Photos of the signing in today's notes.
Nice photos, BK!
I'm reading Legends, the infamous play by James Kirkwood that starred Carol Channing and Mary Martin. It's from 1986. It played for a year all over the country and never opened on Broadway. As I'm reading it I can see why it never opened. IMHO, so far the play is DREADFUL!!! I will read his book about the whole brouhaha, called Diary of a Mad Playwright, when I've finished the play.
I know there were many reasons why the show never made it to Broadway but I really think that one of them was the play stinks and even two stars couldn't save it.
A "Glitter and Be Gay" more spirited than usual, at least for a concert setting:

DR elmore3003 - what an honor for your friend Peter! Congratulations to him - what a thrill.

DR FJL, you are correct about that! FINIAN'S RAINBOW happened after I'd decided my chances of being involved with a Broadway production were nil. Still, given what's playing and being optioned, I think my chances of another are very low.
And greetings from Toyland!
Larry, whatever its commercial fate was, FINIAN'S RAINBOW was widely considered an artistic success. Maybe the next artistic success will also be a commercial success.
DR Cillaliz, I was happy to read that Callie's health may be okay, and I hope that continues to be the case.
Your experience with the raccoon reminded me of the night in 2008 when I discovered my apartment was infested with bedbugs. I suspect you are in for several difficult months and I wish you a huge success getting rid of them and in not losing too much money in the process.
Well DR CILLA LIZ last night was a new moon in Gemini which doubles the crazy in the world....and would make animals restless....so that could be a start.....
I hope I win a Tony Award tonight!
DR Cillaliz - glad to hear the news that BOTH kitties are OK, after yesterday (and last night) were said and done!
~ ~ ~ VIBES ~ ~ ~ for good test results. AND for successful trapping. And for a well-deserved nap.

I wonder if interpreting Dream-o-matic so beautifully would qualify you for an Emmy though:
Best adaptation of material from another medium.
(I think there's a joke in there somewhere, maybe we'll have a ssavenger hunt for it later.)
I've always wanted to give one a twirl. As many of the winners have remarked over the years... they really do spin! :)
The sound man on LEGENDS attended DePauw University and had many tales to tell about the tour.....most of which Kirkwood relates in his book, which is a very interesting and entertaining tome.
Don't roll on the floor too much, you'll hurt yourself!
I should mention for DR Ginny's reading pleasure that I fondly remember first seeing THE ODD COUPLE on a delightful evening out with my family at the Mariemont Theater.
Those, of course, were the days with packed theaters full of people of all ages loving and laughing their arses off at the latest Neil Simon film. Some magical times were had.
DR GINNY what lovely photos of the BOOKSTALL, thanks for sharing them AND the story.
I've always wanted to be in a Neil Simon play. What would be a good part for me?

From my recollection of reading this (lo, many years ago), it had some of the same problems that did in Moose Murders - a bad script to begin with, plus at least one star that could not learn their lines. :P
I found out they don't make pain meds that cats can take for more than 3 days. Sheesh! Someone should get busy inventing that one.

I swapped it out with the last spare cord and it worked perfectly.
DR GINNY I can't believe you haven't seen Prisoner of Second Avenue.....movie starred Jack Lemmon and Anne Bancroft.

Last night around midnight, the raccoon was back by my window. It scratched and scratched and I could tell it was trying to get in. I went outside several times to try to see where it was and to chase it away. Boo got out one of those times, at 2:00 AM and luckily I grabbed her in the yard, but that was a huge scare.
Oh did I mention that the Journal put a photo of me in today that looks like I'm constipated? LOL!
Sounds as if the reading went well....and I enjoyed the photos, of course, and seeing the new Slender BK.
DR JANE I love that quote as well.....the workers' faces are perfect all during the time Myrna Loy is speaking and after she walks away.....

I did about have a heart attack. She started to go under some bushes and I leaned down and stopped her, then I was able to pick her up.

I hope my sister is currently enjoying her birthday present. Her birthday is not until the 19th, but a couple of months ago she said that she wished she could see the New York Yankees play against the Seattle Mariners. She has never been to Safeco Field in Seattle, which is one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. So, I bought the bullet and bought her tickets for she and her husband. I won't mention how much they cost, but I could have gotten a couple of good seats on Broadway. The good part is that you don't have to worry about the game being rained out, because it has a retractable roof that can be closed anytime the weather turns bad.
In this house we had a problem with ground squirrels under the house. We purchased a couple of traps and drove them far away from home. Keith waited by the car (not wanting to leave it) on remote roads while I released the squirrels.
Trapping and releasing isn't fun but it is better than killing & much better than having them scurrying around the house.
I still have a live trap. I would have helped you trap the relocate the raccoon if I lived near you.

However so far NO SOUND PROBLEMS! We have heard every terrible lyric.

Aw thanks. The traps are all outside. it got in the walls, not the attic, so there was no way to put a trap there. Traps are empty so far, hoping that we get one tonight.. Also hoping it's not a female giving birth in the walls of my house. I don't even want to think about that

Yeah, so what was June Anderson's excuse? Or Kristin Chenoweth's? Both of theirs are dreadful. I will admit I haven't paid attention to too many others' names, because I haven't enjoyed their performance, such as the woman on the 1974 revival cast recording or the New York City Opera Recording. Or Harolyn Blackwell's.

You should read the Facebook comments about the opening number - BEST OPENING EVER says Lucie Arnaz - and others can't wait to agree. GENIUS. BRILLIANT. And anyone who doesn't think so hates theater and is a jerk. We shall see which camp I'm in.
I was very happy for the Best Supporting Actor; I've always liked his work. I was rooting for Spike; I liked Billy when he was on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
I wonder, DR Cillaliz, if DROOD wasn't mentioned in the opening because it's no longer running. This show has become all about getting tourist butts into theatre seats and the cast coildn't be a part of the opening's routines.

"The crowd loves it" - they're back at Radio City, where 90% of the audience are teens and musical theater FANatics who are told to scream for their favorites - I hate Radio City for these awards and it's just like American Idol crap. Oh, for the days when the awards were held in normal B'way theaters and the theater community was the audience - not rabid, screaming kiddies.

I've given up on that. I never win anything!
I win drawings and such, but this sort of award, if there is one award, I come in second. If there are three, I come in fourth. Quite irritating actually

OK, this is petty, but we've been winning a lot of awards and great reviews for the new doc, just won one today, and the person who did the most work (moi) and had the most creative input is rarely, if ever mentioned. I worked harder on this than anything in my life and think it's my best work, so it's just a little unmotivating reading how beautifully crafted it was by someone whose main contribution was the funding. Then again, it would never have been made without the funding, so I should be grateful, but it just bugs me enough to not be completely thrilled by those kind of accolades, and it bugs me even more that I can't be completely thrilled, if that makes sense.

Twelve minutes to the Tonys.
There were leeches in Mr. Sardonicus.
Swenson.....Swenson.....if he had a tv series I would recognize him

;)
Game of Thrones is up for best musical?
Reading the posts is more interesting than the show, so I missed the treadmill bit. Maybe it will be On Demand?
Is ONCE that good? I wasn't crazy about the film, so a musical of it interests me even less...
If I win the BIG POWERBALL i will send everyone on HHW a postcard from my Royal Caribbean Cruise!
Okay...they're starting!!OK they're ending .....
Game of Thrones is up for best musical?
I'm sure that next year we'll hear about "Game of Thrones: The Musical!"
:P
Regarding the raccoon issue, lots of folks here have that problem with possums. A friend of mine had a recycling can crusher in his garage and a possum decided to build a "fort" and carried up dozens of crushed cans to the attic!
As for us, we just have snakes that migrate between the attic and basement, depending on the time of year. At least they're quiet!
I hope I win a Tony Award tonight!
Makes perfect sense Edi - congratulations on the win and shame on those who don't remember why they won

I'm really glad we don't have snakes. I don't think I could deal with that!
There you are Cilla!!
Late to the Tony party but will do a speed catch-up. Hey, y'all!
And now I'm going to bed because we have our last sow then strike! AND THEN THE TONYS!! ;D
How's come Annie's voice was booming during her solo lines but not when she was singing with everyone else? Prerecorded.....or was DR GEORGE really quick on the microphone buttons tonight?
Why is Will Chase sitting with (Jrand62's favorite) Debra Messing? Aren't he and Audra an item?
Will Swenson.
Alan Cummings always seems so pleased with himself

Raccoons are easier to see

Last sow? Are you doing Animal Farm the Musical?
And I love Motown songs - I just don't need to hear them in a bad musical.
George I am counting on you!!!
I have BOTH my DVRs set to record...just in case! ;)
you are a kind and generous man and I am a worthless leech... but a very very grateful leech :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Game of Thrones is up for best musical?
BRING IT OFF, THE MUSICAL
I love Neil Patrick Harris. Period.
I have absolutely no interest in seeing Matilda. Which is sad, since I enjoyed both the book and the movie as a child. That song was dreadful.
Tom Hanks looks really bizarre with a mustache...
In the clips...that Honey looked really OLD!
Honey Boo Boo?

I do what I'm told. 8)

Is this edisaurus's first visit to the new board?
Is this edisaurus's first visit to the new board?
It is indeed! I have been spending much of my time the last few months in the hospital with my dad, so most of my internet time is on my phone. I like that you're able to embed pictures into the notes!
Jed's two cents - Another issue is that some of the shows that have been running on Broadway forever need to close and make room for new shows. When you only get three or four new shows per season, what can you expect to really come of it?
Game of Thrones is up for best musical?
It's probably only a matter of time...

Yes, it looked like both transformations malfunctioned and Laura almost lost her footing getting onto the coach.

All of the men directors are sitting with their teenage sons.....I think.

Uh...yea....especially the red-headed one.
Wow - hadn't seen Terrence Mann in quite a while. He looks different!
Wow that dress is eating her alive!
I'm not sure what the performers get paid. I do know the producers of each show pay for their own numbers that are performed - it doesn't cost the Tony people a damn thing. I do not think that was always the case.
Annie proves once again that choreography has just hit its nadir - where Peter Genarro's was perfection, this was just posing and pointless and I loathed the new orchestrations. Jane Lynch tried hard, sang loud and was completely unfunny, unlike Miss Loudon, Jane Connell, Ruth Kobart and any number of other hilarious Miss Hannigan's. And the New Yawk accents?

I disagree, I think Jane Lynch did well. However, I completely agree with the "New Yawk" accent issue...totally unnecessary and distracting.
Still the best musical number we've seen so far. Not saying much, but there you go

Is Spiderman still playing on broadway? I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.

it is indeed I think they just stopped crippling the actors
I really enjoyed NPH's number with Laura Benanti and Megan Hilty. Funny.
And as always I really liked the closing number with Neil and Audra. Wish they weren't so rushed.
Btw, THE SHOW WENT OVER BY ALMOST 10 minutes on the East Coast (for anyone recording it).

CBS in Atlanta cut off the show at 11PM...pissed off a lot of people here! Plus the reporter who was covering it couldn't get half of the award winners right...totally fumbled it. Glad the ending is already on youtube!
Apparently, no one in New York or Radio City knew that The Rascals had a Broadway show.
while the TV number was okay, why take up Tony time with something that is self-aggrandizing and pointless?
It's funny about Pippin - for all this reinvention, they can't go all the way and still choreograph in the "style" of Fosse - many of the original steps and positions are there. Why not do completely different? I thought it was fun to watch, but I really hate the way Pippin sings.
If it took Cicely this long to accept an award, Bountiful must be a long night of theater.
I don't think I'll do a second jog.
I hope I win a Tony Award tonight!

Of course we have fifty minutes left, so anything can happen.

And we passed 800 posts...that's nothing to sneeze at.
I wonder how much that microphone cost, that Audra just dropped on the stage.
