Well, you've read the notes, the notes were here, there, and everywhere, and now it is time for you to post until the shtupping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CLAMANT!
-
I've been watching Clamant! Jane in "Deadwood" over the past few weeks.
-
DP Colin and I enjoyed "Bon Voyage" a lot.
-
Goodnight DR George. I hope you've shifted all those boxes.
-
Hello insomniacs of America. Try watching "Baseball".
-
Goodnight DR George. I hope you've shifted all those boxes.
Well, actually...no. ::) I got distracted by TV. What else is new? I watched last night's episodes of "Ghost Whisperer" and the last two episodes of "Raines." All three were very good.
-
Or perhaps listen to the score of "Blood Brothers".
-
You really are an exemplary procrastinator DR George Manana is good enough for me. (a Peggy Lee reference).
-
I also watched last night's "20/20" about transgendered children! Barbara Walters interviewed a 16 year old female-to-male, and six and ten year old male-to-female transgendered children. Talk about heart-wrenching. It was very well done. And the parents of the children are SO supportive. They get what's happening with their children and love them unconditionally.
And then I also watched this morning's "The View" with Alec Baldwin. Oh my goodness...what he's been through with his divorce, I wouldn't wish on anyone. He's writing a book on parental alienation. It's not a book specifically about what's been happening to him, but this kind of situation in general.
-
Good night, Tomovoz. Have a good evening. :)
-
Thanks George.
-
DR thingdrawer has caught up!
-
Don't worry, DR MBarnum. I confuse Lorenzo Lamas with Juliet Mills all the time! ;)
-
I spy, with my eye, a Singdaw!
Good night to you too! 8)
-
DR MusicGuy: Peter Conte of Wanamaker fame? Is he going to let you play the Grand Court organ? Are you a member of the AGO?
-
It's always easier to identify Hayley Lamas.
-
DR George...wish I were closer! I'd help you with those boxes. G'night!
-
It's always easier to identify Hayley Lamas.
Or Hayley Llamas.
-
Dinner time in OZ. Goodnight.
-
G'night, DR Tomovoz!!
Will you be supping on stewed llama?
-
I wonder if Haling Llamas in Peru is as difficult as haling taxis.
-
DR George...wish I were closer! I'd help you with those boxes. G'night!
You probably shouldn't make that offer...I'd take you up on it! ;)
Good night!

I wonder if Haling Llamas in Peru is as difficult as haling taxis.
Don't know about that, but rather that than hailing taxis. Ouch!

Our weather this week has been in clamant.

Vibes for DR DANISE and her mom.
-
Such stunning photographs from DR MBARNUM.
Ms Beverly Washburn is prettier as a grown up lady than she was as a child or teen ager that's for sure.
Wow - Holly from LAND OF THE LOST!!
Ms Laurie Mitchell looks beautiful and that's a great display! And thanks for the Baird update! I know that Annette has said that Sharon is her BEST friend from the Mouse days.
Juliet and Rad were so sweet in NO, MY DARLING DAUGHTER! I think everyone should see it! Not sure if DR CP got to his copy so that he could see the on location London filming....but it's a lot of fun!
-
Work today.....ho hum.
Sending BIG ATTENDANCE vibes to the Ray Courts Show!
-
Congrats to DR CASON on his Cabaret venture!

And the word of the day is: CLAMANT!
At some point in each of his cartoons, Huckleberry Hound loved to sing "My Darling CLAMANTine" as loudly as he could.
-
Good morning, all! It's a very lazy day today. I'll go to the NYPL theatre collection around 11:30, since my meeting yesterday lasted for 4 hours!
I need go do some work with LIFE BEGINS AT 8:40 program before my trip to the Shubert Archive on Tuesday.
Tonight, I'm seeing JOURNEY'S END. I look forward to it.
I have nothing else to say
-
Thanks for all the photos, DR MBarnum.
Even with shiny face and unshaven, you're still devastating!
:)
-
DR Danise, my heart goes out to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother. Take your friend up on her offer to go with you. There will be plenty of time to be alone with your thoughts, accept the kind offer of support now, you'll be glad you did.

I must go to breakfast. Laters

My feet hurt.
Yesterday, I spent my workday wrangling carts again.
It wasn't as bad as Tuesday, when I wrangled in the blazing sun and hadn't done the job for quite some time, so I ended up with very sore legs, a sore back, and sunburn.
This time, my muscles were ready. But it was raining. The whole day was spent outside, in what ranged from misty through light to moderate to pouring rain.
And the rain didn't make the pavement of the parking lot any softer. So my feet hurt.
A few other notes about rain and parking lots:
Normally, customers are fairly good about getting their carts into the corrals provided, so whoever is wrangling has someplace specific to wrangle from. This isn't true in foul weather. The customers want to get out of the wet, and are more likely to leave the carts wherever they can. I spent a lot of time seeking out carts that had been left sitting between cars in the lot.
Also, there was something about the rain that brought out driver rudeness. I witnessed more drivers honking at other cars that weren't getting out of their way, more drivers stopping their cars right in front of the three ramps in front of the store that are supposed to be used for getting the carts out of and into the store (and are supposed to be kept clear, by law, for handicapped access), and more drivers deciding that they really wanted to be at the Daytona Speedway.
Fortunately, I won't be wrangling today. I'll be inside, cashiering.
But I'm scheduled for wrangling next Tuesday and Wednesday.
I just hope we'll be having good weather on those days.
:P

Zach has just returned from a playdate with Grover, the Rector's dog.
Not to be confused with the Randy Vicar.

Good morning! I was just awakened for the second time by telemarketers. The first one had such a thick accent that it took my asking her 3 times to understand that I had "won" a free camera phone.
I think it's most unseemly of them to be calling at 8:30 on the only morning I have to catch up on sleep from my sleep-deprived week.
-
Unseemly? It's downright presumptuous!
Both you AND bk had your dreams prematurely interrupted by the telephonic device in the same 24 hours. Me, I have the ringer turned off in the budoir, so people can call all they like; I just don't hear it.
-
I was trying to get through yesterday's notes but kept falling asleep (no reflection on the quality of postings, just a long week of editing by day and activities every night.
So I didn't get to DR Danise's post until this morning.
I echo the sentiments of everyone else, Danise. I have not been through this with my parents but my father is in poor health so I know it will be something I will be dealing with in the near future. You are going through this with grace and compassion and my heart goes out to you.
And absolutely I agree that you made the best decision possible. You will have a support group of people who know exactly what to do because they have had so much experience, and they will know what you need, too.
Sometime the kindest thing you can do for someone is to tell that little white lie. Don't feel bad---you are doing it out of love!
Mega hugs and vibes to you, Danise. Try to get some rest and let us know how you're doing, when you can.
-
After work yesterday I went to the wedding rehearsal and Greg and I did a test run to measure the cable runs for the various speakers and microphones.
This wedding is being held at a beautiful and pretty expensive historic hall here in Marietta. It looks like it will be very nice, with a full dinner. But it seems like a lot of effort and expense for only 35 guests!
-

May the party be clamant!
-
After the rehearsal, we went to the downtown square, w here they have concerts on Friday nights. I was hunting for my mother, who was going to be there. I never found her---it was cold out so she may have left early, but we did find a lot of our good preservation/activist friends.
One of them said "There's someone you HAVE to meet" and introduced me to his friend, who was a lawyer. The lawyer who represented the mother of the chinchy bassa developer who was suing her own son for stealing an inheritance that was rightly hers.
It was weird to talk to someone so intimately familiar with details of events we were immersed in for years. He is probably the only one beside the immediate family who knows all this stuff. He even knew how this developer had stolen property from my brother and father, an event which caused a major rift between them that has never healed and left much bitterness.
Everyone we saw said they were thinking of us when it was announced that the evil developer's project was going into foreclosure. Too bad they didn't know he was a bad risk BEFORE they destroyed our National Register Historic District, and our once beatiful view of the mountain. (Now we have a brick wall 10 feet from our hedge.)
Anyway, it's nice to see a bit of karma in action.
-
Oh, and as far as the case with the mother, they ruled in her favor but gave him most of the money because she was 93 and they didn't want the kids fighting over her inheritance again. What kind of judge is that?
-

Thanks, DR Sing! I wish you were there to sing at the wedding!
It's the second marriage for both, so it should at least be m ore relaxed!

Her husband has cancer, so I hope everything is OK with them.

Oy, what a way to start page 3. Sorry.
-
MBarnum, I love seeing all the photos, especially with the Spiderbaby actress, all grown up.
And Little Miss (can't remember her name) is either 4 feet tall, or you are 7 feet tall!

I really enjoyed the pictures, DR MBarnum. Thank you so much for sharing. It's too bad Ms. Mills' still super-fantastic looking hubby wasn't there with her.

I was really salivating over the ads for DVD before it became a national phenomenon. Originally, DVD was rolled out in only eight cities for a test run (alas, Charlotte wasn't one of them). So, as soon as I could get one, I bought my first DVD player - a Panasonic.
-
The two James Cagney movies I ordered arrived the other day from Deep Discount, so I may get to one of them tonight if other DVD responsibilities don't get in the way. I'll do THE BRIDE CAME C.O.D. first.

The woman who needs a veil of protection from modern life
By VICTORIA MOORE
No, she's NOT a beekeeper. This woman believes that her bizarre headgear can save her from the dangerous electrosmog all around us. Can she possibly be right?
Before knocking on Sarah Dacre's door, I take the precaution of checking my mobile phone. It's switched off, as she has requested.
"Last time someone came to visit," she warns, "I started feeling awfully nauseous. It turned out he had a picture phone with him and had left it switched on. A picture phone!"
She pauses, looking genuinely horrified. Apparently, this type of mobile automatically sends signals to a local base station every nine minutes - "No wonder I felt so sick."
We sit down in the living-room of the airy, north London house that, for the past two years, has been Sarah's refuge from modern life. Save for the absence of a television, it looks ordinary enough.
But beneath the coats of magnolia paint, she points out, the walls are lined with a special paper that contains a layer of tin-foil; and upstairs, the windows are hung with a fine, silvery gauze.
These aren't idiosyncratic decorating decisions, though. All these silvery layers are here for a purpose: to keep the 21st century at bay.
Sarah, 51, is one of a growing band of people who claim to be experiencing extreme - and incapacitating - sensitivity to electrical appliances, as well as to certain frequencies of electromagnetic waves.
"Wi-Fi, or wireless broadband networks, seem to be the worst thing," she says.
"Closely followed by mobile phones - particularly if they're being used in an enclosed space - the base stations of cordless telephones and mobile phone masts.

Yes, that is nice. Now I'm just trying to figure out how much I should keep the "relationship" going. I really don't expect for Mr. Kander to recommend for jobs, actually, I just want to hang out with him every now and then. The best times I've had with him so far have been when we haven't talked about the show or musical theatre.
-
I'm sure you won't miss the daily commute.
Nope. -Although it's been fun working my way through the various vendors in the Dining Concourse at Grand Central.

Tribe Holds Camel Beauty Pageant
By Andrew Hammond
Reuters
GUWEI'IYYA, Saudi Arabia (April 26) - The legs are long, the eyes are big, the bodies curvaceous.
Contestants in this Saudi-style beauty pageant have all the features you might expect anywhere else in the world, but with one crucial difference -- the competitors are camels.
This week, the Qahtani tribe of western Saudi Arabia has been welcoming entrants to its Mazayen al-Ibl competition, a parade of the "most beautiful camels" in the desolate desert region of Guwei'iyya, 75 miles west of Riyadh.
...
"In Lebanon they have Miss Lebanon," jokes Walid, moderator of the competition's Web site. "Here we have Miss Camel."

On the subject of CABARET, I really love the new revisal with one exception: Cliff's singing role has been seriously diminished, and I don't understand the rationale behind that at all. Unlike the film where all the songs not done in performance or a public domain (the outdoor scene)were eliminated, the CABARET revisal still retains book numbers for the other characters. Cliff's wonderful songs should also be retained.

Beatles Catalog To Be Remastered, Offered Online
The Beatles' entire back catalog will soon be available for download - but only when each track has been digitally remastered to perfection. Up until now, the Fab Four are one of the few acts to have resisted making their work available at the iTunes Music Store. They were similarly the last stars to release their catalog onto compact disc.
But the boss of their record label Apple Corps, Neil Aspinall, revealed the development in London's High Court, where the company is currently battling Apple Computer over its logo.
He said, "We're remastering the whole Beatles catalog, just to make it sound brighter and better and getting proper booklets to go with each of the packages. I think it would be wrong to offer downloads of the old masters when I am making new masters. It would be better to wait and try to do them both simultaneously so that you then get the publicity of the new masters and the downloading, rather than just doing it ad hoc."

DR MBarnum was indeed devastating -- those eyes, that smile, those charming dimples...and that DR MusicGuy (our host that Tuesday night for the HHW West Coast Bash -- thank you!! -- it was delightful) who is most debonair, and delectable eye candy (you're right, DR Edi) -- actually as I looked about, that entire HHW table was full of eye candy -- DRBarnum, DS Boo-Key, the wildy entertaining blonde bombshell Grand Pooh-Pah and the petite and pretty Miss Patti. I have no doubt Bratty Spooghetti (as in oops I forgot, or oops I was abducted by aliens, or oops I...whatever ..) would have only added more to that confectionery evening. (I hope the aliens have returned him after all the probing....). Then I had the boys all to myself the next morning over pancakes (ooh-la-laah ;)) which was hosted and presided over by our fearless leader -- thanks, BK! DR Jane ~ How is DP Sherlock of the Giant Paws doing? I'm sure there are updates in all the postings, but who knows how long it will take me to cover them all -- so I'm gonna cheat on this one and ask for a direct update...

For a small town paper, that IS unexpected (watch the letters to the editor to see if they catch any flack from their readers) -- or maybe the town has a lot of old hippies as residents....
-
my last Metro-North Hudson Line trip up.
Actually, DR JoseSPiano, it's the Metro-North New Haven line. :)
-
Greetings, DR Naomi Dingdaw! Where is everyone? You'd think it was a Saturday or something...
-
the bartenders at the Campbell Apartment really know their mixology
And their phraseology, too?
-
Speaking of it actually being a Saturday, and gorgeous here in AZ today, I need to go work in the yard, unpack a suitcase, clean a house, edit a tape for a teen breakfast this week, etc., etc. So I shouldn't be on here myself...how quickly that addiction grabs hold of ya and pulls ya back in...all that rehab down the drain...
-
Hello, DR Miss Karen!!! We've missed you. Glad the LA gathering was such a success. You're too modest to include yourself, but that whole table was quite the attractive lot! :)
-
Not sure - ask Cole Porter - it's his line.
der Brucer
I was wrong. 44th and Broadway.
-
DR ELmo just flitted on to the screen -- how ya doing?
-
Some people think the show is just Weill through and through, though. Others like it a Lotte.
Ah, THERE'S the DR FJL we all know and love!! :) :) :)
-
Didn't Lorraine Sheldon get pinched in the Astor Bar?
Nope.
Have you heard that Mimsy Farr
Just got pinched in the Astor Bar?
Well! Did you evah?
What a swell party this is?
-
Off to help my mother with her packing.
See y'all later!
-
Hello, DR Miss Karen!!! We've missed you. Glad the LA gathering was such a success. You're too modest to include yourself, but that whole table was quite the attractive lot! :)
Not only do they have looks, but wit, charm, and brains (they have it all -- very representative of the HHW family)...
-
I'm outta here, too! Page 6 Happy Trails Shuffle to the door!
-
There was something seriously wrong with that cheese I just ate.
-
Now I'm just trying to figure out how much I should keep the "relationship" going. I really don't expect for Mr. Kander to recommend for jobs, actually, I just want to hang out with him every now and then. The best times I've had with him so far have been when we haven't talked about the show or musical theatre.
That’s great. Then simply spend time together when it’s convenient & comfortable for both of you.

For anyone afraid of getting old, this video is for YOU!

Thank you for asking. Until we return to the specialist on May 17th, I expect it will be pretty much the same. Except for red & goopy eyes due to spring allergies, he feels fine & therefore is bored with just short walks & no play time. Once in awhile we think he is limping again, but it is for such a brief moment we aren't sure.
-
Sandra do you feel ok?
-
Sandra do you feel ok?
Yeah. I think I just need a Cherry Coke to get rid of the taste. And maybe some pudding.
-
Well, I knew someone got pinched in the Astor Bar. Where did Lorraine Sheldon get pinched?
-
Back from shipping and jogging and also jogging and shipping. I've decided not to go back to the Courts show today - so I save twenty-two bucks (with the parking).
-
I hate waiting for someone who says "I'll be there sometime in the afternoon". That is all.
-
I did plant the tomato, eggplant and sweet basil plants I bought last weekend. The sun is pretty hot so they look a little wilty, but I think they will bounce back once they get used to being in a big pot on the front porch
-
Speaking of THE FULL MONTY, and I was; our small-town newspaper posted their review of the local production of the show with a very unexpected photo (at least, for them).
Which one is you?
-
I also went for a walk. It wasn't a long walk but very steep hills. I'm thinking about doing the same walk this evening. It's a start.
-
Actually, DR JoseSPiano, it's the Metro-North New Haven line. :)
Ah, that's right. I take the Hudson Line up to Poughkeepsie to Vassar for New York Stage & Film.
-
And their phraseology, too?
Well, after one of those very dry martinis, "phraseology" is non-existent. Or at least non-capable.
-
Hi Jose! I hope you get to continue your friendship with John Kander. I've only said hello to him a couple times, but he seemed very nice.
-
Saturday greetings! I'm at work today, having taught the April edition of Grantseeking Basics this morning. One of the attendees is someone who has just taken a job in northern Kentucky (greater Cincinnati), doing what I do here in Dayton and what my business specialist co-worker does. Fortunately, that's a much smaller library and community. She and I went to Panera for lunch and had a short "consult" afterward.
-
This afternoon my tree guy is coming to give an estimate on removing some dead/rotting trees. I'm a little concerned about how much it's going to cost, but it has to be done. The tree guy is a looker. Paul said he used to have the nicest ass in town....my reaction was "used to?"
Two words: Digital Camera.
;)
Then 'we' can pass judgment on, if indeed, he "used to".
;D
-
{{{{{{{DR Danise}}}}}}} - I agree with everyone here that you're doing exactly what needs to be done and setting an example for the rest of us. Please remember that we're here for you and that our best vibes, thoughts, and prayers are on their way.
-
Hi Jose! I hope you get to continue your friendship with John Kander. I've only said hello to him a couple times, but he seemed very nice.
I hope so too. And he is very nice. -And I guess I should e-mail him a "Closing Night" greeting.
-
OK... I should get ready for the 4:00 matinee... OH! And they're serving Eggplant Parmigiana as part of the between-show meal. YUM!
Laters...

Probably not when he's giving the estimate, but if he's here when they take down the trees I'll see what I can do - have to take photos of the trees you know ;)
-
Eggplant...hmmm. That sounds good. I planted some today, but that won't be ready for dinner so think I'll run to the store. That will surely get the tree man here, lol

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com? Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Will we never get to page seven?
-
Possibly not.
-
Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com? Where in tarnation IS everyone?
Well, I'm on my futon drinking Cherry Coke and listening to the Glenn Miller Orchestra on my iPod Artaxerxes. So, yes, it is a slow news day.
-
I was wrong

-
Boo-yah!
Page Seven "Begin the Beguine" Dance. Since that's what Glenn Miller is playing.
-
Pennsylvania 6-5000!
I'm going now. Bloog wants to go to the grocery store.
-
Okay, since this is a slow-news day, I will post another photo from the friend who admitted to sending me the baseball photo (He also has no idea who the playeres are).
Before anyone becomes upset, this is a optically retouched photo - No children were injured in the taking of this photo!
-
It's too bad Ms. Mills' still super-fantastic looking hubby wasn't there with her.
You mean that balding :o gentleman next to Donna?!

I guess Bloog has a blog, no?!

I didn't mind Cliff's songs being cut in the Sam Mendes/Rob Marshall revisal. I think it helped to set apart Cliff as more of an observer - which is what I think Mssrs. Mendes and Marshall had in mind.
Well, yes, he is an observer and a narrator, but he interacts with all of them too, and "Why Should I wake Up" is too beautiful a song to lose.
-
Speaking of THE FULL MONTY, and I was; our small-town newspaper posted their review of the local production of the show with a very unexpected photo (at least, for them).
I am no prude, and I loved the picture, but I certainly could see this kind of picture causing hundreds of complaints if it were published in a paper around here.
-
Will we never get to page seven?
We're there.
-
Maybe ask Michael Jackson?
der Brucer
It's not a Lennon & McCartney song!

I spent this afternoon (in between phone calls and other household chores) watching the new Ultimate Edition of LIVE AND LET DIE.
Of the Roger Moore Bonds, it's one of the better ones, and now it looks and sounds great. The picture, as with all of the new editions, has been scrubbed of all dirt, hair, and damage. The DTS sound is not omni-present in the surrounds, but when it kicks in, it has real power and makes the film seem almost new. Glad to have this in the new version.
-
TOnight I'll watch SUPERNATURAL and then maybe another Bond - GOLDENEYE. It has gotten quite a bit of criticism because of bad framing, so I'm anxious to see what they've done to it. I think the old edition looks and sounds smashing, so this one is going to be interesting to compare to the original issue.
-
I am heading downstairs now to take care of the sheets and towels in the dryer, and then will be going back to TV for the evening.
WBBL.
-
I wish LOVEMUSIK had tried out somewhere before going right to Broadway. Ultimately it is closer in technique to BOY FROM OZ than JERSEY BOYS in its telling of its story and shoehorning of songs into the life story, but shoehorn them in it sure does, at times to jarring effect. But if it is factual, what an education LOVEMUSIK is into important lives in the musical theater, and a relatively painless- mostly fast-moving - education at that. And Michael Cerveris and Donna Murphy give performances that totally make you forget the actors and purely become their respective visions of the characters.
-
I have finished proofing (boy, in the last few pages did I find some corkers - obvious missing apostrophes, letters missing from words - how those got by me the first time through I have no idea).
The good news is, I'm very happy with this book
-
Miss Karen, when does Cason open in CABARET? Can we expect another HHW gathering for opening night?
Well, I'll field this question, if you don't mind Mammy!
The show will run for three weekends - it'll show on Friday and Saturday nights (and if we can fill the houses, we'll do Sunday matinees) for the last weekend in June and the first two weeks in July.
June 29
June 30
(July 1?)
July 6
July 7
(July 8?)
July 13
July 14
(July 15?)
We had our first read-through last night and promptly started blocking "Willkommen" and I have to say, I've never been more excited to do a show after just the first rehearsal. The cast is going to be really good and strong and the dancing is a blast already.
The show itself is going to take some moments from both the original and the revival. They are still organizing ideas and deciding which songs will be included and which will be cut. It'll be a work in progress here for a little while, but we'll have our first go next week -- they want us to perform the opening number for a fundraiser the theater is holding on Friday. So, we'll have a pick-up on Tuesday, finish blocking, and then we'll give it what we've got for our first "audience."
I'll of course keep you all posted - with, yes, lots of pictures - and hopefully another HHW gathering could be organized! :D
-
DR MattH, after reading your comments about GHOST WHISPERER I could swear i saw a to be continued at the end. But maybe that was this week's MEDIUM?
-
Speaking of Mr. Kander, listening to some of the songs from Cabaret last night, I was once again just amazed at how brilliant the show really is. Chill after chill just sitting there listening, much less when I actually get to be up on stage performing them... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
-
Tomorrow belongs to you DR Cason.
-
Well, it's a beautiful day - so I'm going to go out for a run. Thank you all for the congratulations on the part!
DR Danise -- my heart goes out to you and your family from here on out in what you are all going through. Much love and support.
-
More vibes for DR Danise and her mother. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was very upset after reading about this today. DR Danise i hope that you let your co-worker go with you. I must have missed the details about Pittsburgh, but i get the gist of it.
DR Danise we are all here for you. And i'm sure if many of us lived closer that you would have many offers to accompany you (i know i would surely go).
Please take care. And post here when you can.

For those in the New York area, it looks like PBS will be running Peter Eotvos's operatic adaptation of Angels in America on Sunday night at 10:00 PM.
Not in Western Washington. :-\
I'd like to see this. I'll have to keep looking in the listings.
-
Bloog and I are back from the grocery store. I have successfully replenished my supply of pudding and am now eating cereal right out of the box, the way the good Lord intended it. I also purchased some fake vomit, but don't anybody tell my mom. I want to see what kind of mischief the Bloog and I can come up with.
-
Tomorrow belongs to you DR Cason.
And Tomovoz belongs to you!
-
As for the Topic of the Day, I don't give two and a half figs for Sonic, but I LOVE the commercials with those two guys in the car.
And one time, my cousin and I were watching TV somewhere in Kansas, and both our jaws dropped when we saw a commercial advertising that McDonald's was selling Fruit-Rollups. We're both vegetarian, so we weren't about to go to McDonald's, but we were speechless, which is saying a lot if you know me and my cousin.

I see a cat in the grass!!
Fake vomit???? Is the real thing so hard and expensive to get!! :o :-\

Off to JOURNEY'S END. Ta!

Ahh, so there wasn't a conflict with the 18th, 19th, and 20th afterall, heh? Or did they move it back a week? I answered wrong in my earlier post -- so went back and deleted the wrong dates I gave TCB (except they're captured in my quote that was in his following response...oh well)

Good Evening!
Now that was some good eatin'! The Eggplant Parmigiana was very good. Even people who don't normally like eggplant liked it tonight. Plus there was some amazing green bean salad that totally blew everyone away. And there was some great pasta dish with beans and escarole, chicken with peppers and pot roast. Oh! And cake and cookie and ice cream! We're all a bit stuffed, but the show must go on, ya' know! ;)
-
I see that DR Danise is currently signed in...
-
Well, I want to snap a few more pics before the show, so...

Hi all. It has been another very long day. They transfered Mom to the Hospice house this afternoon.
It is a very nice place and we are both quite comfortable. I will be staying the night and will just go home tomorrow to check on and feed the dogs.
I was amazed when they said I could bring one of the dogs for a short visit. I might try to bring Bear on Monday but we'll have to see about that.
Mom is resting and I am glad that I made the decision to bring her here. They are doing a good job of taking care of me as well. When they heard I hadn't really eaten in two days, they brought me a meal which was wonderful.
I think I shall be laying down myself. I am very tired.
I want to thank all of your for emails, phone calls and just being there for me. I looked at some of the emails while I was home so I can't really answer them because they are not on the server for me to retrieve on this computer.
I am so very glad I have this computer as well. It's been a Godsend in more then one way.
-
((((((((((((((((Danise))))))))))))))))
I wish there were something I could do to make this easier... I am glad you are surrounded by good caring people....
-
Hi Danise. I'm so glad you are both settled and I hope you can get Bear in for a visit.
-
I just got off the phone with my boss. She is going to come over tomorrow for a visit.
The lady who offered to go with me to Pittsburgh came over this afternoon. It was nice to have someone to talk to.
-
Hi Vixmom. So what happened with the Mint Thins? ;D
-
Danise I wish I could visit you and it warms my heart to know you have company.
-
Thank you Jane and Vixmom.
I brought Mom the lab toy dog I bought in NYC at the worlds biggest Toys R Us in Times Square. I told her that Bear and Sheena had sent it since they couldn't come vist. That was before I was told that I might be able to bring them in.
I wouldn't bring Sheena. She's a little excitable but I think Bear would be fine with it.
-
I think Bear would be just fine.
-
I spoke with the doctor this morning and found out that what Mom has is an aneurism (spelling?) in her aorta (spelling again?). It is leaking blood and will simply "pop". She said I could be looking at her and she could just be gone. It will be very fast and almost painless. I am so grateful for that mercy.
-
Last night I was treated to "Legally Blonde" a friend of mine won 6 tickets in a basketball pool and we made it a girls' night out... all the other "girls" are in their late 20's and early thirties and all are fans of the movies.
This 49 year old had never seen the movies, but I dutifully (as instructed) donned a pink sweater set. I offered to drive 3 of the girls in in (the other 2 were meeting us at the theater after a day in hte Big Apple)
I was prepared not to like it, and I found the opening song a bit grating... (well it was funny for the first minute or so but then became a bit tedious....)
But I found myself drawn in more and more... and by the courtroom scene I was laughing so hard the tears were rolling down my face
This really was a fun show (though I don't know that I would buy the OCR - due out in June)
Somewhere around the 3rd round, the hostess began setting up the tables to accomodate a large party next to our booth... it was Laura Bell Bundy and her extended family all the way from Ol' Kentuck....
A fun night.
Afterwards we went to the Pig & Whistle where I , designated driver, drank my Shirley Temples while the girls worked their way through the Martini menu... CHOCOLATE Martinis?
-
Danise is the toy lab dog cuddly? If your mother is the sort to cuddle with a stuffed toy, one might give her comfort.
-
Hi Vixmom. So what happened with the Mint Thins? ;D
OH! I keep meaning to PM you and then I forget... when your MIL got sick I didn't want to bother you with them so I just kept them fpor us... if you still want them I'll be happy to get some more and send them out
-
{{{{{{DANISE}}}}}}
-
Danise, I just read your post regarding the aneurism (spelling correct). What a blessing to know she won't suffer at the end.
-
DR VIXMOM, I love the movie Legally Blonde. I think it's upbeat and empowering. Nice to see a smart blonde for a change. I'm looking forward to seeing the musical some day
-
Vixmom would it be difficult to send a box? Her weight is down to under 87 pounds and having something she might enjoy eating would be very nice. One box would be enough.
-

It is so unselfish of you to be able to let her leave gently and with grace and dignity
:-*
-
I think one other thing I am very happy about is that at least with the meds and the oxygen, she is her "nice" self.
Yesterday morning was just horrible. She was pulling everything off of her and she said some really nasty things to the nurse and of course to me. She hated me and kept telling me to leave her alone. I had to go home to pick up some paperwork anyway and by the time I came back, they said she was looking for me and was scared I wasn't coming back. She's been fine ever since.
How I hate it when she gets to the state. They expained that is normal but it is sure hart to take. I pray she is not that way when the time comes. I want my loving mother not the shrew for my last memory of her.
-
Danise, sounds like the hospice decision was a really good one. I'm glad they are taking care of you too, and reminding you to eat.
-

I am planning to rent the dvd's and check them out, I think you would not be dissappointed.
BTW I noticed in Playbill a few Lestat credits....
-
Danise, sounds like the hospice decision was a really good one. I'm glad they are taking care of you too, and reminding you to eat.
And I'm glad all of your mother's fears of hospice did not come true. It is comforting to know you are both in caring, loving hands now.
-
Danise is the toy lab dog cuddly? If your mother is the sort to cuddle with a stuffed toy, one might give her comfort.
Yes and she has been holding it in her arms since I gave it to her. :)
I like Legally Blonde as well. I first saw it when I stayed at the Muse in NY. I just bought the double DVD with both movies on it.
VixMom, I know that the Vixters Birthday is tomorrow. I am so sorry I didn't get the chance to mail her a card this year. Please tell her that I do wish her a very Happy day.
-

I'd be happy to, PM the address again and I can get a box out tomorrow by Express Mail...
I was afraid she couldn't eat them...I didn't want to be mean to nice, sick, old lady taunting her with treats she would be denied
-

The second movie is fun too

The meds and pain can sometimes cause that...I am glad she is back to herself... and remember always the "real" mom that you have had all these years
-
LOL-She couldn't eat until just a few days ago. No need to express them, they will be good whenever they arrive and Keith's brother can't visit her every day.
I'll PM now, so let me know if you don't receive it.
-
Yes and she has been holding it in her arms since I gave it to her. :)
:D :D :D
-
Danise, you are a fabulous daughter.
-
Just got up to check on Mom, she is sleeping.
This is a very nice room. I shall have to take some pictures. I took a couple at the hospital before she was transfered.
-
It is a wonderful evening here. After what felt like a nice summer day. Tomorrow will be hot - 90 degrees! So, tonight, in honor of summer...I shall go get ice cream!

Oh Gosh! With all you have to deal with you are worried about the Vixter's birthday?! You are a Saint.
I herenow proclaim by the powers granted unto me (by me)
That from this day forward
DR Danise shall be known as DS (Dear Saint) Danise
I haven't gotten her a card yet... She's not even here!! She went away with her church youth group to New Jersey for a Lutheran Youth Convention
i suppose I should get cracking on that....

I think the tree guy has been boss too long and Paul was probably right, lol. He will be much richer after cutting down 8 full grown trees on my yard. YIKES!!! They are all either totally dead or rotten on the bottom and in danger of falling on either my house or a neighbor's house. SO, I'm biting the bullet. His crew will take them all out in about 2 weeks.
-
Danise, you are a fabulous daughter.
Not so good. When she's been in shrew mode (before yesterday) I've said some bad things to her. I feel very bad about it now but at the time I was soooo mad. I wish I could take it back. I really didn't mean it.
-
I am thinking about planting 2 apple trees near the gazebo. They would have nice blossoms in the spring and tasty apples in the fall. (you have to plant 2 so they can bear fruit)
-

Yikes, I don't how much that costs where your at but here that's at LEAST a hundred dollars per tree!

Danise, you are a fabulous and human daughter. With all the stress, anyone would say bad things once in a while. Don't beat yourself up about it.
-
Danise even saints have their limitations. When I think of all the years you have cared for your mother, I also consider you a saint, or about as close to one as any person can be.
-
We have two trees on our front lawn that really should be removed...one is dead and falling apart... we had a lot of the biggest branches lopped off a year ago and then the tree guy vanished before finishing the job (we hadnt paid him yet so no worries)
So it's not in any immediate danger of killing anyone.
The other is valinetly trying to stay alive, throwing out new shoots but it is on it's last legs (roots?) I hate to take them down , and not just because of the $600 we've been quoted, the birds love them and the hollow trunks are full of nests

She probably doesn't remember (* and if she mentions it look suprised and tell her it must have been a dream! LOL)
-
Yikes, I don't how much that costs where your at but here that's at LEAST a hundred dollars per tree!
It's more than that, the trees are much taller than my two story house, there are wires in the way and they can't get their trucks close to 3 of them. So that means climbing and cutting without hitting my house or the neighbors. But it has to be done and it's better than a tree crashing into someone's bedroom in the middle of the night and having who knows what happen. One of the trees is so rotten I poked it with a stick and it went over half way through the trunk. They will also grind out the stumps and take away all the wood.
I've known I had to do both the trees and the chimney this year. I wasn't going to do all the trees at once, but I have the money now and they all need to go, so I'm doing it. I was planning on doing some window work, but that may have to wait. I could sand, paint and seal the bad ones myself.
-
I am thinking about planting 2 apple trees near the gazebo. They would have nice blossoms in the spring and tasty apples in the fall. (you have to plant 2 so they can bear fruit)
OH! I am glad you mentiond that, we were thinking of planting some trees in the back I was thinking an apple and peach would be nice, but I would need to have two of each to get fruit?
Maybe two apple then....
-
The headlines on Google say “Sex scandal rocks Washington” :o Not really ;D
-
we've scared all the boys away
-
We have two trees on our front lawn that really should be removed...one is dead and falling apart... we had a lot of the biggest branches lopped off a year ago and then the tree guy vanished before finishing the job (we hadnt paid him yet so no worries)
So it's not in any immediate danger of killing anyone.
The other is valinetly trying to stay alive, throwing out new shoots but it is on it's last legs (roots?) I hate to take them down , and not just because of the $600 we've been quoted, the birds love them and the hollow trunks are full of nests
Luckily there are still lots of trees around here for the wildlife to enjoy. The birds love my huge pine in the front yard. It gives them a lot of protection.
-
Mom's awake. I'm going to sit with her for awhile.
Laters all! Thank you for the kind words.
-
...I really didn't mean it.
...Neither did she, Dear DR Danise, neither did she. You and she are in the right place now, physically and emotionally, it sounds. Wish I could drop in with some dark chocolate and a big hug.
-
Vixmom, there are a couple here, they just aren't talking.
-
On the subject of CABARET, I really love the new revisal with one exception: Cliff's singing role has been seriously diminished, and I don't understand the rationale behind that at all. Unlike the film where all the songs not done in performance or a public domain (the outdoor scene)were eliminated, the CABARET revisal still retains book numbers for the other characters. Cliff's wonderful songs should also be retained.
I think you mighr be mistaken about the public domain song if you mean the scene at the beer garden where the blond boy and the patron sing Tomorrow Belongs Tom Me. That song is a Kander/Ebb.
If this isn't the scene you mean which one is it?
-
Vixmom, there are a couple here, they just aren't talking.
Jane I just realized my IN box was full, try to PM me the address now, I left some room
-
Ginny-I agree. I have just been so very worried about Danise and can't express how much better I feel now.
-
That makes at least Three of us!
-
Does anyone care to know that 45 years ago today, I wore nylons for the first time? It was my sister's wedding and I was a junior bridesmaid. 45 years - wow!

OH! I am glad you mentiond that, we were thinking of planting some trees in the back I was thinking an apple and peach would be nice, but I would need to have two of each to get fruit?
Maybe two apple then....
I didn't think you had to with apples, but my mother said you did and then she checked with a nursery and they agreed. I know cherry will give fruit with just one tree. I'm going to ask about it to be sure. There are some apple trees out there that grow fast and produce fruit within the first year or two. I'm thinking about planting whatever kind they are. Just decided this today so I haven't done my research yet.
-
Five!
LOL Ginny, you can't be number 1 and number 5...

Well, I knew someone got pinched in the Astor Bar. Where did Lorraine Sheldon get pinched?

Ginny-How fun to remember the first day you wore nylons. Was that also the first day you wore heels? I remember the experience, just not the date-or even how old I was.
I remember being all dressed up with my parents & wearing my little french heels. For some reason we decided to go to the movies. I thought I was sooooo mature looking they wouldn't let me in as a child. My parent’s response was to laugh at me, and darn, sure enough I still got in at the child's rate. I was 17 before I couldn't do that anymore, and then only because Keith found it too embarrassing ;D
-
Does anyone care to know that 45 years ago today, I wore nylons for the first time? It was my sister's wedding and I was a junior bridesmaid. 45 years - wow!
;D
Some years ago I was at an "Lingerie Party" (lieka tupperware party only more fun) and the sales lady brought out some garter belts...
"What the heck are those?" asked some 20 somethings
"Garter belts" I replied, "we used them before they invented panty hose.:
"You were a live before they invented panty hose?"
::) :P
Happy Anniversary to your Sister!
-
LOL Jane, I remember when we used to be quiet and just put the money on the counter hoping that the ticket seller didn't know we were over the "child" age. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't.
-
LOL Ginny, you can't be number 1 and number 5...
Oh, sorry, I lost count! At least I got us to page 10.
-
Vixmom, I take it back, your email was returned.
-
Vixmom the email didn't kick back. I sent it again. Please let me know if you received it.
OH, you emailed... I was looking in my PM box here.... I have to sign off of here to look inmy mail box (I don't know why, this computer is stupid)
-
LOL Ginny, you can't be number 1 and number 5...
She can if she wants to !
-
Oh, sorry, I lost count! At least I got us to page 10.
Oh it's ok, it just cracked me up. I had the image of us sitting around a table when you said you were worried and Jane said "me too" and I said "me three" and Vixmom said "me four" and you said "me five". I'm still laughing about it...sorry, that probably isn't very nice
-
Back from eating and shall now get ready to see a play at LACC.
-
She can if she wants to !
Ok, you're right
-
Ginny-How fun to remember the first day you wore nylons. Was that also the first day you wore heels? I remember the experience, just not the date-or even how old I was....
No, I wore flats, but they were dyed to match the color of my dress, just like the grown-up girls'. My first heels were a couple of years later. Now, the older I get the flatter my shoes are again ::)
-
Vixmom- ;D That is a riot.
Ginny, I never needed to be quiet or concerned I think they would have laughed if I asked for an adult ticket.
-
Ok, I really do want ice cream so I'll be back
-
It's OK, DR Cillaliz, I'm laughing, too!
-
Me too. ;D
-
TREE DANCE
-
Vixmom, you show an address to email you at so I didn't use the PM. I might have said that. Now I have sent you a PM for real.
-
See you guys later...it's been fun hanging with the Women of HHW
-
Bye Cilla :)
-
Ok, I really do want ice cream so I'll be back
Me, too - should it be Coconut Almond Chip or Cherry Cordial?
-
Me too. ;D
Me three!
I'm stepping in with DR Michael S. before this turns into a Tupperware party of old! ;)
-
Bye Cilla :)
By George!
Where's George, btw?!

I have been craving Baskin-Robbins chocolate chip all day.

Bye Cilla!

My favourite ice cream flavour! Used to be "karib" before!!
Oooh, sorry!

GOT it! I'll get the cookies out tomorrow!
Thank you :D
-
I have been craving Baskin-Robbins chocolate chip all day.
Have you done a pregnancy test?? ;D ;D

With ALL those cookies, anyone can whistle!!

I have been craving Baskin-Robbins chocolate chip all day.
Same here but... all night!

Me three!
I'm stepping in with DR Michael S. before this turns into a Tupperware party of old! ;)
oops! too late
-
She said there was no rush!! ;)
I have to get them out of here before they get eaten!!
-
Same here but... all night!
(I prefer Haggendaz - bless you! - actually!)
If it is coffee ice cream than I agree. Years ago they had coffee ice cream with heath bar pieces, absolutely wonderful. While their chocolate is excellent, IMHO, it isn't as good as Baskin-Robbins. Alas, the only chocolate chip that comes close to BR's is in Italy.
-
I have been craving Baskin-Robbins chocolate chip all day.
All the Baskin Robbins around here are having a 31 cent scoop day on May 2
-
Edy's makes a Cappucino chip ice cream that is wonderful!!!
-
Lol....you ladies is so funneee! :)
-
Vixmom-great photo-lol.
Speaking of photos, MBarnum I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed your pics from the show.
-
Blonde comes out three times to check her mailbox.
Man mowing his yard across the street finally says: "The mailman doesn't come on Sundays."
Blonde says: "The damned computer keeps saying 'You've got mail!'"
-
Lorraine Sheldon also said that a friend of hers wore a dress so sheer that you could see Trafalgar Square.
-
And I know that Lorraine stopped speaking to Banjo after he put a microphone under her mattress when she stayed at his place one weekend, and piped to sound to everyone around the swimming pool.
-
Looking forward to DR ELMORE's comments on JOURNEY'S END....and thanks to DR FJL for comments on LOVEMUSIK.
-
I don't care for Edy's. I have seen free ice cream days at BR's but the lines were too long.
-
"They're all the same!" :-\ ;)
-
Cute :). I'm glad I waited to sign off.
'night
-
DR Vixmom - love that graphic. I decided on Coconut Almond Chip and it was yummy!
-
Good night Jane!
-
I don't like cones! They're messy! When I go to Haggendaz, I ask for a paper dish AND the cone to be placed atop the scoops! (Gee! Forgot to ask last time!) And I stay away from sauces! Good ice cream does NOT need anything added, imho!
Of course, you all had to know that! :D
-
Cute :). I'm glad I waited to sign off.
'night
'nuit!

And I know that Lorraine stopped speaking to Banjo after he put a microphone under her mattress when she stayed at his place one weekend, and piped to sound to everyone around the swimming pool.
Wow! That's almost like French humour! YES! There IS such a thing!! :P :D

Rhum Raisins! Delicious!

Waiter? One Mickey Mouse, please?! Merci!

Seems the Tupperware party's disbanded!

Now, we're havin' an ice cream social!

I had a hot fudge sundae!

Boy did that taste good. And I drove around looking at all the blooming trees....I mean trees in bloom, they are so pretty
-
I hate to be a wussberger, but my screwy couple of weeks have caught up with me tonight - gonna crash now.
'night!

I am watching The Lawrence Welk Show and drinking juice.

Sad to say I have never watched the Lawrence Welk show. I've also never tasted cherry coke!

I am having a craving to partake in a dangerous, potentially health risking, dare I say it, death defying activity....
I want Taco Bell......
dare I do it? The drive thru is just around the corner.......

Continued strength vibes to Danise, and vibes in general for the friendship of Danise's co-worker who is helping her so much

What's the scoop du jour?!

I gotta do it!! Taco Bell here I come!!!

DR MattH, after reading your comments about GHOST WHISPERER I could swear i saw a to be continued at the end. But maybe that was this week's MEDIUM?
Definitely MEDIUM and HEROES had that. If GHOST WHISPERER had it, I didn't see it.
-
I think you mighr be mistaken about the public domain song if you mean the scene at the beer garden where the blond boy and the patron sing Tomorrow Belongs Tom Me. That song is a Kander/Ebb.
If this isn't the scene you mean which one is it?
Dear Michael, not public domain as in "not covered by copyright." Public domain as in out in a public place and performing.
Sheesh!
-
I finished LIVE AND LET DIE first tonight. I still had about 15 minutes or so to go. The new repurposed DTS surround track really enhanced the movie.
-
Vixmom, if it makes you feel any better I had Taco Del Mar for dinner.
-
Next, I put in GOLDENEYE. I watched it with the DTS 5.1 sound rather than the Dolby Digital 5.1 track which was on the original DVD.
If the DVD is misframed (some people have said the image has been zoomed in a little from the original issue), I couldn't see any difference in the couple of scenes I compared. And even if it is zoomed, the quality of the transfer is leagues better than the old one. The old one looks very dated now, and I was surprised how mediocre it looked when compared to the new one.
-
I have been reading law practice management articles on the net. Everytime I do that it makes me nervous. I was really looking for suggestion on color for walls in law offices, but got into finance and billing and malpractice and all sorts of fun stuff instead
-
Totally ruined my hot fudge buzz.
-
Think I'll go to bed. Night all
-
SUPERNATURAL had a good episode concerning the spirit of a wicked nurse haunting a prison where she used to work. Wonderfully suspenseful episode, but they're going to have law enforcement in every state looking for them before the series runs its course.
-
Good night, DR Cilla.
-
Words of wisdom from my mother "I don't know what you're talking about beige is beige"
-
Night Matt
-
I concluded my evening of viewing with the James Cagney/Bette Davis romantic comedy THE BRIDE CAME C.O.D. They're a fun twosome together even with the mediocre script they're performing. And lots of great character actors in this one: Jack Carson, Harry Davenport, Stu Erwin, William Frawley, Chick Chandler, Eugene Pallette, Edward Brophy. They can make even middle-of-the-road material entertaining.
-
DR Danise, you are the absolute best! Don't feel bad about anything. You can't worry about barking in moments of stress. Your mother knows how much you care and she's frightened. You are doing fine and you spelled both aorta and aneurism correctly. I send my love.
-
I'll head off to bed now.
Good night!
-
Page Thirteen Fleur Delacour Dance!!!
-
JOURNEY'S END was an amazing production, and the cast and direction were excellent. It's a powerful piece, still quite relevant when it comes to old jerks sacrificing young men for ridiculous causes. The whole assinine class structure of Edwardian England and its snobbism come through loud and clear as well. I don't recall seeing Stark Sands in anything except DIE MOMMY DIE, in which I was underwhelmed, and I thought he was absolutely wonderful here. I think production is hopng to limp along till the Tonys and I hope it succeeds in staying around.
-
I've been thinking about BKs shtupping birds...maybe they aren't the same birds...could it be the nest at your house is a time share?
-
Good heavens, if I'm sitting here contemplating that, I need to go get some sleep.
DR Vixmom - I did survey the trees that are being cut down. I didn't see any nests- bird or squirrel. Of course they could be inside the tree, but somehow I don't think so.
-
Now I'm really going to get some sleep. Night again
-
Good Night Cillaliz! I am sitting here wondering how many pounds I have just gained from my Burrito supreme minus tomato and crunchy taco supreme minus tomato
It was worth it
-
Sandra, I am drinking Cherry Coke in your honor
-
I have missed your preschool stories, have you any new ones to share?

Sandra, I am drinking Cherry Coke in your honor
Yay!

I take a nice warm tub
I have a deep back rub
And the Rialto changes movies every Friday
I eat some hot minced pie
I see a cloud sail by
And the Rialto changes movies every Friday
You only get so much to work with
Before the seltzer's lost its fizz
And so, it's wise... To realize
This is all there is.
I sniff a rose bouquet
I hear some Mozart play
And it's a comfort
And it's a blessing
You only have to call it so
And the Rialto changes movies every Friday
What a wonderful thing to know
Oh, oh, oh... Six o'clock and the master is not home yet. Pray God nothing serious has happened to him crossing the river. But I wouldn't be surprised. The whole world's at sixes and sevens.
So open the box and hand me a car'mel treat
Go to the movies and reserve me a center seat
At the Rialto
At the Rialto
Friday
This is where you came in. We have to go on for ages and ages yet... You go home... Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Antrobus... Their heads are full of plans and they're as confident as the first day they began... And they told me to tell you...
Goodnight.
-
Good Evening!
Another show, another closin'.
-There was a very nice champagne toast after the show, and then was back on the vans back to get back to NYC. However, since some people were staying up there for the night, and other people were taking the "midtown van" there were only two of us in the "uptown van". So, James dropped each of us at our doors. -A nice "extra" closing night gift.
Otherwise, we had two good shows today. Two good audiences. And I know I'll be seeing everyone sooner or later. So... To quote another Kander & Ebb song... "And the world goes round and round and round..."
-
DR Danise - Thanks for the updates. And it's good to hear that you're being take care of now too. Nice to know you have some actual shoulders to lean and cry on down there.
-
I have missed your preschool stories, have you any new ones to share?
Well, Brody hasn't been to school lately, so, really, not much has happened. Apart from that Oops! Report yesterday, anyway. Brandon and his I-don't-want-to-eat-my-vegetables-so-I'll-just-cry routine has been keeping me from eating my plate for quite some time, so we don't even have that.
But we have a couple of birthdays coming up, and Kayla says she'll be getting a purple flying pony any day now, so I'm sure something exciting will happen pretty soon.
-
Guess who? ;)
-
By George!
Where's George, btw?!
Here I am! Finally. ;) I went to work for a few hours, then I came home and actually started going through my boxes down in my living room! My parents' friends didn't come over so it wasn't a problem that I didn't put the boxes in the garage. ::) Now I'm watching several episodes of "It's All Relative" from the Logo channel.
-
DR elmore - Glad you liked Journey's End. When I saw it, I was sitting down front just a few feet from the speakers. Needless to say, the final moments of the play were quite powerful... and loud... and powerful.
...And I still remember the audience not applauding right away during the curtain call. It was all still sinking in.
-
Guess who? ;)
Too easy Jose! I mean... too easy, Jose!
The clue shows up at the bottom left of the pic! :D
-
Good Night Cillaliz! I am sitting here wondering how many pounds I have just gained from my Burrito supreme minus tomato and crunchy taco supreme minus tomato
It was worth it
TOO late to worry about that!
-
Sandra, I am drinking Cherry Coke in your honor
Yuk! :-\
-
To quote another Kander & Ebb song... "And the world goes round and round and round..."
With a little help from MONEY, MONEY....;
-
DR vixmom - Sometimes you just have to head to the 'Bell. *The one by my parents' house in Virginia is open 24 hours. That was always "dangerous".
-
ARMS AND THE VAN - That's the title of my new one-act about a trip back to NYC after a closing night performance in Wetsport
-
Oops, meant Westport
-
Yuk! :-\
:o :o
All right, I've had enough juice for one Saturday night. And there's some silly thing going on on Monty Python's Flying Circus. Good night, everybody!
-
Although some might find Wetsport more fun
-
ARMS AND THE VAN - That's the title of my new one-act about a trip back to NYC after a closing night performance in Wetsport
;D
As for "Wetsport", I was figuring your Freudian slip was showing.
-
I never make Freddian slips
-
I mean Freudian

-
I never make Freddian slips
What about... briefs?!
"Fred? Oh, Fred? You pop that gum one more time...

For people who have been following Ahrens and Flaherty's THE GLORIOUS ONES, there's a real rave in one of the main Pittsburgh papers:
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_504963.html
-
And one for Manoel
-
Felciano?
-
(who turned out to be the host of the party that we went to earlier this evening)
-
(or at least one of the hosts, along with the birthday boy's wife)
-
Also in attendance were the lovelier than lovely and exceptionally talented Lauren Molina, who was in Sweeney Todd with Manoel Felciano; and the remarkably talented lyricist Glenn Slater.
-
Felciano?
Don't butcher (or baker!) his name Feliciano! ;)
-
TOO late to worry about that!
What are you implying?
-
Felciano?
Well, there might be a Felciano... What do I know... I live in Paris, France! :D
-
What are you implying?
That's the Taco Ugly regime!! :D
-
Man O Hell!
http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewphoto.cfm?id=11995
-
Didn't Jose Felciano sing the Christmas soing "Phylicia Rashad"
-
The franchise over here in Oz was renamed "Taco Bill".
-
I gotta do it!! Taco Bell here I come!!!
Yesterday, I went to Taco Bell and had their new 7-Layer Crunchwrap...three words: DE, LI, SHUS!! ;D
(http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t127/georged55/7-layercrunchwrap.jpg)
(except that I didn't have the guacamole :P but I added onions, so it was still seven layers :))
-
We need a Dance of the Seven Layers
-
The franchise over here in Oz was renamed "Taco Bill".
Here it's Tacky Cloche!
(Wait! We don't have Taco Bells here.... yet!!)
-
My Mexican San Francisco friend and guide Miguel, maintains that Taco Bell is about as Mexican as a Swedish chef.
(we dined in the Dolores Mission area)
-
Doesn't Taco sing about Pudding on a Ritz?
-
Didn't Jose Felciano sing the Christmas soing "Phylicia Rashad"
Tout à fait!
-
Doesn't Taco sing about Pudding on a Ritz?
With a Swedish accent? Si, si, tequilla!
-
It would be Taco-yoka P-pudding
-
Didn't Jose Felciano sing the Christmas soing "Phylicia Rashad"
and Bill Crosby soings "Wyatt Christmas"
-
Doesn't Taco sing about Pudding on a Ritz?
I like the Pitz better! ;D
-
and Bill Crosby soings "Wyatt Christmas"
It does not mean a thing if it ain't got that SOING!
-
Putting on the Cloche. Maybe that was in Hello Dolly.
-
Pitz - Another reference to Van Driver's arms, I take it.
-
Cloche but no seegar, Tom.
-
My Mother belonged to Soing Circle.
-
Pitz - Another reference to Van Driver's arms, I take it.
Oh, I was thinking about the Orchestra Pitz that Jose noses so well! :o :D
-
My Mother belonged to Soing Circle.
Soing is Believing!
-
Putting on the Cloche. Maybe that was in Hello Dolly.
Doesn't ring a belle with me!
Must have been in Mame!
-
A chance to "name drop"
I received a nice "thank you" note on Friday from the parents of Samantha Sang. I was not overcome with Emotion.
-
And one for Mame!
-
Do they sell anti-perspirant in Wetsport, I wonder.
-
As Samantha Sang sang
"Good night, good night, good night, good night, good night."
-
My Mexican San Francisco friend and guide Miguel, maintains that Taco Bell is about as Mexican as a Swedish chef.
(we dined in the Dolores Mission area)
I've heard that, too...it's closer to what's called "Tex-Mex."
-
Do they sell anti-perspirant in Wetsport, I wonder.
So sweat of you to ask that!
-
I was going to ask if "Urinetown" had its previews in Wetsport - I've thought better of it!
-
What happens in Wetsport sprays in Wetsport
-
LOL!! I was trying to stay for the changing of the day but I am too tired to keep my eyes open.....
Good night boys!!
-
Speaking of Samantha Sang (First recorded as Cheryl Grey here) - A very powerful voice. It's a pity she will be best remembered now as a Bee Gees "production".
Sam was in "The Magic Show" here.
-
Tomovoz, it's nothing to fall apart over.
-
Have you ever seen me fall apart? Might be a good weight loss technique.
-
Samantha Sang sang several sumptuous songs of sixpence.
(Can you say that ten times fast?)
-
a part over. That's less than six balls in cricket.
Australia just won the world cup.
-
Nice photo, DR JoseSPiano, but...
You didn't have him pose flexing his [in]famous bicep!
:)
-
Thanks very much, DRs FJL and elmore3003, for your reports from Broadway.
Vicarious thrills.
-
Why didn't they call "Half A Sixpence" threepence?
-
Nothing infamous about that bicep; it's quite well regarded
-
Is that where the word Biceptual comes from?
-
In certain circles! ;)
-
And speaking of Taco Bell...look what I found looking through my boxes today! My 11 Taco Bell dogs AND my Godzilla movie tie-in car cup holder! ;D
(http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t127/georged55/11TacoBellDogs.jpg)
-
But the world is a circle (a Lost Horizon reference)
-
Is 140 or 35 biseptual?
-
But the world is a circle
Love is a circle
-Toni Tenille
-
Awwww...
Cute, DR George!
-
Love is a circle
-Toni Tenille
Thus a circle will keep us together.
-
That's less than six balls in cricket.
I thought that there were more than 3 players on a cricket team...
-
11 = 22 = never mind. They're a protected species.
-
Tomovoz - Whatever!
(a "Love Will Keep Us Together" reference)
-
:o
;D
-
Well, after ketchuping, I'm now ready for a Burrito Supreme a la mode...
-
Served in a Tupperware dish.
-
New mode hay gives me hay fever, though.
-
By a brawny van driver.
-
Singing Toni Tenille.
-
Spoo, spoo, it's after two
-
New mode hay gives me hay fever, though.
OK, Miss Peggy Lee!
-
Between mown hay and schtupping birds, someone will have to do a thesis on nature imagery at HHW...
-
More a Liza -Kander-Ebb reverence
-
Oh...nature boy!
(a Bugs Bunny reference)
-
Tomovoz - Whatever!
No! Dav Whatmore coached the Sri Lankan Cricket team at one time.
-
And in this corner...THE CRUSHER!
-
Spoo, meant "Whatever!" as a Toni Tennille lyric reference
-
No! Dav Whatmore coached the Sri Lankan Cricket team at one time.
DR FJL knew that, too...
He was just testing your proofing.
-
Awwww...
Cute, DR George!
Thanks, Singdaw. :)
-
I really know more about Grasshopper than I do about Cricket.
-
"Whatever!" as a Toni Tennille lyric reference
Very subtle, DR FJL...I like the way you think.
-
And in this corner...THE CRUSHER!
A surfing term.
-
Thanks, Singdaw.
I can assure you, it wouldn't look quite so idyllic if you unleashed Zach upon that scene for about .25 seconds...
-
Very subtle, DR FJL...I like the way you think.
Ay ay Captain.
-
Did Daryl really have drag on when singing Neil Sedaka songs?
-
So as not to appear snotty, I explained my "Whatever" subtlety in the original "Whatever" post
:) for the magic of editing
-
Ay ay Captain.
Captain Crunch?
or
O Captain, My Captain!
or
Bob Keeshan
-
:) for the magic of editing
Editing can do wonders. On many fronts.
:)
-
Yikes, it's 2:30 - good night, as Samantha sang
-
Captain Crunch?
or
O Captain, My Captain!
or
Bob Keeshan
Never mind...I get it now! :)
-
Good night, dear DR FJL, and pleasant dreams!
-
Trivia. "The Captain" Daryl Dragon's father's name was Carmen.
It was Mike Love who gave the name "Captain" to Daryl.
Love - will keep us together
Does that complete the circle?
-
EDIT HEAD - the new combo costume designer/film editor for cheap porn
-
Goodnight Fred. (possibly a Dino reference)
-
We learned the truth at 17
That love was meant for beauty queens
-
DR FJL - I like it! But...does one really need a costume designer for cheap porn?
Never having watched any, I'm naive about these things.
-
Or is it theater queens?
-
I can assure you, it wouldn't look quite so idyllic if you unleashed Zach upon that scene for about .25 seconds...
Well, then it's a good thing that Zach doesn't have access to them, isn't it??
;)
-
Wow. Before it was all girls, all the time at HHW.
Now it's just us guys.
Spoo. Hi, vixmom! :)
-
You're a regular Naive Campbell (from soup to nuts)
-
Or is it theater queens?
As DR Ron Pulliam oft says: they're the most vicious!
-

Oh, but I want to be...Demi!
-
I'm backward. Perhaps I'll learn the truth at 71.
-
In case Fred decides to vist Francois
Worldwide treaties prevent DRs FJL and François from ever being in the same country at the same time.
-
There are no theater queens in OZ.
-
I may make posts all night and be home at three
Just leave a light on the porch for me
(Hi. Girls. Fred. Francois)
-
Plenty of Theatre Queens though.
-
Well, nobody's perfect.
-
How about Dancing Queens?
-
DR FJL, you should have worn green.
-
Isn't it I should have Lorne Greene?
-
Or would that be MBarnum who should have Lorne Greene? :)
-
The Damn sin queens all live in Sydney.
-
Lorne Green...
Was he the Grapenuts guy?
-
"Ringo".
-
Not butter-fingers Irving.
-
Sorry, I thought I could prop my eyelids open for the Posting Ceremony, but I'm all tuckered out.
Smooches, kids!
-
Hmmm....
So, "originally" I had planned to spend tomorrow cleaning my room, sorting through the rest of the back log of my mail, etc. But since it's supposed to a glorious day weather-wise, and since I haven't been to Central Park in a while...
Plus, Dawn Upshaw is giving a free recital tomorrow at Town Hall as part of their "Free For All At Town Hall" series... Ticket distribution begins at Noon, which means I would have to line up no later than 9:00, I guess...
And there are still tickets left for Maurizio Pollini's recital at Carnegie Hall...
And the L.A. Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall with Jean-Yves Thibaudet playing Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand...
Decisions, decisions...
-
Yeah! Dawn Upshore. No choice necessary.
-
Goodnight DR slingshot.
-
Jose, what's the official name of the song that you posted? :)
-
Jose, what's the official name of the song that you posted? :)
"At the Rialto"
*And I guess I should have posted some sort of copyright notice... In any case, it's the closing number from All About Us. A truly simply beautiful piece of music.
-
And now I'm telling you...
Goodnight.
-
Back from a play and pie and now I must write some quick notes. To it.
-
"At the Rialto"

Thanks for the info!

"At The Rialto" was the closing song for "Over and Over" DR George.
Is that yet another CD missing from your collection?
-
AND my Godzilla movie tie-in car cup holder! ;D
