavy before.
-
we forgive you
-
All is forgiven....
Vibes and xylophones to give you smooth sailing!

Happy Birthday SWW!!
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with family and freinds!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR S WOODY
-
Today I have been listening to some songs by Gilbert Becaud.
DVD - still the Uk/Belgium TV series "Secret Army
DR Jeanne (and Elmore) - we thoroughly enjoyed "The Dutchess of Duke Street" (and yes, more so than "Upstairs Downstairs")
Way back in 1975 I saw two of the Juniors from Downstairs in a Christmas Pantomime in London. Chistopher Beeney (Edward) and ?
-
Goodnight DRs Jason and George.
-
And the word of the day is: SWIVET!
When Elise brought the steaming tuna casserole to the table, she was talking so much that she missed the trivet completely and put the scorching pot directly on the table, giving her entire family a SWIVET as the smell of burning wood reached their noses!
-
Happy Birthday SWW!!
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with family and freinds!
Thank-you, DakotaCelt. My best hopes for your family and friends, and to you as well!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR S WOODY
THANK-YOU, DR TOMOVOZ

As for DVDs, der B and I laid our hands on a nifty box set of Shakespeare films: the Branaugh Hamlet, the Olivier Othello, the Reinhart Midsummer Night's Dream, and the Cukor Romeo and Juliet.
The list of performers in these films is longish, and they all have names, many of which are recognizable. Apparently, you cannot be a nobody if you want to get cast in a Shakespeare film, at least if you want a speaking part.
-
And now I must get ready for work. Tra and la.
Der Brucer is asleep on the couch. So are Fletcher and Mikey. Bonnie and Buster are on the window ledge behind the couch. It's very crowded.
Nope, Buster just left the ledge and gingerly climbed over der B to get to the floor. More room.

From Adrianna Patti last night:
Not to say anything about your show in particular, but what you say is true...Look at
"The Perfect Crime" across the street from TKTS...It was HORRRIBLE, yet sells out everyday to the tourists and has been running for years.
Adrianna, you saw that piece of s**t play??? I'm so sorry for you. As I've said before, Perfect Crime has to be one of the absolute worst things I have ever seen in my entire life. I began seeing theatre as a young un' (around 11 or 12 years old) and I'm now 54 and I think Perfect Crime ranks as one of the top five worst things ever and the fact that it's been running for over 24 years is AMAZING!!!
Oh, and one more thing, the show is now at 50th Street and Broadway in the "new" Snapple Theatre Center. The building which housed the theatre on Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets is being dismantled and yet another multi-story office building will line the streets of midtown Manhattan. That building also housed the old HoJo's and the remnants of the old entrance to the Globe Theatre which is now called the Lunt-Fontanne. The name was changed and the entrance moved to 46th Street in 1958 and the theatre re-opened with Lunt and Fontanne doing Friedrich Dürrenmatt's The Visit.
And that, good audience, is your theatre history lesson for today.

I need vibes. I woke up, and looked at last night's posts only to realize I've offered to be Miss Karen's attorney in her Case case against me.
Not only that, but I realize that not only am I old enough to be Case's father, but I'm old enough to be Jason's father as well. Vibes, please!!!

Good morning, all! I have my usual trek to Toyland this morning, another inventory of things to be looked up and photocopied at the Library of Congress, perhaps an office supplies order for the new office, and perhaps another trip to the NYPL. I will be ecstatic once the office has a computer so we can finish the Appendix numbers in Volume One of the Toyland edition and seriously delve into Volume Two.
Has the season change begun: the air seems different, and I've been thinking about the verse to Arthur Schwartz's song "Goodbye to All That": Don't look now, but summer's over.

Did anyone hear this recipe for Wacky Cake on NPR's All Things Considered the other day? "Wacky" because one of the ingredients is white vinegar...
Mary Carole Battle's Mother's Wacky Cake
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon white vinegar
6 tablespoons cooking or salad oil
1 cup cold water
In an 8-inch- or 9-inch-square cake pan, sift the dry ingredients. Make three holes; pour the vanilla in the first, vinegar in the second, and oil in the third.
Pour the cold water over the mixture, and stir until no longer lumpy. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. If desired, top with seven-minute frosting (below).
Seven-Minute Frosting
2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix all ingredients except the vanilla extract in top of a double-boiler; beat about 1 minute to mix together. Place over bottom half of double-boiler; once water has started boiling, beat on high for 7 minutes. Soft peaks should form easily; remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat another minute or two.

Next thing you know, DR FJL will be telling us it was actually Merv Griffin...

DR Jason -- you are a friggin' mensch.

So, when do we hit the talk-show circuit?
Should we do Jerry Springer first or hit Maury and do the DNA tests?

(inner thoughts) Just listening to the Brain CD. That Cason is really really talented, and sure to make loads of dough that could support anyone claiming to be his immediate family in their old age.
Uh, Miss Karen, I mean Karen dear, darling, snooky - did you say something about airfare and sublets?

I guess we could appear on the Maury Yeston show. maybe some cross-promotion for Starfighter and Brain.

Good morning!
There's a cloud cover this morning but no rain in the forecast, so I don't know what that's about. Still, another 100+ temperature day forecast for us.

bk, BANACEK was never a part of the Sunday Mystery Movie series with COLUMBO. MCCLOUD (as you said), MACMILLAN AND WIFE, and HEC RAMSEY were the other components.
BANACEK anchored its own group of Mystery Movies on Wednesday (and then switching to Tuesday). NBC tried lots of shows to pair with it, but other than BANACEK, none ever reallty caught on. Among those attempts were MADIGAN, COOL MILLION, THE SNOOP SISTERS, TENAFLY, and FARADAY & CO.

Just looked at the original complaint from Miss Karen's now-disbarred original attorney. All she was asking for then was some uneaten chocolate and some undead flowers, which she claimed I ode her under promissory estoppel.
I ode her? That stupid attorney couldn't even spell!
But I could have settled. Live and learn. Never be the opposing side's attorney!

Perhaps DR CILLA LIZ could intercede....

Did I read yesterday that DR JOSE was going to be spending some time in "London"?

And one for Moolah

So, I've definitely got the BRAIN on the brain...
I had a dream last night that we were having the first read-through and rehearsal for the show. For some reason, I was getting there late - and I walked in and they handed me the script and we were just working on a scene that I wasn't in anyway - but then we launched into "The Plan" and it was a complete new song and they didn't hand me the music or even the lyrics. We had this short, dark haired guy who was supposedly a "producer" and was running everything.
It was odd -- but there definitely was a sense of fun in the room.
Man, I can't wait until next week...
-
I'm going to have to head downstairs in just a bit to clean up so I go tend to my Friday errands. I hate getting out in the heat and humidity, but if I don't, I'll have nothing to eat for lunch. The grocery store is my primary stop today.

Morning all...
Posting from work, where I am actually at my desk, in my office, instead of in auditions! What a luxury... it's nice to be here and be able to take care of some business that I've been putting off for a long time because I just haven't been here long enough to get into anything. So of course I'm taking advantage of this by posting on HHW!!!
Had a fun couple of days with DR Jose on the keys, accompanying some Angry Housewives. My next round is not until September 6 -- another dance call for Movin' Out. The Rockettes are ruining my life and taking away lots of my dancers. I lost three in my 42nd Street cast and two in Movin' Out within a two-week period. Sucky ball change.
I sent BK some suggestions last night -- hopefully some of those will help him out. Crossing my fingers and sending good vibes to BK for casting!!!
Vibes to all who need them... sounds like almost everyone needs a healthy dose of good vibes and xylophones, so here you are:

DR TOMOVOZ:
Thanks for the feedback on DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET. I identify with the character of Louisa Trotter so strongly that it's difficult for me to gauze how the series would come across to others. I found both series 1 and 2 quite compelling. I love how the characters change as the country goes to war and must live with the consequences of war. In fact, I think I love everything about this series! Glad to hear you and Colin enjoyed it, too.
-
So, when do we hit the talk-show circuit?
Should we do Jerry Springer first or hit Maury and do the DNA tests?
You must first do "Oprah".

Congrats on your extension Cason...may it prove popular with the audience!

Vibes of "no pain" for TCB!!
-
BK mentioned in the notes that in the "old days" things were quite different and actors were more professional in their attendance. I concur. I started acting not long after Bruce did and this sort of behavior was SIMPLY UNHEARD OF. We were young, oh yes, but we were thrilled to have those roles and did our very best. I recall more than once walking to the theatre (yes, I WALKED) after a bad day and feeling so pleased to have a performance to look forward to.
OK, I'll quit now. Otherwise, I'll need some of the anti-aging vibes I just sent to FJL.

I suspect The Jason and Cason Show would be quite a hit...but what happens when one of the cast members decides the name should change to The Cason and Jason show???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOODY!
SPEAKING OF HAIRCUTS - I'm reminded of Jack Valenti, the President of the Motion Picture Association of America, who recently passed away. His barber cut his hair with a cigarette lighter. No kidding! He would singe Jack's hair short by passing the lit lighter over the ends of the hair. Rather than making the hair dry and coarse, this method actually made the hair soft--or so said Jack who had been going to the same barber for over 30 years.
-
Well, there's always the reunion show to think about...plus we can hike up merchandise prices when we finally get back on stage together.
At least a $5 price mark-up on all t-shirts, with a potential 2% mark-up on double-disc cast recordings.
And, to avoid conflict with whose name precedes the other on the marquee, I propose we have a spinning marquee...one side reads "The Jason and Cason Show," the other reads "The Cason and Jason Show." Equal billing all around.
Of course, that would require all merchandising to be either double printed or to alternate "Jason/Cason" and "Cason/Jason." Due to royalty costs, however, I'm afraid we may not be able to use either of our likenesses on novelty items such as mugs, keychains, magnets, mousepads, tote bags, umbrellas, buttons, dog tags or aprons, but our likenesses can and will be used on all display items, including but not limited to windowcards, billboards, souvenir programs (front cover: Jason/Cason, back cover: Cason/Jason, or vice-versa, per the agreement reached by our legal representatives) and all advertising.
Our people will be in touch.
-
I'm up, I'm up. No news yet, so no news is good news. One Joy suggestion was an actress I hadn't thought of, that I'd seen in a show several years ago - she was brilliant - not exactly what I had in mind for Joyce but could do it. She's doing a NYMF show - cast by my guy - but I can't blame him since I just thought of her, and he wouldn't have because she's so different than the others we've been discussing.
And so - we wait.
-
At some point today, I've got to prepare two boxes o' props.

So what do you guys think about what happened on BIG BROTHER last night?
I"m sort of disgusted. i do like jessica and eric. And this will probably keep him in the game longer. But gosh i dislike daniele and dick.
I'm also sort of annoyed how much the producers are interfering. Eric/jessica had decided to keep dustin. but then eric went into the DR and when he came out he practically forced jess to vote out her friend. They really wanted to keep dick!(the producers).
I really can't get behind him after watching his sexual threats to dustin (and before to jen). It's appalling that the producers are editing him like a hero and that america loves him. If they only knew...
-
BIG BROTHER LIVE FEED SPOILERS
*
*
*
*
Oh and to add to why i dislike daniele, she is deciding to backdoor jen (who she made a promise to to have her back).
And dick and daniele say they are not liars? I hope they keep their word to eric and jessica. Although apparently last night daniele said that if Zach won HOH she would try to have him evict eric. Way to keep your word!

Amanda is way ahead of the pack!

It was a weird morning here at the library and now lunchtime is over. Back out there for another several hours of weirdness.
-
Perfect Crime ranks as one of the top five worst things ever and the fact that it's been running for over 24 years is AMAZING!!!
And I think it's also amazing that I've never even heard of it!
I mean, every time I go to London, I hear about THE MOUSETRAP.
-
DR François: THANK YOU for that wonderful CB clip! I had not seen that... John Schneider sounds good!
The good ol' boy, John Schnieder? He's from Atlanta!
-
I could probably get RuPaul to admit he's a father.
RuPaul! I used to go see him in the clubs. A nice Atlanta boy....er....
-
Every time I hear the name "John Schneider" I immediately think of "Tennessee loblolly pine".
Can anyone guess why?
-
Young Frankenstein clips (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44Zl89UktgU) are already spouting on YouTube!
Interesting. I also wonder how many audio recordings have been/will be made?? ::)
;)
-
From Adrianna Patti last night:
WOW!

Weird morning in the library?
Were there wackos in the stackos?
Did the Dewey Decimal System attempt to eradicate all mentions of Truman?
Was there hanky panky in the restricted access room?
Inquiring minds want to know.
-
(or he or DR Jason can take a camera to Amy's).
Nooooo! My house is a disaster area!
-
Interesting. I also wonder how many audio recordings have been/will be made?? ::)
;)
Keep your eyes open....I'm sure quite a few digital recorders were secreted in jacket/shirt pockets on opening night (and beyond).
I'm still trying to find someone with a copy of one of the pre-Broadway San Francisco performances of "Wicked".

When shooting Willy Wonka in Germany, the german maids would do this to the little girl's hair, and as you watch the scenes you can see it change lengths. Varuka (Julie Dawn Cole) talks about it on the commentary.
-
So what do you guys think about what happened on BIG BROTHER last night?
I"m sort of disgusted. i do like jessica and eric. And this will probably keep him in the game longer. But gosh i dislike daniele and dick.
I'm also sort of annoyed how much the producers are interfering. Eric/jessica had decided to keep dustin. but then eric went into the DR and when he came out he practically forced jess to vote out her friend. They really wanted to keep dick!(the producers).
I really can't get behind him after watching his sexual threats to dustin (and before to jen). It's appalling that the producers are editing him like a hero and that america loves him. If they only knew...
I think Eric and Jessica just handed the final two over to Dick and Daniele.
As for Eric, he HAD to do what he did. His missions, as America's Player, were (1) to get Dustin nominated and (2) to get Dustin evicted.
It's a shame they had to lie about Dustin in order to pull it off. I hope Eric and Jessica and Zach get what's coming to them very soon.

Since I was E&T yesterday, I would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!
I will have a little birthday offering for you when I (hopefully) see you in NY!
-
From yesterday---Der B mentioned sylabub..my mom makes this at Christmas. I can't remember what all is in it but it is mighty tasty.
-
And a very Happy Birthday today to SWW! I'm looking forward to seeing you and Der B in NY!
-
Congrats to Cason and his big extension!
-
DR jasob, I'm sorry you won't be doing the DROWSY tour. It would have been nice to show you around Atlanta!
-
I am appalled to know about this whole cat thyroid thing. If cats are affected by dust, mine are goners!
-
Shoulder and sleeping on the correct side vibes to TCB!
-
I suspect The Jason and Cason Show would be quite a hit...but what happens when one of the cast members decides the name should change to The Cason and Jason show???
Mikey, I walked past another place for you to visit: Papayadog.
-
I am so sorry to have missed the chat the other night. I didn't read far enough into the posts to know that was going on. I hope you will do it again!

Favorite Jerry Lewis movie: THE DELICATE DELINQUENT (also my first exposure to the theremin!)

I don't think Stedman would be too happy with us...
Well, he might ask you out.

Dakota, nice to see you back. I was wondering how your father is!
Here's something to cheer you up, speaking of cats and printers!

DR Ron - this is funny because it's so close to public library reality. Well, all except the Dewey part...
Today:
The carpet repair crew was here when we opened, requiring that our normal traffic patterns be rerouted. Of course, no one was prepared for it (maintenance, administration), so we front-line folks had to improvise signage and such.
A nearby school was having an Amazing Race type event and trios of teenagers were running in asking, "Where's the clue?" Of course, we had NO clue and our PR idiot told us to ask them what school they're from. I said, "First we'll have to catch them."
The local newspaper and 2 TV stations had the story of one of the bottom-feeders who spends lots of time here arrested last night for a rape just 2 blocks away.
-
DR IChing---I'm so sorry to hear about your co-worker's daughter. This has happened to children of several friends of mine and there's really no magic words to take the pain away. Knowing that someone cares means a tremendous amount, no matter what you say.
I struggled to find those words, too, when my friend's mom dispapeared and was finally found. A lot of co-workers didn't know what to say and therefore said nothing. So he really appreciated me keeping in contact and expressing my condolences.
I know you will think of the perfect thing to say, just as you do here at HHW.
-
DR FJL and Miss K, you have kept me in stitches the entire day as I catch up on posts. The song lyrics are hilarious! Maybe you should take this show on the road! (Uh oh...but we know what happens on "the road"!)
-
Good Afternoon!
I'm just checking in while I have a few minutes to myself... -Meaning I'll have to catch up on the posts later. In the meantime... More About ME!

Thanks for the link, DR SINGDAW. Was that the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.....
Miss Frances Farmer worked as an usherette there during her college years, one of THREE jobs she held down while attending school.
Why, yes it was!
-
This morning went very well. There was a surprisingly low turn out today. When I got there, there were only 54 men signed up to audition. And only about 14 non-Equity men signed up! (Trust me, that really was surprising.) In any case, when all was said and done, we were done around 12:30.
It was great being in the room with Brad Haak again. We first worked together a few years on Children of Eden at Ford's Theatre - which I believe our Delaware contingent saw - and he also got me on board for Lestat, and we've worked on some smaller projects here and there too. He was happy to see me, I was happy to see him, etc., etc., etc. And we saw some pretty good people today too.
Alas, the pianist who was originally schedule for the whole day did call to say that he could still play the afternoon session, so... I have the afternoon off before I play ACL tonight. And I'll be meeting DR Jason in a bit to catch a movie. :)
-
OH!
And I guess those Vibes worked... I will be spending the month of September as a musical assistant for the current production of Mary Poppins. I will be the "in-room" musical director/pianist for the rehearsals for the new "batch" of Banks children. :) -Which will also allow me to start learning the one of the Keyboard books - a.k.a. "The Concerto" - so that I can start subbing in over at the New Amsterdam too. HOO and RAY!
-
BK, perhaps Scott Bakula or John Schneider would make good Fred choices....they were certainly good in that video that Francois posted yesterday! (I had no idea that Bakula could sing!)
He's a wonderful singer! He was in the musical Romance/Romance (http://www.amazon.com/Romance/dp/B00006JND8/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3712075-1692941?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1187371153&sr=1-1) on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award®! And he got to sing on an episode of "Quantum Leap" with guest star Michele Pawk!

DR George, I really enjoyed hearing about Young Frank and am glad to have seen the pictures. I can't wait to see the actual show one day!
Thanks! I think you'll really enjoy it. :D

OK - Time to meet up with the ever-svelte-ing DR Jason.
Laters...
-
Media check:
In my CD player on my computer here at work: "Wall-To-Wall Stephen Sondheim" ... I'm up to hour 11, track 4: "Franklin Shepherd, Inc.," performed by Lonnie Price, the original Charlie Kringas.
My DVR is set to record "High School Musical 2" for my friend Margo (we're going to a Seattle Storm basketball game tonight), "Psych" and something else at 10:00 pm.
That's all there is right now. :)
-
DR Jose - that news is just S-U-P-E-R-C-A-L-I-F-R-A....
Well, you get the idea!
-
It is interesting that it sometimes takes over a week for an actor to come back and say there are insurmountable scheduling problems, but they don't feel or partuclarly care about the urgency for the show to go on to the next person. They are at times making a decision of whether it's worth turning down sometimes well-paying jobs to do a show for just a small stipend.
-
Great news, DR JoseSPiano!!! CONGRATULATIONS.
-
DR JOSE....should I be haunting my mailbox?
-
Cngratulations, DR Jose! Things always seem to line up perfectly for you, job-wise.
(And if they don't, well, there's always The Reservoir.)
-
TOD: Nothing in any player. Everything is packed up in boxes.

OK, off to create more dust and thyroid problems for my cats.
(I still have a cat bile issue---the new food did not do the trick.)

MySpace should change their name to "The Day The Whores Came Out To Be Friends." I just denied friendship to six or seven young ladies, claiming their home base was China. Here's the picture of one lovely. I didn't bother checking out her page, since it's all the same as the others.

But before I go, mega casting vibes to bk. I can't imagine the amount of stress you must be feeling!

***MOVING/PACKING AND KITTY HEALTH VIBES***[/size]

(inner thoughts) Just listening to the Brain CD. That Cason is really really talented, and sure to make loads of dough that could support anyone claiming to be his immediate family in their old age.
Uh, Miss Karen, I mean Karen dear, darling, snooky - did you say something about airfare and sublets?
And when he procreates, you will have Casettes.

Mikey, I walked past another place for you to visit: Papayadog.
Oh, let's eat there next time I am in town. I wonder what kind of food they serve?
-
From yesterday---Der B mentioned sylabub..my mom makes this at Christmas. I can't remember what all is in it but it is mighty tasty.
SYLLABUB
4 servings
¼ cup white wine or sherry
2 tablespoons brandy
Juice of 1 lemon
Pared rind of lemon (reserve ¼ for garnish)
4 tablespoon sugar
½ Pint of heavy cream
Dash of nutmeg
Mix first four items in bowl, cover, refrigerate over night.
Strain liquid into bowl, add sugar, stir until dissolved
Whip cream until it holds its shape in soft peaks; add nutmeg
Stir the wine mixture slowly into the whipped cream
Spoon gently into small glasses and chill before serving
Blanch the reserved rind gently in boiling water for 15 minutes, drain, cool.
Place a cluster of rind atop each serving
(Can be made a day in advance of serving; chardonnay is a nice wine choice)

Note: One must be possessed of a mixed temperament to prepare this dish, what with whipping then spooning gently

I'd thought of John Schneider, but to approach someone like him with rehearsals only a week away, would, I think, be folly and impossible. Same with Bakula. Had we gone that route three weeks ago as we did with Donny Osmond, there might have at least been interest.

Ron P - I believe Tom Wopat is doing A CATERED AFFAIR, the new musical at the Old Globe in San Diego in September.
-
Wacky Cake is very good. My mom used to make it all the time when I was growing up (and out).
-
I'm sure that if I got an extension in HAIR, it would get even a bigger draw from this site than the last night of the BRAIN...
...just saying...
Well, I guess that would depend on the size of the part!
-
A CATERED AFFAIR, by the way, also stars Lelsie Kritzer, after whom the Kritzer novels (and in turn Kritzerland) were apparently named.
-
Yesterday a lot of posts were made discussing DR CASON's extension.
Yes, but we're still waiting for Heather's side of the story!! :o ::) ;)
What # is her extension, by the way!
-
Rémy joins me in whishing DR SWW a Happy Birthday day!
-
Well, there's always the reunion show to think about...plus we can hike up merchandise prices when we finally get back on stage together.
THE SUNSHINE FOGEYS
-
HAIR extensions, of course.
Dreadlocks? Is he gonna play Tarzan?
-
I'm up, I'm up.
You are correct, BK. Elaine Stritch is an entirely different take for Joyce.
-
If anyone wants to revive Arthur Kopit's one act "The Day The Whores Came Out To Play Tennis," I'm ready to cast! I just denied two more lovelies who don't look at all Asian, but their page tells me they live in China!
-
GEORGE,
It sounds like you and DF Margo have a very nice friendship.
-
Perhaps DR CILLA LIZ could intercede....
No! She went and washed that case out of her hair! Can't blame her! :)
-
CONGRATS to JOSE for his latest new gig.
-
CONGRATS to JRAND for a fine FANTASTICKS performance, even when all around him sucked.
Oooh! You mean he's in a porno version of the show! Shocking! ;)
-
And I think it's also amazing that I've never even heard of it!
I mean, every time I go to London, I hear about THE MOUSETRAP.
Consider yourself very lucky, Edi. I got suckered into seeing THE PERFECT CRIME about ten years go. It was HORRIBLE. But the title fits. They have been robbing theater audiences for years, and getting away with it.
-
That hunky bod is yours, right, Sing? A self-portrait?
Yes, a self-portrait but one can't tell because of the... balloon! ;)
-
You must first do "Oprah".
How do you mean that?! ;)
-
BK, perhaps Scott Bakula or John Schneider would make good Fred choices....they were certainly good in that video that Francois posted yesterday! (I had no idea that Bakula could sing!)
They both have been in musical shows, but I did not know how good a voice Mr Schneider still had, in spite of a country LP of his I got back in the... seventies!
-
Thanks for all your good health wishes, yet again. Beleive me, I feel like a walking hospital ward (and not a mental hospital ward, either).

RE: high school musical 2 that is premiering tonight.
I have my sister taping this for me (since i don't get the Family channel that it is on here).
I'm not sure if this is the case in the US, but here they are showing an hour special of the musical tour before the movie. So i believe the movie is from 8-9:30pm, but at 7pm there is an added hour.

All French coins and bills should be considered as "keepsakes" now since the Banque de France won't take them back anymore! They are obsolete as I am almost obsolete too! But one should see both sides of my "coin" whatever that means!! LOL!

I have now read every word posted that I missed while I was away. Too much to post on directly, but a few highlights:
I apologize to the following DRs for missing their birthdays: td, der Brucer, and the DF of Tomovoz. Congratulations on milestones of DRs SWW, TCB, Julie, and bk. Belated audition vibes to Ant, Jason, and TPunk. Belated MCAT vibes to Bryan. Best wishes and vibes to DR DakotaCelt for her father, and congrats to her DBF on his attaining a Doctorate. Happy anniversary to Ben & Ant. Congratulations to Michael S. on his weight loss. Glad that DD Bosco is OK. And belated opening night vibes to DRs Cason and JRand56 - and congratulations also to Jack on his new role. And thanks to all for their travel vibes last week! :)
Oh, and does anyone have a good mac n' cheese recipe? ;)
-

I'd thought of John Schneider, but to approach someone like him with rehearsals only a week away, would, I think, be folly and impossible. Same with Bakula. Had we gone that route three weeks ago as we did with Donny Osmond, there might have at least been interest.
I have to say that I haven't seen him in awhile, but when I worked with him years ago he was a very nice, kind guy.
-
Well, BK has his casting problems and I have MD problems: I'm stuck dealing with band problems because our MD is in Scotland and can't tell the designer how he'd like the band space laid out, so I have to do it. Since I neither have to play in the band nor keep the ensemble together, I hate having a responsibility that may not make the MD, designer or director happy in the long run.
-
I wish that John Schneider would do an album of standards....he has the voice for it.
If Mr. Bakula were to do an album, I would also buy it.
There used to be this great photo of Scott Bakula back in his modeling days. He is wearing nothing but a pair of briefs. I'll bet M Barnum has that photo.

A swell set up to give you the blame. But you knew that.

No! Mr Dracula, errr Bakula was too young then! ;)

He also sang the male lead on the ANYONE CAN WHISTLE concert recording.

That is one GORGEOUS man!
-
I began my afternoon watching CHARLIE CHAN'S SECRET. I had never seen it before and really enjoyed it, but I was very angry with myself for not guessing the identity of the murderer. I was SO sure I had the right culprit (felt it was so obvious), and I was wrong, wrong, wrong.
-
Next, I put in ANDRE'S MOTHER, the 45 minute AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE production which won Terrance McNally a Writing Emmy. Starred Sada Thompson, Richard Thomas, and Sylvia Sidney: I just wept my way through the last half of the short film. Lovely program.
-
And look who's the August, 2007, cover girl for American Libraries, the magazine of the American Library Association:
-
Next up, I watched today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Oh, brother, colonel father wants his son to enter the military because he suspects he's gay. Once he parades his girl friend for inspection, talk of enlisting is forgotten. Meanwhile, suspected gay son (who's in denial) has his necktie tied by out gay friend and fireworks ensue.
Well worth watching. I think this is the first time I actually seen two guys kiss on a soap. Yes, I've followed gay storylines on ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE several times over the years but this was a first for me.
-
That is one GORGEOUS man!
You got that right, honey! ;D
-
Next, I watched the last 30 minutes of SAVING GRACE that I slept through the other night. OK drama, a little wacko, but OK.
-
He also sang the male lead on the ANYONE CAN WHISTLE concert recording.
I forgot about that. And I first heard of him from the recording of 3 Guys Naked from the Waist Down (http://www.castalbumdb.com/rec.cfm?RNumber=1170) (sadly, no one is actually naked in the show ::)). I still have the vinyl album.
-
Tonight I will be watching an hour of something on DVD (MEDIUM, CLOSER, BONES: I haven't decided yet), and then watching the DVR recording of BURN NOTICE from last night. This should take me into MONK and PSYCH.
-

I have it, too. And I forgot about that one!

That sound you just heard was Barnum's jaw hitting the floor.
I just spoke to the designer. I think the band setup will be easily resolved and I feel much better.

Hi, just a quick hello on Sam's computer. I need a new power adapter for my laptop and no one has a universal adapter that is compatible with my Dell. I ordered one, but that won't help this weekend. :(
-
elmore - I should think that the drums and bass would go stage right of center, and the two keyboards and the reed should be stage left of center. The keyboards definitely have to be on the left because that's the only place where there'll be power. That was basically the layout in LA>
-
Had a nice lunch meeting with Mr. Terry Trotter. Don't know why, but I'm in a better mood today. The jog probably helped and I'm happy to say I went the distance, like Rocky.
I've done errands, taken clothes to dry cleaners, and must now enter some new dialogue for the general's first scene so that the script can be locked.

Has the season change begun: the air seems different, and I've been thinking about the verse to Arthur Schwartz's song "Goodbye to All That": Don't look now, but summer's over.

bk, BANACEK was never a part of the Sunday Mystery Movie series with COLUMBO.
Further complicating things is the interesting detail that McCloud and Night Gallery first appeared as mini-series in a program called, as I recall, Four in One. The concept was that each series would run for six weeks in the timeslot, then be replaced by the next, and then by the third and fourth shows. I'll be danged if I can recall what the other two shows were called, or what they were about, but the concept failed, McCloud was relocated to the-much-easier-for-audiences-to-understand Sunday Mystery Movie, and Night Gallery returned as a weekly series.
It was at about this time that NBC also aired The Name of The Game, with Gene Barry, Tony Franciosa, and Robert Stack rotating in stories about a publishing empire. During the first season, Susan St. James was featured in all three rotations, as a girl friday - a job she left when the McMillan and Wife gig came her way.

There's something about Jason/Cason that sounds a lot like Marat/Sade. :o

I love having reasons for not bothering with the MySpace concept.
And they are?
I think it's great for networking but I must admit the constant barrage of whores working the site is a bit irritating. I suppose some folk get a kick out of it.
-
They are - the whores.
-
elmore, you've got to stop calling me a whore. I have the best of intentions. The girls say hi, especially Bambi.
-
Last night's TV had interviews etc with a group attempting to put a stop the use of pre teens as models and the sexualisation of youngsters as marketing "objects". Of course the advertising agents and magazines are claiming they are just reflecting popular culture and not influencing and creating it!
At least pressure as led to a 15 year old NOT being used as Model of the year or whatever the title is.
The anti group has created a magazine and internet information site using models explaining how photos of their own body images have been altered (scupltured) by the agencies etc and the "real them" often does not have the same "structure".
The "soft porn" of billboards and video music clips is being targeted.
-
elmore, you've got to stop calling me a whore. I have the best of intentions. The girls say hi, especially Bambi.
If you put "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" into "The Brain" score, I'm outa here!

I thought it was Thumper that was the whore! I must have misread the writing on the wall.
-
If you put "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" into "The Brain" score, I'm outa here!

My old friend Taylor Nichols is on MONK tonight! Do I have dish.
-
If MISS KAREN were here I think she'd say, "Dish, dish."
-
Tonight's MONK is quite entertaining. This series sure runs the gamut from inept to very good. I don't know why it isn't more consistent, but the last two episodes I've caught have been vast improvements over earlier ones this season.

Since I was E&T yesterday, I would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!
I will have a little birthday offering for you when I (hopefully) see you in NY!
OOOH!!! As if your mere presence wasn't enough reason to rejoice!
-
Bad news today on the lightening damage report: $1200 in repairs needed.
-
Three Cheers !!
-
Can't you sue God for that?
Nice little Oz film "The Man Who Sued God" (for storm damage). Scottish Comic Billy Connolly.
-
That post was not about suing God for Jose's September Job as a Nanny.
-
Good evening -
Have had an eventful day. The "Bukowsical!" show went well today - there were some very weird energies going on backstage, and in spite of me feeling like basically everyone was phoning it in, it was actually a decent show.
I officially go on Monday at 2pm. We were only extended two shows (they were shooting for 3, but one would have been at midnight on Sunday, followed by a double on Monday...) - just the two on Monday and I'll be in the afternoon slot.
After the show, I raced uptown (no thanks to the 4, the so-called "express" train) to catch dinner with DRs Jason and Jose; then caught A Chorus Line thanks to the lovely Jose. Fantastic show - and it just makes me want to be on Broadway more than ever...
-
Shonghai.
-
We can submit it to the insurance company and they can sue God.
-
I'm glad you are going to be in the show, Cason.
-
So, are you staying there for the week, before BK gets there next week? Do you get to be a tourist?
-
Yeah - I'm staying through...though we finish up Bukowsical on Monday and start Brain rehearsals on Thursday...not a bad thing, but just not much time for "touristing."
-

and what ails DR MathsProf?
I cannot say (becasue I do onot know) but I shall prod and poke and try and get an answer (and also send your regards!)
I think he and Joe will be joining us for the festivities at September's end

Bad news today on the lightening damage report: $1200 in repairs needed.
OUCH!
-
Oh I love what you've done with your hair!
Oh wait... that's NOT you?! The FOOLS!!
Well, DR Ginny needs to become a Dame and write children books! As simple as that! ;)

There ain't nothing like a Dame

Thank you Vixmom.. It's nearly a year since we were in NYC.

My old friend Taylor Nichols is on MONK tonight! Do I have dish.
WEll! I am waiting to hear it!
-
Yeah - I'm staying through...though we finish up Bukowsical on Monday and start Brain rehearsals on Thursday...not a bad thing, but just not much time for "touristing."
Oh sweetheart... you have Jose on your side.... in three days he could show you the world!!

Amazing "friendship" footage!

Yeah - I'm staying through...though we finish up Bukowsical on Monday and start Brain rehearsals on Thursday...not a bad thing, but just not much time for "touristing."
DTG(Dear Tour Guide) Jose can show you a lot of NYC sights in just those few days! Take him up on it if he offers Cason!
-
I think Vixmom and I had the same thought. Spooky isn't it.
-
DTG(Dear Tour Guide) Jose can show you a lot of NYC sights in just those few days! Take him up on it if he offers Cason!
He already graciously took me around this past week. :)
But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...
-
I can't decide whether to watch another dvd (just finished THE YOUNG ONE) or read my book. I think I am too sleepy to watch a movie.
-

well we've both been on the tours! :D
-

But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...
Well, you could do what I did and get down to Battery Park and walk from there all the way up to where DR Elmore lives...you will see a LOT during that days walk!
Oh, and have lunch at the diner across the street from Macey's...it just seems so NY-ish.
-

I love, love, love walking around NYC.
And Jackson Heights.
-

Very true...that Jose knows his stuff.
-
DR Elmore told me where to go once...but I didn't know how to get there.

Do they still have the restaurant in the bottom of Macys... where you have to take the wooden escalator to get down?
-
I can't decide whether to watch another dvd (just finished THE YOUNG ONE)
They made a film about DR François? :o
-
Further complicating things is the interesting detail that McCloud and Night Gallery first appeared as mini-series in a program called, as I recall, Four in One.
That's very easily answered. FOUR IN ONE had these four components:
McCLOUD, THE PSYCHIATRIST (Roy Thinnes), NIGHT GALLERY, and SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL (Lloyd Bridges).
-
DR Elmore told me where to go once...but I didn't know how to get there.
;D
-
DR Elmore told me where to go once...
Probably more than once!
-
Singsong! Will you be attending any of the THREE BEST SHOWS IN NYMF the last weekend of September?
-
They made a film about DR François? :o
NO! "My" movie is "The Hung One"! :o
-
Jason... did the Schuberts clean the carpets and remove the pests?
-
I began my evening by watching last night's BURN NOTICE. These weekly hours are like a mini-OCEANS ELEVEN every week. It's a witty mini-caper kind of show that has terrific pace and such a light sense of humor amid some serious escapades. Really super special show.
-
My! People come and go so quickly here!
-
Next I put on a MEDIUM season 2 episode. This was the one where a song gets trapped in Allison's head that drives her batty, but the story quickly leaves that scenario to become a close cousin to Hitchcock's I CONFESS.
The second season DVDs of MEDIUM are very close to high definition in quality when played on an upconverting player.
-
MONK was entertaining until he and Dr. Kroger's son get trapped in the gravel pit, and then it got a little irritating.
I, too, would love to hear the dish, DR Elmore.
-
PSYCH had a nifty little mystery, but there was more silliness than usual at the wrap-up of the puzzle. I did think Shawn's horoscopes were funny.
-
DR SWW...I change that to may your WORKS increase.....
-
Jason... did the Schuberts clean the carpets and remove the pests?
No! They cleaned the pets and removed the carpets! ;)
-
My! People come and go so quickly here!
Well, it's like Grand Hotel!
-
I have a couple of more pages to learn for the first act of THE SUNSHINE BOYS....so I hope to do that tonight.....or rather right now.
But I am hungry....

DR Cason: If there's somewhere you'd like to go, I'd be happy to show you around if DR Jose is unavailable during the day. It won't be like the good old days, hiking through the thousands of miles of jungle in Shonghai, but it'll have to do...
DR Vixmom: The Shuberts did clean the carpets, but the mold has already started to grow back. And now the carpet is actually shrinking, so they're pulling back from the walls and buckling up in the middle of the floor. A lawsuit waiting to happen, if you ask me. Which you didn't.

BK, is there a breakdown available for THE BRAIN?

DR Jason - how were things on the Avenue today?
Things were a little slow on the Avenue tonight, unfortunately. And, after all that mocking Jose for being so tuckered out...I have to admit that I may have napped a bit during the first act. Shhh!!
I'm very happy that you accepted my MySpace invitation. We're officially friends now, whereas we were just casual acquaintances before. ;)
Glad you enjoyed A Chorus Line!

I won't tell the Schuberts if you get me an "Internet is for Porn" onesie...
How could I NOT accept your Myspace - you made it into my Top Friends even! I mean, after all of the NY bonding moments we've had, I'd be severely remiss.
Ahhh, ACL -- I had only seen it once before (and I must've been no more than 11 or so at that time), so it was amazing to see it on stage - and on Broadway no less. I don't have much to compare it to - but the new Paul is pretty friggin' fantastic.
-
Bad news today on the lightening damage report: $1200 in repairs needed.
At your house?
-
I'm not going to name names, but Cason "Zubrick" Murphy is not answering his cell phone.
-
And someone is trying to reach him.
-
DTG(Dear Tour Guide) Jose can show you a lot of NYC sights in just those few days! Take him up on it if he offers Cason!
I have not had him as a tourguide but from the exploits of other HHWers I would recommend him.
-
I'm finished watching motion pictures for this evening. I've been in a very good mood all day, even though nothing has been resolved actor-wise or costume-wise. I suspect come Monday we'll know the lay of the land and I'm hoping the lay is excellent.
-
Ah! Sorry - I had it in the other room...
-
And worth all the foreplay.
-
I vaguely remember McCloud. Didnt he ride a horse?
-
Call back, you hear - you can call my home number if you like and I think we all know you've got my number.
-
Where's there a diner across from Macy's?
Vixmom, they still have the wooden escalator, but now it takes you to several different eatery establishments, among them the one downstairs. They also have a whole food court in the Junior department, including a Ben & Jerry's. And there's a Starbucks, too... comes in handy after several hours of hardcore shopping.
-
I've heard that they're updating that ON THE TOWN song!
From now on it's:
"Come Up To MySpace!".....
-
I won't tell the Schuberts if you get me an "Internet is for Porn" onesie...

OMG, we're totes BFF! :)
I haven't seen the new Paul. I'm sure I'll hear all about him from the merch staff at the show. My first time seeing it was when this production was in previews, and I thought most of it worked really well. I think the show itself is quite moving, but I wasn't overly impressed with some of the casting choices. I've not seen the cast that's on now, so hopefully things are looking up over there at the Schoenfeld (it'll always be the Plymouth to me).

A kindly thankyou for your all your support, It is greatly appreciated no words could truly show my appreciation....

When my inlaws came over from England the Christmas after we married, we took them for a tour of New York at Christmas time including a trip to Macy's.
We lunched at the basement eatery where my FIL ordered fish and chips , after it arrived he realized in horror that he might have to make do with tomato catsuo.... I called over the waitress and in seconds a bottle of his favorite malt vinegar appeared with which he could liberally slather his "chips"
I think that was the best part of the whole trip for him!! :D
-
It's just not fish n chips without malt vinegar!
-
Joy, did you get the e-mail?
-
and "The Mousetrap" is (IMHO) not particularly good either!
I figured it probably wasn't, since they had to hammer home how many years it's been running. That seemed to be their only selling point!
-
malt vinegar??
-
DR Cason: You are Double-O.C. (Out Of Control)! (In the best possible way, of course...) High-larious, I tell you...
-
Joy, did you get the e-mail?
The breakdown? Yes, I did. Thank you. Keep me posted... I'm sure it will all come together on Monday!
I was actually wondering about what you mentioned in a previous email, about whether your rep was being used to encourage the agents... Certainly a good question and I'm curious.
-
Good Evening!
WHEW! That was lot of posts to catch up on! But I'm not caught up... And now to see what I remember...
-
Shonghai
-
DR Cason: You are Double-O.C. (Out Of Control)! High-larious, I tell you...
What can I say? Today provided us with plenty o' material.
Also, I think I heard a big cacophony on the 2nd keyboard during "What I Did For Love" when Jose finally got his nap in...
(In all seriousness, Jose - and the rest of the orchestra - were pretty phenomenal this evening...God, what I'd give to have them playing for me...)
-
"Lord knows how many thousands of dollars I've spent of my parents' money on college..."
-
malt vinegar??
you put in on your chips (which are more like steak frieds than french fries) and spinkle liberally with salt....
also sprinkle on your fish... salt not needed there!
-
Larry and singdaw - I'm hoping to be at Skip's show tomorrow as well. Since Skip is actually performing in the show, and I know how strong opinions on here can get (see Bukowsical and PB&J), could I respectfully beg that any negative comments be held until after the show closes on August 28?
Frankly, the reviews of the one-act evening have been quite varied. Almost every review picked out a favorite among the evening's variety of one-acts (the musical by Eduardo Machado and Skip is the second piece in the second act, and is the last piece of the performance). And for the most part, when a critic liked one of the pieces above the others, that citic would go on about the piece he or she liked and then just run through the others. The theaterscene.net critic liked Skip's piece AFTERNOON TEA the most of the four; the Times really liked Leslie Lyle's RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES the most, as did backstage; nytheatre.com liked Warren Leight's AMICI, ASCOLTAT (sp?) the best. And so it went.
-
I always wondered something about the ACL orchestrations... in "Music and the Mirror", during the (second?) dance break, what instrument makes the waka-waka sound?
-
Everyone knows that college is supposed to lead you to happiness through your career. That's what I learned at Shonghai U.
-
ahhh, i have not heard of that...
-
DR Ron Pulliam - I remember "Dream House". *And there are still times when I'm walking around The City wondering if the "dream house" is still there. :)
-
...what instrument makes the waka-waka sound?
Fozzie Bear. (Waka-Waka!!)
Which reminds me, I need to start watching the Muppet Show Season 2!!
-
I just had to get into the jungle and get my face soaked with sweat...
-
It was a shame we couldn't slip a sedative into that guy's slice of ...monkeycake...
-
LOL, DR Jane - I'm hoping there's still some Dulce De Leche for me tonight! And I'd love to have you come to my book group sometime!
Dulce de Leche always makes me think of MAN OF LAMANCHA, for some reason...
-
It was a shame we couldn't slip a sedative into that guy's slice of ...monkeycake...
What? I couldn't hear you over his bellowing voice...
-
I always wondered something about the ACL orchestrations... in "Music and the Mirror", during the (second?) dance break, what instrument makes the waka-waka sound?
Originally, it was an electric guitar with a "Wah-Wah" pedal. Now, it's Keyboard 2 equipped with an extra "foot controller" that acts as a Wah-Wah pedal.
*It's the same effect in the last Montage during Richie's section - that descending scale right before he cusses. ;)
-
Dulce de Leche always makes me think of MAN OF LAMANCHA, for some reason...
Dulce de leche reminds me of GUYS & DOLLS. Particularly Peter Gallagher's poor pronunciation of it...
-
Dulce de Leche always makes me think of MAN OF LAMANCHA, for some reason...
...and it always makes ME think of Guys and Dolls!
-
It was a shame we couldn't slip a sedative into that guy's slice of ...monkeycake...
I'm surprised neither of you have mentioned The Monkey Cake yet?!?!?!?!
-Or were just waiting for The Enabler to come on the scene?
-
Jinx, you owe me a beer, DR Jason.
-
Edi I would be interested to hear what you think of the links I posted....
-
By the by, I am SHOCKED (!) that DR Cason has not yet mentioned that he actually had his first slice of the infamous Monkey Cake this very eve. Someone almost left the cake out in the rain, though...
-
Oh, a correction...
DR Joy - In the current orchestration of "Music and the Mirror", the wah-wah was "removed" by Mr. Tunick. Instead, Key 3 - which was me tonight, it now on a sustained "synth pad".
-
I don't think that I can take it.
-

Aw, bummer... I always liked that, it's so 70's porn film-esque.
-
And, yes, I did nap a few times during tonight's show. But I did wake up in time for my entrances.
Well, most of them. ::)
-

Cuz it took so long to bake it.

The cake was fantastic, the company somewhat sedate but wonderful - the "ambiance" was...lacking
-
Alas, I had left my camera at the theatre, so I was not able to take pics of said Monkey Cake. But there's always tomorrow. :)
-
Did you let him walk under your umbrella ella ella?
eh, eh, eh

dang now I'm thinking of Magnolia's Banana Pudding
darn you anyway Enabler!!!!!
-
And, yes, I did nap a few times during tonight's show. But I did wake up in time for my entrances.

Did you lug the Equity "cot" down into the pit?
-
DR elmore - I might be able to go tomorrow afternoon, so... -However, I'm sort of relishing the thought of having a day off - well, at least the "day" off, since I'm back at ACL tomorrow night.
-
The cake was fantastic, the company somewhat sedate but wonderful - the "ambiance" was...lacking
You think our fair city lacks ambience?!! Pshaw! I say to you sir, those are fighting words!!!
-
Did you lug the Equity "cot" down into the pit?
There was no need to. The chair I use in the pit is an office chair. And it reclines.
:)
-

-
Did you lug the Equity "cot" down into the pit?
is that the infamous casting cot?
-
DR Cason - Would you be interested in sitting in the pit tomorrow night at ACL? You be sitting right next to me, and you can still watch the show on the big flat screen monitor we have down there. -Although, lately, the "show" in the pit has been quite entertaining too. ;)
-
is that the infamous casting cot?
No, that's in my office.
-
No, that's in my office.
;D
-
KIDDING, KIDDING.... juuuust kidding.... ha
-
Ooh...Magnolia's Banana Pudding. Damn you, Vixmom!
DR Jose: I think that might need to be our next outing with DR Cason...'cause God knows I can never find the place.
-
Who was talking about piles yesterday?
I'm actually interested in seeing that show. I've read Will Durst's column a couple of times, and it would be neat to see and hear it performed live... By Will Durst.
-
KIDDING, KIDDING.... juuuust kidding.... ha
whatsa matta.. Noel checks your posts?

No, no, it isn't the city! It was a certain guy in Amy's Breads that detracted from the experience.

AHH! All is forgiven. You may stay.

Love it! I always enjoy those---thanks, Vixmom!

Joy, the CD has told me that he has indeed played the ME card, but it's just been a lot of odd circumstances, and everyone we've gone to has really liked the show itself and ninety percent of our offer people have really tried to make their schedules work, but it just hasn't worked out.
-
Well, since Bukowsical is also playing on Bleecker a couple of blocks away...
Yeah -- we'll be done around 5:30ish tomorrow, if you're looking for a reason to visit Magnolia...
AH! The Enabler has passed his gift to me.
-
Oh, TOD... well, the CD/DVD are collecting dust... but we watched a DVR'd TOP CHEF and MAD MEN (which is just becoming tedious), and I am currently listening to my iTunes on Shuffle, which is a fascinating experience.
Has anyone ever done the iTunes Shuffle Interview game? It's delightful.
-
Did anyone hear this recipe for Wacky Cake on NPR's All Things Considered the other day? "Wacky" because one of the ingredients is white vinegar...
Mary Carole Battle's Mother's Wacky Cake
....
Well... There are a couple of cake recipes that count vinegar among their ingredients. Since it's an acid, it aids in the leavening of the cake. My favorite, easy and quite delicious Chocolate Cake recipe uses cider vinegar.
-

unless of course you need someone who can dance......and sing... and act.....

Well, maybe he was lacking Ambien?
-
And wait'll ya see the pictures DR Jose got of me modelling some very stylish hats and sunglasses at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square...
-
I won't tell the Schuberts if you get me an "Internet is for Porn" onesie...
No way! Is there really such a thing? I must have one(sie!)

Seriously... although I do have a "People I Heart" bulletin board, and there are are some cutie patooties on it... so I get to gaze at their faces all day (when I'm actually IN the office)!

Yeah -- we'll be done around 5:30ish tomorrow, if you're looking for a reason to visit Magnolia...
AH! The Enabler has passed his gift to me.
Well, DR Jason does have a matinee, but I could always meet you down there - and, actually, I was thinking of seeing your show tomorrow afternoon anyway (before DR elmore's ticket), so...
Regardless of which show I see tomorrow - if any - we could always bring back some banana pudding for DR Jason. *And, remember, if you are not getting cupcakes at Magnolia, you do not have to wait in line, you can go right in.
-
Yeah -- we'll be done around 5:30ish tomorrow, if you're looking for a reason to visit Magnolia...

I can't do tomorrow - I don't think I could get down there and back in time between shows. But I guess DR Jose might be able to make it...
But there's always Monday...
-

Don't they know who you ARE? sheesh.... ;D ;D
-
Is that anything like Monkeycake?
NO!
-
No way! Is there really such a thing? I must have one(sie!)
No, there isn't. But many unscrupulous people have requested them. I do, however, have "The Internet Is For Porn" mousepads and t-shirts that read, respectively, "It Sucks To Be Me," and "Yeah, They're Real." Oh, and one that says, "More Drinks! More Fun!"

All this talk of baked goodness makes me feel like going to the evil gym tomorrow. I mean, might as well... seeing as how I'm paying $89 million dollars a month to work out once in a blue moon...

I need at least 24 hours' notice before any banana pudding is to be consumed so I can do 3 or 4 hours of yoga to earn some puddin' points.
I'm just sayin'...
-
All this talk of baked goodness makes me feel like going to the evil gym tomorrow. I mean, might as well... seeing as how I'm paying $89 million dollars a month to work out once in a blue moon...
gosh... you should have joined Curves

;D

DR Ron Pulliam - I remember "Dream House". *And there are still times when I'm walking around The City wondering if the "dream house" is still there. :)
Dream House on Church Street? I spent time there with friends from England who knew the composer, Lamote Young. It was still up and running as of last month, still playing the same chord:

As for "The Cason and Jason Show", "The Jason and Cason Show", "Cason/Jason", "Jason/Cason", well...
Would you like some Monkey Cake"?

Edi I would be interested to hear what you think of the links I posted....
Very well done, obviously by someone well versed in the popular trailer tricks. (That sounds sort of dirty....) That is, certain ways of cutting that everyone else then steals. A friend of mine has been a trailer editor for many years and I've seen people copy things he came up with.
I saw the Shining one a few years ago, and the Mary Poppins one last week. (It may have been posted here?) I hadn't seen the Sound of Music one though. I think that's my favorite!

Tried it... I didn't feel like I was doing anything!
-
It's time to play the music...
It's time to light the lights...
It's time for me to go and watch
The Muppet Show tonight!
-
something tells me this ain't it
-
Alrighty...I'm off to bed all!
Sweet dreams!

And Thanks for all the Congrats on my upcoming Mary Poppins gig. I really do owe Brad big time for offering this to me, and working around the one conflict I have during the time - which happens to fall at the end of the first week of rehearsals.
I got my copy of the piano/vocal score today, and, well... There a LOT of notes. And since I'll be playing rehearsals for any of the scenes that the children are in, well, I have a lot of music to practice and learn - including a bunch of dance sequences. It'll be a challenge, but I'm feeling up to it right now. I'll basically be employed for about four or five weeks. The cool thing about the schedule is that they rehearse Wednesday-Sunday, so I'll have at least two days off a week for other work - or just to take off (which I'm sure I'll need). And I'll also start learning one of the keyboard books so that I can start covering for the associate conductor (when she conducts).

yeah but it costs so much less not to go to it ;D

I've been ordered to bed. Good night, all!

I must admit, until I met you I never really thought about or appreciated what an editor does and how importnant she is to the finished product

DR Jane - I'm not going to Alaska. And I had already sort of decided that before this Mary Poppins gig fell in my lap. Timing-wise, it was just too long a slot - two weeks - to be out of town - and not available for work. And paying for the trip would have also put a slight strain on my bank account for September. However, since I seem to be in the midst of a very "profitable" period right now, I'm seriously considering either taking another cruise sometime in October, and/or heading down to Disneyworld for a couple of days. I haven't been to the Magic Kingdom in a couple of years, and since I can now get into the parks for free, well... :) We shall see...

VERY nice!! I knew once they saw you on Broadway they wouldn't let you go!!

A good editor can make a film that sucks not suck as much. My best work always goes unnoticed!

DR DakotaCelt - ~~~~~A BLANKET OF VIBES TO YOU~~~~~

When people ask my mom what I do for a living as an editor, she tells them that I "cut out the bad stuff". Which is sort of true, in a way, still...
It's always nice when someone appreciates the work an editor does!

You know, I was sort of told to take some time off... ;)

I'm still trying to find someone with a copy of one of the pre-Broadway San Francisco performances of "Wicked".
Hmm... Those have been available for years.
-
Well, I stripped all the wax off half the kitchen floor and will re-wax it tomorrow. I feel like MattH. (Except I only do this once a year at the most!)

Oh my we haven't been there in a few years... we have a time share in Kississimme (that is so totally spelled wrong) but we haven't been.....
now I want a piece of monkey cake on my way to Disney

You know, I was sort of told to take some time off... ;)
And since the Epcot Food & Wine Festival happens to happen in October...
*I really want to take a cooking class with Lidia Biastanich and Marcella Hazan.

Must go rest my arms after scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees. Once it's waxed I can start piling boxes of books in there and make room to do more packing.

There used to be this great photo of Scott Bakula back in his modeling days. He is wearing nothing but a pair of briefs. I'll bet M Barnum has that photo.
And we've already discussed the two interviews - and accompanying photographs - he did with Playgirl on this here site.
-
I forgot about that. And I first heard of him from the recording of 3 Guys Naked from the Waist Down (http://www.castalbumdb.com/rec.cfm?RNumber=1170) (sadly, no one is actually naked in the show ::)). I still have the vinyl album.
And I've actually done that show! And had a wonderful time doing it too. -And we had even approached Michael Rupert about writing another segment for the sort of History of Popular Music sequence. We were gonna have each of the guys come out dressed as Michael Jackson at various stages of his career and "coloring". ;)
*And we did have a very brief bit of nudity in our production - but it was handled the same way the nudity was handled in The Full Monty. Although, since the band (myself included) was on stage, I was never blinded by the backlight. Just sayin'... ::)
-
Bad news today on the lightening damage report: $1200 in repairs needed.
Could you bill that to the Pastor who's leaving?
-
He already graciously took me around this past week. :)
But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...
Well, we still haven't been to the Reservoir. ;)
Seriously, I think a jaunt through Central Park - with a walk around the Reservoir - should definitely be on your "To Do" list.
Plus, we could start off at Levain, and pick up some "nourishment" for the walk, and then end at Grom to cool down with some gelato.
-

KISSIMMEE!
I should know! I lived there for 6 years!
You haven't seen the statue in my honor???!!! :D
-
DR Jennifer - Since you followed "SYTYCD" too this season, have you seen THIS (http://youtube.com/watch?v=koC7zRRHkdA&mode=related&search=)?
;D
-
Well, you could do what I did and get down to Battery Park and walk from there all the way up to where DR Elmore lives...you will see a LOT during that days walk!
Oh, and have lunch at the diner across the street from Macey's...it just seems so NY-ish.
Well, I don't know about a diner across the street from Macey's, but there is one across the street from Macy's. ;)
Although, there are a couple of diners in that area, however, I think you're thinking of the one attached to the Hotel New Yorker.
-
DR Elmore told me where to go once...but I didn't know how to get there.
You don't need to know how to get there. You just end up there.
-
But today, Jose was making it sound like he is pretty busy this next week...
Well... I got an e-mail today, and it looks like I will have a bit more free time next week than I thought. Right now, the only things on my plate are the three days of Alladin auditions, Tuesday-Thursday. So... Monday is open... As are my evenings. *And I'm still trying to decide whether or not to have some sort of gathering next Sunday. ;)
-
After working at Q for several months now, I can really appreciate how brilliant the puppetry work was on the Muppet Show... Some of this stuff requires 2 or 3 operators PER CHARACTER!
-

Jose's Journal Of A Voyeur:
"I WAS NEVER BLINDED BY THE BLACKLIGHT!"
Now in paperblack... paperback!
;)

Do they still have the restaurant in the bottom of Macys... where you have to take the wooden escalator to get down?
I love eating in The Cellar. And when Steve comes up to NYC, besides eating at least one meal at Becco, we also sup at Macy's. They have a great "Meal for Two" deal that includes a soup or salad, entree (chicken, steak, shrimp), even dessert. And, I have to say, the steak there is pretty damn good!
There's also the cafeteria-style La Cucina with various stations with various types of food. *And, again, the Mac & Cheese is highly recommended.
-
What can I say? Today provided us with plenty o' material.
Also, I think I heard a big cacophony on the 2nd keyboard during "What I Did For Love" when Jose finally got his nap in...
(In all seriousness, Jose - and the rest of the orchestra - were pretty phenomenal this evening...God, what I'd give to have them playing for me...)
Well... As long as you didn't notice anything funny during the Intro to "At The Ballet"... :-X
-
OH! You said Keyboard 2! - I was on Keyboard 3 tonight, so... Nevermind. ;)
-
I just had to get into the jungle and get my face soaked with sweat...
Was that before or after he took one credit at each and every state college in Massachusetts?
-
Was that before or after he took one credit at each and every state college in Massachusetts?
During. But before Shonghai...
-
However, he is currently finishing his degree at American University in Washington, DC. He's just taking one class each semester, and that class only meets one day a week. And he takes the Chinatown bus back and forth.
Shonghai.
-
OK... Well...
I was pretty darn tired when I left the theatre earlier tonight, and I was even more darn tired after my subway ride back uptown.
And after this flurry of a-reading and a-posting and a-laughing...
Goodnight.
-
However, since we're soooooo close....
-
'Night, Jose...
See you tomorrow, most likely...

See you tomorrow, most likely...
TOTES!
*And I just burned a CD with your various "fashion pics" for you.
-
Me want monkeycake.
-
My legs are VERY sore. But I WILL jog tomorrow, not until the afternoon probably, as I'm getting my haircut in the morning - no time to blonde up for this trip, I'm afraid.
-
I'm yawning.

TOTES!

Is the Superman set on there, too??? ;D
